What is ComfyAir?
ComfyAir was promoted as a compact window-mounted heating and cooling unit, with versions described for horizontal or vertical installation. The Kickstarter campaign reports 2,946 backers pledged $788,386 and was last updated December 17, 2023. Those figures document campaign pledges, not completed deliveries or retail availability. A July 20, 2023 Yanko Design article reported the $199 starting preorder offer and described heating, cooling, a claimed temperature range of 16°C–30°C, and two wind speeds. These are historical, article-reported product claims; they are not independent performance test results or confirmed final production specifications.
Is ComfyAir available now, and does the $199 price still apply?
The available campaign page and 2023 coverage do not establish current production, shipping, retail availability, warranty, or a current purchase channel. The $199 figure was a campaign-era preorder price reported in July 2023. It should not be treated as a price you can still pay. Before planning a purchase, look for a current offer from the manufacturer that identifies the final product, delivery terms, warranty, and applicable specifications.

Will ComfyAir fit your window?
The creator FAQ on Kickstarter gives creator-provided dimensions for the vertical version: 606 mm (23.9 in) long, with an extension board of about 40 cm (15.75 in), and a claimed vertical height range of 606–1006 mm (23.9–39.6 in). These figures describe campaign information, not independently measured dimensions of a confirmed retail unit. ComfyAir creator FAQ
The 2023 article describes horizontal and vertical versions and says the design can accommodate different window configurations. That does not establish that it fits every window or that a window can operate freely after installation. Before buying any window unit, measure the clear opening and compare it with the final unit’s installation manual; also check the window type, required support, clearance, and how the sash will be secured.

Is ComfyAir safe with rain, and where does condensate go?
The creator FAQ answers, “Yes, ComfyAir is safe with rain,” and says the exterior section and key components have waterproofing. It also says condensate drains through gutters at the back. These are the creator’s statements; the available sources do not document independent rain testing, a safety certification, or an inspected installation. For a construction decision, do not substitute campaign assurances for the final manufacturer’s weather-exposure, drainage, electrical, and installation instructions.

ComfyAir’s compact format and proposed installation orientations may be attractive where a conventional unit is awkward, but the available sources do not establish verified cooling capacity, room coverage, electrical requirements, installed dimensions, or tested performance. A familiar BTU rating and manufacturer room-size guidance make conventional units easier to evaluate, provided the exact model is currently orderable.

What to verify before specifying or buying a window AC
- Orderability and total cost: Confirm current stock, delivery, taxes, required accessories, and installation costs rather than relying on a campaign price or clearance listing.
- Cooling capacity: Compare a stated BTU rating and manufacturer room guidance. “Compact” alone does not tell you whether a unit can serve the space.
- Opening and support: Check clear width and height, window style, unit weight, support method, sash security, and required clearances against the final installation documents.
- Electrical and water management: Confirm voltage and outlet requirements, drainage provisions, and instructions for rain exposure and installation. Use the final manufacturer documentation, not an unverified campaign description.
- Verified features: Separate published specifications from promotional descriptions such as “whisper-quiet” or “zero assembly”; neither wording establishes measured performance or suitability for a specific building.
- Documentation: Ask for the final model’s specifications, installation guide, warranty, and applicable safety certifications before incorporating the unit into a renovation or construction scope.
