Architectural Digest reported in August 2026 that the property sold for $18 million to an unidentified buyer, after its asking price had been reduced to $22.9 million.
From $28.9 million asking price to reported $18 million sale
The headline figure refers to the home’s initial asking price, reported by Realtor.com on March 24, 2025. Architectural Digest later reported that the asking price had fallen to $22.9 million and that the property sold for $18 million in August 2026. AD described the buyer as unknown and said the sale price was confirmed to the publication; the reviewed coverage does not include a deed or another primary transaction record.
| Stage | Price | What it represents |
|---|---|---|
| Initial listing, March 2025 | $28.9 million | Original asking price, reported by Realtor.com. |
| Later listing, reported June 2026 | $22.9 million | Reduced asking price, reported by Architectural Digest. |
| Reported sale, August 2026 | $18 million | Sale price reported by Architectural Digest; buyer unidentified. |
The $18 million reported sale price was $10.9 million below the first asking price. That arithmetic describes this property’s listing-to-sale timeline; it does not establish how the home compared with other Sullivan Canyon sales.
A farmhouse built around reclaimed Chicago brick
Architectural Digest describes the custom-built farmhouse as 9,200 square feet, with five bedrooms, eight bathrooms, a separate guesthouse and a pool. Keaton used 75,000 reclaimed Chicago bricks in the house, giving the exterior its defining material and texture.

Brick, beams and a skylit kitchen
The design combines a brick exterior, exposed beams and French doors opening onto a brick patio. Inside, the kitchen is lit by a skylight and pairs white brick with weathered metal fixtures in a black-and-white palette. In the library, white shelves frame a black staircase.
Those details point to a construction approach in which material character is part of the finish: reclaimed brick and weathered metal bring visible variation, while the black-and-white elements provide contrast. The published descriptions establish the materials and features, but do not specify their suppliers, installation methods or performance characteristics.
What Pinterest had to do with the design
Keaton collected ideas on Pinterest, and the house later became the subject of her 2017 book, The House That Pinterest Built. But Pinterest was one influence, not the sole explanation given for the design. Realtor.com also reported inspiration from a New York apartment Keaton had lived in, the childhood story The Three Little Pigs and her desire for a brick home.
In Architectural Digest’s 2017 home tour, reproduced in its 2026 sale story, Keaton said, “I follow my impulses just like I did with acting.” She recalled initially thinking she would paint the bricks white, then growing to love their texture and imperfections. The result, as described in the later feature, keeps the brick visible rather than treating it as a surface to conceal.

Listing agent Josh Flagg praised Keaton’s eye for architecture, proportion and design in the same AD coverage. That is the agent’s assessment, rather than an independent design credential.
The book documenting the project
The House That Pinterest Built connects the residence to Keaton’s design process and the inspiration she gathered for it. Architectural Digest identifies the 2017 book as a record of the house; the title is also listed in the Rizzoli catalog.

What is established about the home’s earlier price
Published accounts disagree on what Keaton paid for the property. Architectural Digest’s August 2026 sale report says she bought it in 2011 for $4.7 million, while its June 2026 listing feature gives $5.65 million, citing listing history. Without a consistent record across those reports, neither figure can be treated here as settled.
