Choose a grip that you can control
Pencil, custom, pistol, and Thomas-style grips differ in shape and leverage. The guide describes pistol grips as useful for beginners or quick cuts in thicker sheets, but grip comfort is personal. Check the wheel and head
The guide discusses both tungsten-carbide and steel-alloy wheels. It also describes fixed, swivel, and replaceable-head designs. A replaceable head can be useful when a cutter offers options for different thicknesses, but a replacement must be compatible with the specific tool.
Decide how you want to lubricate the wheel

What oil do you use with a glass cutter?
Oil-feed arrangements vary by model: some cutters feed oil from a reservoir, while others require oil to be applied during use. Use the lubrication method specified in the cutter’s instructions. How does scoring differ from breaking glass?
The cutter makes the score; breaking or running the glass is a separate operation. Delphi describes its Palm Runner as a tool placed over a score and pressed to break the glass, and its catalog also lists running pliers and cutting oil.
