The Creality Falcon2 Pro is an enclosed blue-diode laser engraver and cutter available in 22W, 40W and 60W versions. It is a strong choice for supervised work on wood, plywood, leather, cardboard and suitable opaque acrylic, but it is not a substitute for a CO2 laser on clear acrylic or a fiber laser for serious bare-metal marking. The 40W model is the sensible middle ground for many buyers; choose the 22W for general engraving and moderate cutting, or the 60W when thicker stock and fewer cutting passes justify the extra cost and operating demands.
What is the Creality Falcon2 Pro?
The Falcon2 Pro is a desktop CNC-style laser machine: the laser head moves across a work area while a focused beam engraves or cuts the material below it. Unlike Creality’s open-frame Falcon2, the Pro integrates an enclosure, camera-based positioning and safety systems intended to make the machine easier to contain and supervise.

All three versions use a 455 ± 5 nm blue diode laser. The nominal optical-power choices are 22W, 40W and 60W. The 40W and 60W configurations may include a separate 1.6W module for finer engraving, depending on the exact regional bundle. Creality’s documentation hub and the relevant product listing should be checked before purchase because package contents vary.
It is better understood as an enclosed, high-power craft and small-production laser than as a “laser printer.” The beam can ignite material, produce smoke and damage the machine or its optics if unsuitable stock is used.

Falcon2 Pro 22W vs. 40W vs. 60W
| Feature | 22W | 40W | 60W |
|---|---|---|---|
| Laser type | Blue diode | Blue diode | Blue diode |
| Nominal optical power | 22W | 40W | 60W |
| Nominal work area | 400 × 415 mm | 400 × 415 mm | 400 × 400 mm according to Creality’s FAQ |
| 1.6W detail module | Generally not included | Included with relevant bundles | Included with relevant bundles |
| Best suited to | Engraving and moderate cutting | Faster, deeper cutting with a detail option | Maximum cutting capacity in the family |
| Main compromise | More cutting passes | Higher cost and heat load | Highest cost and material-management demands |
Creality’s published dimensions are approximately 664 × 570 × 328.4 mm. Listed approximate weights are 18.04 kg for the 22W, 18.56 kg for the 40W and 18.87 kg for the 60W. The documentation specifies 100–240V, 50–60Hz input compatibility and a recommended operating temperature of 5°C–35°C. Allow additional room for exhaust tubing, air-assist equipment, loading material and cleaning.
Because Creality’s FAQ and some product pages differ on the 60W bed dimension, confirm the exact specification for the regional model you are buying rather than assuming every Falcon2 Pro has the same workspace.
Which version should you buy?
- Choose the 22W if your work is mainly engraving, thin wood, leather, cardboard and other moderate cutting. It is the lowest-power entry point and makes sense when speed is secondary.
- Choose the 40W if thicker wood or plywood, faster production and a balance between price and cutting power matter. It is the most broadly sensible option for many makers and small businesses.
- Choose the 60W if maximum diode cutting power is the priority and you accept higher cost, more demanding ventilation, greater heat and more testing. It remains a blue-diode machine, not a 60W CO2 laser.
What can the Falcon2 Pro engrave and cut?
Creality lists cardboard, wood, bamboo, rubber, leather, fabric, acrylic and plastic among the compatible material categories. That list needs interpretation: a material category is not a guarantee that every product within it is safe or suitable.
Good starting materials
Wood, plywood, paperboard, leather and dark or opaque acrylic are the most obvious use cases. Blue diode light is absorbed more effectively by dark surfaces than by transparent ones, so black, colored or coated acrylic is generally more practical than clear acrylic.
Materials requiring caution
“Plastic” is too broad to be a safe instruction. Different plastics melt, ignite or release hazardous gases. Do not process PVC, vinyl or unknown plastic. Identify the exact material and consult its safety data before lasering it.
Transparent acrylic is a poor match for a blue diode because much of the light can pass through it. If clear-acrylic cutting is a primary requirement, a CO2 laser is usually the more appropriate technology.

Bare reflective metals are not normal cutting targets for the Falcon2 Pro. Painted, anodized, coated or marking-compound-treated metal may be markable under suitable conditions, but that is different from directly engraving or cutting bare steel or aluminum. Treat claims about metal carefully: a manufacturer reference to a thin stainless-steel result does not make the machine a general-purpose metal cutter.

How powerful is the 60W version in practice?
Creality’s Canadian 60W listing advertises cutting up to 22 mm basswood and 0.2 mm stainless steel in one pass under stated conditions. These are manufacturer claims, not universal results. The stainless-steel reference should not be interpreted as ordinary deep cutting of bare metal.
Actual results depend on optical power, material species, density, thickness, moisture, focus, flatness, air assist, speed, power, passes, lens cleanliness, ventilation and ambient conditions. Even a high-power model may need multiple passes for production-quality cuts, and a maximum-depth cut may have more charring or a less desirable edge than a slower, shallower job.
Separate three expectations:
- Maximum claim: a published result achieved under particular conditions.
- Beginner expectation: straightforward engraving and cutting of thin, known materials after testing.
- Production expectation: repeatable results established through a material library, consistent stock, clean optics, reliable airflow and regular inspection.
There is no universal best setting. Build a test grid for every new material and thickness, varying speed, power and passes before committing valuable stock.
Enclosure, camera and air assist
Enclosure
The enclosure helps contain the beam and smoke and makes the Falcon2 Pro easier to supervise than an open-frame engraver. It does not eliminate fire risk, toxic emissions or the need for ventilation.
Creality identifies the machine as Class 1 under FDA classification in relevant documentation and commercial material. That classification applies to the intended enclosed configuration. The manual warns that radiation at the aperture can exceed Class 1 if enclosure assumptions are defeated or the machine is altered.

