When are the Gachibowli waste mounds expected to be cleared?
CMC’s stated expectation is that the two mounds along the IKEA–AIG Hospitals stretch will be cleared within two months. That is a projected timeline, not confirmation that work has begun or will finish by a fixed date. The October 4 report says the corporation submitted a detailed report to the Telangana government seeking final clearance. What is planned, and what remains undecided?
Commissioner G Srijana said the waste is planned for on-site disposal under Telangana Pollution Control Board (TGPCB) guidelines. She described the intention as avoiding noise and dust; that statement is a plan, not evidence that pollution will be eliminated. The report does not say which agency will carry out the work, whether a contract has been signed, or what implementation arrangements have been finalised. (Telangana Today, October 4, 2026)

CMC had received seven responses to an Expression of Interest and submitted a detailed report seeking government clearance. Earlier coverage described a proposed technical assessment, but it does not establish that a contractor or implementing agency has been selected. Ownership is also unresolved in published reporting. Telangana Today said it was unclear whether the sites belonged to the revenue department or private owners; Metro India separately reported that the land was not corporate land. How much will the cleanup cost?
G Srijana’s reported estimate is ₹30 crore to ₹40 crore. This is an estimate, not a tender award, signed contract value or final expenditure. The October report does not provide a cost breakdown. (Telangana Today, October 4, 2026)

How much waste is at the two sites?
The October account says CMC officials estimated about 2,000 tonnes in each mound. They described the material as broken concrete walls, pillars and blocks; stone rubble and bricks; wood and metals; rusted steel, aluminium and iron fixtures; and waste rexine and clothes. These are attributed estimates, not a reported final measurement. (Telangana Today, October 4, 2026)
Earlier July reports gave much larger figures, and the published accounts do not reconcile the difference:

Where can builders take C&D waste instead?
The New Indian Express reported that CMC’s Gowlidoddy C&D Waste Designated Collection Point was being opened as an authorised alternative to dumping debris in public places, serving Gachibowli and other western growth corridors. That report listed a minimum fee of ₹450 per tonne and an integrated weighbridge and data-recording system. The fee is for the designated collection point, not a unit cost for the proposed mound cleanup. Check current access and charges with the facility or CMC before arranging a delivery, since operating details can change. CMC Additional Commissioner (Health and Sanitation) G Venugopal Reddy said a designated place was needed alongside enforcement: “If somebody wants to deposit C&D waste, there is no place for them. Simply imposing a fine will not work. There is a need to provide a place where people can come and deposit the waste,” he said. (The New Indian Express, July 1, 2026)
What should residents and contractors watch for next?
The next meaningful updates are whether the Telangana government grants final clearance, which agency is appointed, when work starts and whether the two-month estimate holds. A confirmed quantity and clarification of site ownership would also help establish the scope of the work. Metro India reported that the 2025 C&D Waste Management Rules took effect on April 1, 2026; that report provides regulatory context but does not specify the detailed legal obligations applicable to this project.
