Clark Construction says it recycled more than 108,000 tons of waste across 17 projects submitted for sustainability certification in 2025. The company published the figure on September 29, 2026; it is a company-reported total, not an independently audited result, and does not represent every Clark project that year.
What Clark’s 108,000-ton figure covers
In its September 29, 2026 report, Clark Construction’s “LEEDing the Way on Waste Diversion” says the 17 projects it submitted for sustainability certification in 2025 recycled more than 108,000 tons of waste. Clark also says those projects exceeded the diversion needed for corresponding LEED points in nearly every instance.

The report does not provide project-by-project tonnage, a breakdown by material, calculation details, or an independent audit. It also gives no all-project total for Clark’s 2025 work, so the 108,000-plus tons should be understood as the reported total for those 17 certification-submitted projects only.
The Stacks exceeded its stated diversion threshold
For The Stacks, a three-building project in Washington, DC, Clark says each building needed 75% waste diversion to earn two points toward LEED Gold. The company reports that each achieved 94.85% diversion.
#1 Best Overall
- HEAVY-DUTY: Constructed with the highest quality material plus a UV inhibitor ensures long life in even the most extreme environments. Guaranteed to never fade, warp, crack, or crush.
- EFFICIENT: Innovative venting channels make lifting out liners up to 50% easier, improving productivity and reducing the risk of injury.
- TIME-SAVINGS: Integrated cinches secure the liner, allowing for efficient knot free liner changes.
- DURABLE: Rounded handles make lifting and moving easier, and are reinforced to resist tearing or damage from even the heaviest loads.
- TOUGH: Reinforced base is specifically engineered to be dragged over rough surfaces, extending life and overall durability even in the toughest environments.
| Measure | Clark’s reported figure |
|---|---|
| Threshold for two LEED points toward LEED Gold | 75% per building |
| Achieved diversion | 94.85% per building |
Both figures come from Clark’s report. It does not describe the calculation method, so the percentages cannot be independently assessed from the published information alone.
Reuse can keep materials in the project
Clark describes practices that go beyond sending waste to recycling facilities. At Western State Hospital in Lakewood, Washington, the company says some timber columns are made from trees harvested directly on the site during demolition.

- PCR: Made of post-consumer recycled resin for commercial recycling use
- BUILT-IN HANDLES: Enable easier lifting and carrying
- DESIGNED TO EASILY STACK: Designed to stack or nest for increased productivity
- DURABLE: Commercial grade construction to withstand years of indoor and outdoor use
- EASY TO CLEAN: Texture and design prevent liquid and debris build up for easy cleaning
For concrete, Clark says it crushes demolition material and reuses it as sub-base on the same site. That can keep material out of the waste stream and may reduce the need to purchase or transport substitute material. The report provides no concrete quantities or cost savings for this example.
How Clark says it tracks project waste
Clark says haulers provide weight tickets for every load, while its Wastewise app collects project-level information for LEED documentation and other client-specific sustainability requirements. The company does not detail the app’s capabilities or verification controls, and the report does not say that the app is available outside Clark’s operations.
Rank #3
- RECYCLE: Blue color and recycling symbol for improved waste diversion
- EFFORTLESS BAG REMOVAL: Venting channels make removing liners from the container up to 80% easier, improving productivity and reducing the risk of injury.
- TRASH BAG CINCHES: 4 bag cinches secure liners around the rim of the container and create quick, knot-free liner changes.
- ERGONOMIC HANDLES: Robust handles at the base and rim of the container resist tearing and improve control while lifting and emptying.
- STRUCTURAL RIBBING: Rib-strengthened rim resists crushing while the step design prevents jamming when nested.
What the report does not establish
- How the 108,000-plus-ton total was calculated or independently verified.
- How much waste each of the 17 projects generated or diverted.
- How the reported total compares with Clark’s performance in other years.
- Material-specific totals or detailed cost effects from reuse and diversion.
Clark also anticipates increased attention to diversion as USGBC transitions from LEED v4 to v5. That is the company’s expectation; the report does not quantify the effect of the transition.
