Construction began October 9, 2026, on a proposed two-family home at 483 Main St. in Wareham, Massachusetts. Developer Nazih Elkallassi said he hopes to complete it by March or April 2027. Three other duplexes proposed for nearby lots remain contingent on market demand; they are not confirmed construction projects.
What is being built, and where?
The first reported construction is at 483 Main St. The broader proposal includes four potential two-family homes at 477, 479, 481 and 483 Main St. Wareham Week described the homes as two-story houses on half-acre lots, each with a farmer’s porch. The developer called them “good starter homes,” but the report gives no prices or other information that would establish affordability.

When might the first home be finished?
Elkallassi told Wareham Week that he expected the home at 483 Main St. to be completed by March or April 2027. That is his projected schedule, not a confirmed completion date. The report does not provide a construction schedule for the other proposed homes.

What happened in the wetlands review?
According to Wareham Week, separate project notices for all four proposed duplexes were filed with Wareham’s Conservation Commission in August 2026 and approved in September. The report says each site falls within a nearby wetland’s 100-foot buffer but is more than 30 feet from the wetland’s edge, described in the story as the required distance.
Elkallassi characterized the process as “very simple, by the book,” and said, “The Conservation Commission is tough, so to approve it means they liked it.” Those are his views of the review, not independent findings about the commission or its decision.

What else is on the site?
A cranberry shed at 477 Main St. is expected to remain for now. Wareham Week reported no plans for its future use.
The lots had also been used for parking by Alcoholics Anonymous members attending meetings at Trinity Christian Church across the street. The report describes differing views about losing that parking: two AA members said there had not been many complaints, and one said some people were annoyed that the lot had been blocked for eight months before construction began but that the change was not too inconvenient. One church member summed up their own view by saying, “It’s not a big deal”; that comment should not be taken as representing every church member or AA attendee.

Wareham Week’s October 9, 2026, report does not provide sale prices, listing dates, floor plans, construction specifications or current availability. It also does not establish whether the three additional houses will be built, or what will eventually happen to the cranberry shed.
