What counts as an outdoor air fryer?
The term can describe two very different outdoor appliances. Char-Broil markets the Big Easy Outdoor Air Fryer as an oil-less propane cooker that uses its TRU-Infrared system. Nexgrill’s fish and wing fryers are propane-powered but use a pot of cooking oil, so they are conventional outdoor fryers—not air fryers.

Char-Broil’s product page calls the Big Easy “The Big Easy® Outdoor Air Fryer: You name it, you can cook it.” That is promotional copy, not an independent performance assessment. The product page is available at Char-Broil’s Big Easy Outdoor Air Fryer page.

Choose based on the food you actually cook
For a whole turkey or other large cut
The Big Easy is the option here with a stated whole-turkey capacity: Char-Broil lists up to 16 pounds. It also lists a whole chicken of the same weight, an 8-pound roast, or a 6-pound pork shoulder. Check the product instructions and the size of your food before buying; the listed maximums are manufacturer claims, not independent fit tests.

For two large pieces of meat
Char-Broil describes its compatible Bunk Bed Basket, model 6584315P06, as allowing two large pieces of meat to cook at once in the Big Easy. That may suit a cook who needs more than one large item but does not want to switch to an oil fryer. Confirm compatibility for the exact appliance before ordering.
For fish, wings, or larger fried batches
Nexgrill’s 18-quart unit has double baskets and is positioned for larger batches or two dishes; the 10-quart fryer is presented as a smaller-gathering option. Both use oil, so choose one only if traditional deep-frying—not oil-less infrared cooking—is what you want.

Plan for propane, location, and attention
All three options discussed here use propane, so they are intended for outdoor use. Char-Broil describes the Big Easy as suitable for backyard cooking, camping, and tailgating, and mentions handles; check its manual for dimensions, transport details, and operating requirements before planning to move or store it.
Nexgrill says its propane fryers should be placed on a flat, non-combustible surface, with oil levels and temperatures monitored. Follow the instructions supplied with whichever appliance you choose, and do not treat any of these products as safe to leave unattended.

On October 4, 2026, Char-Broil’s product page displayed the Big Easy at $149.99 and marked it “Out of Stock.” Price and stock status are time-sensitive; check the current Char-Broil listing before making a purchase. The product page names Amazon among retailers, but that does not confirm a live listing, current price, or availability there.

How long does a turkey take?
Char-Broil’s FAQ estimates roughly 8–10 minutes per pound for turkey and says smaller foods cook faster. Treat that as a rough manufacturer estimate, not a guaranteed schedule: actual time can vary, and elapsed time alone does not establish that poultry is safe to eat. Use a food thermometer and follow current food-safety guidance for the required internal temperature before serving.
