How to choose between a 0.7- and 0.9-cubic-foot model
Choose by the dish you need to fit
Capacity is only a rough guide to usable space. Measure your most-used plate or container, then compare it with the cavity and turntable dimensions in the exact model’s manual. The RGST902 manual supplies both cavity and exterior dimensions; the KOR-9G3A manual gives exterior dimensions, but confirm their orientation and revision before using them for a tight counter fit. Compare output separately from electrical input
Microwave output is not the same figure as electrical input or consumption. The EM720CWA-PM is rated at 700 W microwave output and 1050 W input; RGST902 is rated at 900 W output and 1350 W consumption; KOR-9G3A is rated at 900 W output and 1350 W input. Compare like with like, using the exact manual or appliance label. Higher rated output alone does not prove better heating performance.
Check counter space and ventilation
Measure the available counter area and allow for the clearances required by the particular manual. For EM720CWA-PM, the manual requires at least 3 in. (7.5 cm) at the sides and rear, at least 12 in. (30 cm) above, and one side left open. Those instructions are model-specific; do not assume another Rival model has identical clearance requirements. [c002]

Match controls to how you cook
Check the exact manual for time or weight defrost, power levels, one-touch menus, quick-start increments, and child lock rather than assuming these features are shared across the lineup. KOR-9G3A’s manual specifies ten power selections. For any other control feature, confirm it in that model’s manual before buying. [c003]
What to inspect before buying a used Rival microwave
An external check can help identify obvious problems, but it is not a safety certification. Inspect the door, hinges, latch, seals, power cord, turntable ring, and glass tray. Do not use a unit with apparent door, latch, hinge, or seal damage; consult its manual and qualified service personnel. The EM720CWA-PM manual says not to operate the oven with the door open, tamper with safety interlocks, or operate a damaged oven. It also requires a grounded outlet. Before committing to an older model, compare it with currently available countertop microwaves by capacity, rated output, footprint, controls, door release, warranty, and parts support. Do not assume one Rival tray fits every model. The EM720CWA-PM manual states: “Both glass tray and turntable ring assembly must always be used during cooking.” A specialist retailer lists a roughly 10-inch replacement plate for EM720CWA-PM and a different roughly 10.5-inch plate for RGST902/KOR-9G3A. Check your exact model number, tray diameter, underside coupling, and track against the seller’s compatibility details before ordering. [c002][c005][c006]
