The right GE electric range depends on your kitchen fit, cooking needs, and the features listed for the exact model—not on a universal “best” ranking. Before you buy, verify the model’s cooktop type, oven modes, connectivity, dimensions, and installation requirements; GE’s Profile PHS700AYFS is one documented smart slide-in induction and convection candidate, not a proven winner over the full lineup.

Range selection is also a construction decision. Coordinate the appliance with the cabinet opening, countertop edges, electrical supply, ventilation, flooring, delivery route, and remodel schedule so that installation does not become a last-minute fit problem.

How to Choose a GE Electric Range

Start with the way you cook and the space you have. GE offers smart range designs in slide-in and freestanding configurations, but features differ by model. Compare individual product specifications and the owner’s manual rather than assuming that a range has a particular cooktop, oven mode, cleaning system, or app function.

What to compare What to verify
Cooktop Whether the exact model is radiant electric or induction; for induction, check cookware compatibility.
Configuration Freestanding or slide-in design, and whether it has a single or double oven.
Oven functions The named cooking modes and cleaning system on the model specification page and in its manual. “Convection” alone does not identify every available function.
Connectivity Whether the exact model is identified as WiFi Connect or Smart, and which functions require network access or Remote Enable.
Installation Model dimensions, electrical and installation requirements, finish, delivery conditions, and warranty.
Purchase details Current price and availability from the model page and retailer before ordering.

A Documented Smart-Range Candidate

GE identifies the GE Profile PHS700AYFS as a 30-inch smart slide-in induction and convection range with No Preheat Air Fry and an EasyWash Oven Tray. GE’s owner center lists it as manufactured from May 2025 to present. These details establish the model’s identity and listed features; they do not establish current retailer stock, price, comparative performance, or that it is the best GE range.

What GE Range Connectivity Does

GE describes SmartHQ as its app for connecting, controlling, and managing smart appliances. Depending on the range model, connected functions can include remote preheating, temperature and timer controls, alerts, and feature updates. These are model-dependent conveniences, not standard features of every GE electric range.

Remote functions require a home network connection. Some models require Remote Enable for remote control; GE says models starting in late 2021 do not use that control step. Setup also varies by model. GE’s instructions direct users to download SmartHQ, sign in or create an account, and follow the applicable range setup flow.

Check the exact product page for “WiFi Connect” or “Smart” before expecting app control. GE says a model without either designation is not connectable. Review the model’s support documentation for network and control requirements as well.

Convection and Other Oven Modes

Do not treat the word “convection” as a complete comparison. GE says convection systems and available modes vary by model. Check each candidate’s named functions and owner’s manual to understand what it can do, and do not infer features from another model in the same family.

Likewise, verify any advertised cooking or cleaning mode on the individual model page. Feature names and availability should be checked against the range’s specifications and documentation before you buy.

Plan the Fit Before Ordering

A range must fit the finished kitchen, not just the space occupied by the old appliance. Use the installation instructions for the exact model and confirm its dimensions and installation requirements before ordering.

Check the opening and surrounding finishes

Measure the finished cabinet opening and check floor-to-counter height, floor level, countertop edges, backsplash thickness, outlet location, and delivery access. Account for flooring that may stop short beneath the current range. If new flooring, cabinets, or counters are part of the project, coordinate their dimensions and sequence with the selected appliance.

Freestanding and slide-in designs are not interchangeable by appearance alone. A slide-in can expose countertop edges and backsplash details, so confirm the exact fit and any required trim or clearances with the product instructions and relevant trades before countertop templating.

Verify electrical and installation requirements

Have a qualified professional check the electrical supply against the exact model’s installation instructions and local requirements. Verify the circuit, receptacle, grounding, cord, and outlet location rather than assuming that an existing connection is suitable. Local code requirements can vary, so ask the local authority or a licensed electrician when uncertain.

If the range is moving, coordinate electrical rough-in with cabinet plans. An outlet in the wrong location can interfere with the appliance sitting in its intended position. Confirm who will install and verify the anti-tip bracket, and whether electrical work requires a permit or inspection.

Coordinate delivery and ventilation

Check doorways, halls, stairs, turns, and island clearances along the delivery path. Confirm that ventilation suits the way you cook and that any hood or microwave-hood changes are included in the remodel plan.

Installation and Project Coordination

Homeowners can compare models, measure the opening, review the manual, and check cookware compatibility for induction. Electrical connections, uncertain wiring, range relocation, and questions about local code are reasons to involve a licensed electrician. Cabinet, countertop, flooring, and backsplash changes should be coordinated with the appliance selection before installation day.

  1. Choose a candidate model based on cooking needs and kitchen configuration.
  2. Review its GE product page, installation instructions, and owner’s manual for features and fit requirements.
  3. Measure the finished opening, surrounding surfaces, outlet position, and delivery route.
  4. Ask a qualified professional to verify electrical requirements and any needed work.
  5. Coordinate cabinets, counters, flooring, backsplash, ventilation, delivery, and inspection timing.
  6. Confirm current price, availability, installation arrangements, and anti-tip bracket installation before ordering.

FAQ

Which GE electric range is right for my kitchen?

Choose by cooktop type, configuration, oven functions, connectivity, and fit. Compare the exact models that meet your needs and verify their current specifications and installation requirements; the available evidence does not support naming one range as best overall.

Does my appliance have WiFi capability?

Check the exact model’s GE product page for “WiFi Connect” or “Smart.” GE says a model without either designation is not connectable. Connected functions and requirements vary by model.

What does a smart GE range do?

Depending on the model, SmartHQ-connected functions can include remote preheating, temperature and timer controls, alerts, and feature updates. Remote use requires network connectivity, and some models also require Remote Enable.

Does every GE convection range have the same modes?

No. GE says convection systems and available modes vary. Check the individual model specifications and owner’s manual rather than inferring features from the convection label.

Is the GE Profile PHS700AYFS the best GE electric range?

The documentation identifies it as a 30-inch smart slide-in induction and convection range with No Preheat Air Fry and an EasyWash Oven Tray. That does not establish its price, availability, performance relative to other ranges, or that it is the best choice for every kitchen.

What should I check before installing a range?

Verify the exact model’s dimensions and installation instructions, finished opening, electrical requirements, outlet location, countertop and backsplash fit, delivery route, and any local permit or inspection needs. Ask a qualified professional to resolve electrical or code questions.
