Dyson’s AM15 is a premium fan heater marketed in some regions as the Dyson Hot+Cool HF1 or Hot+Cool HF1 Rapid React. It launched in China on November 17, 2025, at a reported introductory price of 3,790 yuan. Dyson’s US site currently lists the related HF1 at $499.99. Compared with the AM09, Dyson claims faster whole-room heating and operation up to 25% quieter.
The important limitation is that this is an electric fan heater: its cooling mode circulates air but does not lower room temperature like an air conditioner, and the HF1 is not a purifier unless a separate regional listing explicitly says otherwise.

What exactly is the Dyson AM15?
The AM15 is Dyson’s newer Hot+Cool fan-heater platform and the successor to the Dyson AM09. The same product family is sold under different consumer names:
- AM15: the model designation used in China-oriented coverage and technical documentation.
- Dyson Hot+Cool HF1: the regional consumer name.
- Dyson Hot+Cool HF1 Rapid React: the name used on the current US product page.
Dyson’s Australian cybersecurity documentation identifies AM15 as the underlying Hot+Cool HF1 remote-link pre-heat model. That naming difference explains why a search for “AM15” may lead to an HF1 product page rather than a page using AM15 prominently.

“Bladeless” describes the exterior: there are no exposed fan blades. Internally, the machine still uses a motor and impeller to move air.
Launch date, regions, and price
China-focused launch coverage reported that Dyson introduced the AM15 on November 17, 2025, with an introductory price of 3,790 yuan. That was not evidence of a simultaneous worldwide launch.
Dyson now sells the related HF1 in other markets. The US Dyson Hot+Cool HF1 Rapid React listing showed a price of $499.99 and in-stock availability in the supplied current listing. The UK product page uses HF1 branding, while an official Taiwan listing uses both AM15 and HF1 terminology.
Prices, stock, included accessories, electrical specifications, app support, and warranty coverage can vary by country. A China-market AM15 should not be assumed to work with US electrical systems or receive US warranty support.

The 20% and 25% figures are Dyson comparison claims, not independent household test results. The reported 290-litre-per-second airflow figure comes from launch coverage and should be treated as a published specification rather than an independently verified measurement.
Heating performance: what “20% faster” means
Dyson says the HF1 heats a whole room 20% faster than the AM09. Its regional product pages give different descriptions of the heating test: one UK listing says the product can raise room temperature by one degree in as little as 100 seconds, while another Dyson presentation describes one degree in as little as three minutes in a 377-square-foot test room.

Heating speed depends on room volume, insulation, starting temperature, outdoor conditions, thermostat setting, machine placement, and whether doors or windows are open. A well-insulated bedroom will behave very differently from a draughty workshop, extension, or open-plan space.
The HF1 uses power-dense ceramic heating plates and a thermostat that cycles heating to maintain the selected temperature. That can avoid running the heating element continuously once the target is reached, but it does not guarantee a lower electricity bill. Actual cost depends on the selected temperature, operating hours, electricity rate, insulation, and heat loss.
Noise and Sleep mode
Dyson claims the AM15/HF1 is up to 25% quieter than the AM09, attributing the improvement to revised motor and acoustic engineering, including a silencer. The UK listing gives a 26 dB figure for Sleep mode.
That does not mean the heater is silent or that every operating mode is 25% quieter than every AM09 unit. Sound varies with fan speed, heating output, oscillation, room acoustics, and measurement conditions. Maximum-power heating will normally be more audible than Sleep mode because the machine must move more air.

Does it cool a room?
Yes, it provides cooling airflow; no, it is not an air conditioner. Dyson’s Air Multiplier system is described as amplifying surrounding air by up to eight times. In practice, moving air across the skin can make occupants feel cooler, particularly in a bedroom or office.
Fan mode does not remove heat from the room. It cannot provide the refrigerated cooling effect of a compressor-based air conditioner, especially in hot and humid weather. If the objective is to reduce the actual indoor temperature, a portable, window, split, or other properly sized air-conditioning system is the more appropriate category.
Does it purify air?
The HF1 is a hot-and-cool fan heater, not one of Dyson’s Purifier Hot+Cool products. Do not buy it expecting HEPA filtration, activated-carbon filtration, or pollutant sensing unless the exact regional listing confirms those features.
Dyson’s separate Purifier Hot+Cool range includes models such as the HP1 and HP2. Those products combine heating and airflow with filtration, but they cost more and introduce filter-replacement costs.