Camera positioning
The built-in camera is useful for aligning artwork to an existing object, placing designs on scraps or irregular stock and reducing material waste. The 60W product page describes a 360° visual-positioning camera covering the workspace.
Camera positioning is not an automatic precision guarantee. Calibration, perspective, reflections, lighting and material placement can introduce errors. Warped or moving stock can defeat even a correctly calibrated camera. Use the camera to position the job, then perform a frame or low-power outline check before engraving.
Camera menus and workflows can differ between Falcon Design Space, LightBurn and LaserGRBL, as well as between firmware versions. Follow the instructions for the selected software rather than assuming their labels are identical.

Air assist is a core operating component, not merely a performance accessory. It helps clear smoke from the cut, reduce flare-ups, improve edge quality and limit soot on the workpiece. Exhaust performs a different job: it removes contaminated air from the enclosure. Filtration recirculates air through a purifier and depends on suitable, maintained filters; it does not make every emission harmless.
Connect the supplied silicone tube to the laser module as directed to reduce lens contamination. Smoke buildup, inadequate airflow and dirty optics can all reduce cutting performance.

Safety: what Class 1 does and does not mean
Do not operate the Falcon2 Pro unattended. Keep the enclosure intact, never bypass interlocks or sensors, do not look directly at the beam and do not touch the moving system or laser module during operation. Keep the work area free of debris and have an appropriate fire extinguisher available.
Vent smoke outdoors through a properly designed system or use suitable filtration. The enclosure does not make unknown materials safe. Inspect the work continuously for flame or flare-ups.
Removing the bottom tray, raising the machine for oversized work or installing a rotary attachment can introduce laser-light leakage. Creality’s compatibility table should be checked for the exact model and accessory. Such a setup is not simply the same as ordinary enclosed flat-stock operation.

Common problems and recovery
Flame or flare-up
Stop the job immediately. Keep the enclosure closed unless emergency intervention requires otherwise. If safe, disconnect power and use an appropriate extinguisher if the flame does not go out. Do not restart until the material, tray, lens and airflow path have been inspected. Common causes include excessive power, low speed, contaminated or resinous wood, poor air assist, debris and unsuitable material.

Poor cutting despite high power
Check focus, material flatness, lens contamination, tubing, material density, speed, pass count and the selected optical-power mode. The material may simply absorb 455 nm light poorly; do not assume the laser module has failed.
Sooty or smoky edges
Possible causes include insufficient air assist, excessive power, low speed, poor exhaust or unsuitable material. Clean the optics and run a test matrix before changing hardware.
Camera alignment errors
Clean the camera lens, confirm the correct workspace dimensions, recalibrate if necessary, flatten the material and frame the design. Reflections and unusual lighting can distort the view.
Unexpected movement or alarm
Creality’s FAQ describes a protective response in which abnormal movement can turn off the laser, stop the motors, blink the indicator and sound the buzzer rapidly. Stop the job and check for obstructions, tray placement, cable problems, enclosure sensors and the software connection before restarting.
Alternatives by technology
| Technology | Best for | Trade-off |
|---|---|---|
| Open-frame diode | Lower-cost entry and oversized stock | More exposure, smoke and shielding responsibility |
| Hybrid diode/IR | Blue-diode work plus more flexible metal marking | May have a smaller work area or higher cost |
| CO2 | Clear acrylic, thicker acrylic and stronger general cutting | More space, ventilation, maintenance and infrastructure |
| Fiber | Direct metal marking and engraving | Poor fit for ordinary wood-and-craft work and usually much more expensive |
Choose a CO2 system if clear acrylic, deep cutting or throughput dominates your requirements. Choose a hybrid diode/IR system if metal marking is important and a smaller bed is acceptable. Choose fiber when metal is the primary workpiece.
Buying checklist
- Identify the exact optical-power variant and regional bundle.
- Confirm whether the 1.6W module is included.
- Verify the model-specific work area, especially for the 60W version.
- Budget for air assist, exhaust or filtration, a suitable work surface, materials and fire-safety equipment.
- Confirm your computer’s operating-system compatibility and preferred software.
- Provide a stable workspace larger than the machine footprint.
- Verify rotary-accessory compatibility before buying it.
- Do not choose the Falcon2 Pro if you primarily need clear-acrylic cutting, direct deep metal work, unattended production or a large pass-through bed.
Verdict
The Falcon2 Pro is a capable enclosed diode platform for makers, sign businesses and small-batch producers who mainly work with wood, plywood, leather, cardboard and suitable opaque acrylic. Its enclosure and camera improve the workflow, but they do not replace ventilation, material testing, fire monitoring or operator supervision.
The 40W Falcon2 Pro is the rational default for buyers who want a balance of cutting power and cost. The 22W is sufficient for engraving and moderate cutting, while the 60W is for buyers who genuinely need the family’s maximum diode cutting capacity and understand its limitations. None of these versions should be judged as a CO2 or fiber-laser replacement.
