Dangbei announced the D7X and D7X Pro projectors in China on October 9, 2025. The compact models use separate red, green and blue laser channels, but they target different buyers: the D7X is a lower-cost 1080p-class projector, while the D7X Pro adds a 4K display system, optical zoom, HDMI 2.1, VRR and advanced gaming modes.

China launch pricing was reported at ¥2,874 for the D7X and ¥4,399 for the D7X Pro. Later Dangbei store listings showed ¥2,874 and ¥4,374 respectively. These are China-market prices, not confirmed US or European retail prices. International availability, local warranty coverage and Western streaming-app support should be verified before importing either model.

What RGB or tri-laser means

Unlike a conventional lamp projector, an RGB-laser design uses separate red, green and blue laser channels to create the image. Compared with lamp-based illumination, this can provide strong color saturation, a compact optical system and a long-lasting light source without routine lamp replacement.

  • Easy Setup and Image Adjustment: Adapt to any installation space with a powerful 1.7x optical zoom, horizontal/vertical keystone, and curved screen projection; allowing for precise image alignment even in challenging architectural layouts

It does not guarantee perfect image quality. RGB laser projectors can show visible speckle depending on the screen material, content, viewing distance and the viewer’s sensitivity. High color volume also does not automatically produce deep black levels, accurate calibration or cinema-grade contrast. Brightness figures must be compared using the same measurement standard.

D7X: the compact 1080p option

The D7X is the value-oriented model. Launch coverage describes it as a native 1080p projector, making it the more logical choice for ordinary Full HD streaming, bedroom viewing, casual movies and occasional console play.

Its brightness is unusually difficult to summarize with one number. Launch coverage reports 1,100 CVIA lumens, while Dangbei’s official page references 1,150 CVIA and also displays 1,300 ISO. CVIA and ISO are different measurement systems, so these figures should not be combined or treated as interchangeable. None of them guarantees a bright image in daylight; room darkness, screen size and screen gain remain important.

The D7X has a 145-degree integrated gimbal, autofocus and automatic keystone features intended to make wall or ceiling projection easier. Dangbei reports a fixed throw ratio of about 1.2:1 and support for images up to roughly 120 inches. Keystone correction is convenient, but heavy digital correction can reduce effective resolution and introduce geometric artifacts.

  • Pro-Level Gaming Features: Play big with 200" visuals, 1ms response, 240Hz fluidity—plus VRR and ALLM for seamless sync and ultra-low latency.

For gaming, the D7X includes a dedicated game mode and console-oriented settings for Switch, Xbox and PlayStation. Dangbei also advertises up to 120 Hz MEMC. MEMC is motion interpolation designed to make movement appear smoother; it is not proof that the projector accepts 120 Hz gaming input with low latency.

D7X Pro: sharper images and more flexible gaming

The D7X Pro is the more technically ambitious model. Dangbei markets it as a 4K projector with a larger 4K display chip than a 0.33-inch DMD. However, the available product copy does not fully establish whether buyers should interpret the system as native 3840×2160 imaging or as another form of pixel-shifted 4K presentation. Buyers who care about native 4K should confirm the optical architecture and input limitations before purchasing.

Its advertised output is 1,300 CVIA lumens, with a claimed 20,000:1 dynamic contrast ratio. The Pro also adds a 0.98–1.31:1 lossless optical-zoom range. Optical zoom provides more useful placement flexibility than digital scaling because it changes image size without simply discarding or interpolating pixels.

Gaming is the main hardware distinction. Dangbei lists HDMI 2.1, variable refresh rate, automatic low-latency mode, AI game upscaling and a claimed 1 ms response time. The product page associates its performance claims with 4K/60 Hz and 1080p/240 Hz modes. The 1 ms figure should therefore not be treated as a universal result: projector latency depends on resolution, refresh rate, processing and the selected game mode, and it would ideally be confirmed by independent testing.

A 1080p/240 Hz input claim also does not necessarily mean that every game is displayed internally as a true 240 Hz visual refresh. VRR support depends on the source device, HDMI mode, supported refresh range and firmware.

Are the D7X and D7X Pro really eye-safe?

Dangbei markets both projectors with eye-protection features, including a “zero harmful blue light” claim. The D7X’s official page describes AI-based protection and a sensor system intended to reduce output when someone passes in front of the projector. The D7X Pro is reported to add eye detection, automatic dimming, ambient-light-based brightness adjustment and multiple light-diffusion layers.

These descriptions cover two different ideas: optical management of the light source and active detection that can dim the projector when a person approaches the beam. They are useful safety features, but they are not the same as independent medical certification.

The available material does not prove that either model eliminates eye fatigue, prevents eye damage or is safe to stare into. Do not look directly into the lens, and do not position a projector where children can easily access the beam. “Eye-safe” should be read as Dangbei’s product and marketing claim, not as a medical guarantee.

Placement and smart features

Both models use the same practical 145-degree integrated gimbal, allowing projection toward a wall or ceiling without a separate tilt stand. The gimbal does not remove the need for a flat projection surface, and it cannot make an unsuitable throw distance work. The D7X Pro’s zoom is particularly useful when the projector must fit into an existing room layout.

The D7X is reported to use Super AI OS 6.0 based on Android 12, while the D7X Pro is reported to use Super AI OS 6.0 based on Android 14. Both support voice search, casting and Xiaomi Mi Home integration. The D7X lists AirPlay, DLNA, Miracast and Huawei Cast+ support; the Pro adds Wi-Fi 6 alongside Bluetooth 5.0.

These are Chinese-market smart projectors. Their app stores, language options, account requirements, content licensing and casting behavior may differ from an international Google TV model. Do not assume that Netflix, Prime Video, Disney+ or other Western services are natively supported unless Dangbei confirms support for the relevant region and firmware. An external streaming device may be necessary.

Which one should you buy?

Choose the D7X if:

  • You mainly watch 1080p content.
  • The projector is for a bedroom, dorm, rental property or occasional use.
  • You want RGB-laser color and ceiling projection at the lower price.
  • Gaming is casual and HDMI 2.1, VRR and advanced low-latency modes are not priorities.

Choose the D7X Pro if:

  • You want Dangbei’s sharper 4K model.
  • You plan to use a large image where pixel density matters more.
  • You need optical zoom for flexible placement.
  • You want HDMI 2.1, VRR, ALLM and the Pro’s advertised gaming modes.
  • You can accept a higher price and possible China-region software limitations.

Neither model is an obvious fit if you require officially supported Western streaming apps, a local warranty, independent input-lag measurements, a short-throw design or strong daytime living-room performance. RGB laser speckle is another reason to audition the projector or confirm the seller’s return policy before committing.

Availability and buying cautions

The initial launch and listed prices are China-focused. Dangbei’s Chinese listings advertise one-year warranty coverage, seven-day no-reason returns and 30-day free replacement, but those policies should not be assumed to apply to buyers in the United States, Europe or elsewhere.

Imported units may also involve different plugs, voltage requirements, shipping costs, taxes, firmware restrictions and limited service options. Confirm the seller’s regional support in writing rather than treating a Chinese store listing as proof of international availability.

For official information, consult Dangbei’s projector catalog, D7X listing and D7X Pro listing.