Depending on the market and exact version, the AM15/HF1 offers:
- MyDyson app control;
- remote pre-heating;
- remote temperature adjustment;
- scheduling;
- supported voice control through the connected ecosystem;
- an LCD display;
- Sleep mode and a sleep timer; and
- automatic thermostat operation.
The UK product page states that the app requires iOS 15 or later or Android 8 or later. App availability and connected features can differ by country, so buyers should check regional compatibility before importing one. Buyers who dislike account registration or connected-home features can still use the physical controls and remote, but the app is part of the product’s premium positioning.
Safety and installation considerations
The design has no exposed heating elements or rapidly spinning external blades. Listed protections include automatic shutoff if the unit tips over, overheating protection, and child-lock functionality on the UK listing. It also supports oscillation of approximately 70 degrees left and right and manual tilt adjustment of approximately 10 degrees up and down, according to launch coverage.
These protections reduce risk but do not make an electric heater risk-free. Keep the unit on a stable surface, leave its air intake and outlet unobstructed, do not cover it, keep it away from water, and follow the regional manual and electrical requirements. A heater should not be treated as a substitute for a properly designed building-heating system in a large or poorly insulated space.

Published physical specifications
China launch coverage reports approximate dimensions of 152 × 115 × 585 millimetres, airflow of up to 290 litres per second, approximately 70 degrees of oscillation, and approximately 10 degrees of manual tilt. These figures come from secondary launch reporting rather than an independently verified measurement in the supplied material.

The answer depends on what the buyer is paying for. The HF1 makes the strongest case where a single, compact device must provide supplemental heat, personal cooling airflow, quieter bedroom or office operation, app control, remote pre-heating, and a no-exposed-blade exterior.

It is a weaker value if the priority is simply producing heat at the lowest purchase price. A conventional ceramic heater paired with a separate fan will usually cost substantially less and can offer comparable basic heating output, although it sacrifices integration, design, and some convenience.
Choose the AM15/HF1 if you:
- want one device for supplemental heating and personal cooling airflow;
- value the design and easy-to-clean exterior;
- care about Sleep mode and quieter operation;
- want app control, schedules, or remote pre-heating; and
- accept paying a premium for Dyson’s hardware and ecosystem.
Choose something else if you:
- need actual air conditioning;
- need air purification;
- must heat a large, poorly insulated area economically;
- want the lowest-cost fan or heater;
- do not want app registration; or
- are considering an import without confirmed voltage, app, service, and warranty compatibility.
Alternatives
Dyson AM09
The AM09 may make sense if it is available at a substantial clearance or used discount. It is older and lacks the AM15/HF1’s newer connected-control positioning, so the price difference should be significant before choosing it over the newer model.

The HP1 is the better Dyson choice if filtration and pollutant sensing matter as much as heating and airflow. The supplied US category listing showed prices from $659.99. It is more expensive and requires filter replacement, making it poor value for buyers who only want a heater-fan.
Dyson Purifier Hot+Cool HP2
The HP2 is aimed at buyers prioritising more advanced filtration and gas-management features. The supplied US listing showed prices from $949.99. It is difficult to justify for buyers who do not specifically need purification.
Conventional heater and fan
This is the practical value option. Separate devices are cheaper and easier to replace, but they take more space and do not offer the HF1’s integrated controls and design.
Portable or window air conditioner
For a room that genuinely needs cooling, an air conditioner is the correct comparison. It removes heat rather than merely circulating air, although it is noisier, less portable, and may require exhaust installation.
Importing an AM15
Model-name matching is not enough. Before buying an imported unit, confirm its voltage and plug requirements, local electrical compliance, app availability, manuals, replacement parts, and warranty terms. Dyson’s China service information warns that overseas versions purchased through Chinese channels may fall outside standard local warranty and service policies. The same caution applies in reverse to US buyers considering a China-market unit.
For most buyers, an officially sold local HF1 is the safer purchase even if an imported AM15 appears cheaper. The saving may disappear if the unit cannot be serviced locally or is electrically incompatible.
Verdict
The Dyson AM15/Hot+Cool HF1 is a refined premium fan heater, not a new category of climate-control equipment. Dyson’s claimed improvements over the AM09—20% faster whole-room heating, up to 25% lower noise, thermostat control, Sleep mode, and connected pre-heating—make it appealing for bedrooms, offices, and other spaces needing supplemental heat and personal airflow.
At the observed US price of $499.99, it is worth considering only if those quieter operation, design, and smart-control benefits matter to you. It is not the right buy for actual room cooling, air purification, whole-home heating, or the lowest operating and purchase cost.
