There is no evidence-backed universal winner for killing both ants and spiders. For visible pests, choose a contact spray whose current label lists both pests and the exact place you plan to treat. For indoor ant trails, a labeled bait station may be a better fit—but bait stations target specific ant species and do not treat spiders. Always follow the product label; directions and permitted uses differ by product.
Choose by pest and treatment job
| Option | What it targets | Best fit | Important limits |
|---|---|---|---|
| Ant bait station | Ant species listed on that product’s label | Indoor ant trails or suspected nesting areas, where the label allows placement | Does not target spiders. Species exclusions and placement rules vary; keep stations inaccessible to children and pets. |
| Contact spray | Ants and spiders when both are listed on the label | Visible pests or specified spot and crack-and-crevice treatments | Permitted locations, application methods, and precautions are product-specific. Do not assume every spray is suitable for every surface or area. |
The available EPA labels do not provide head-to-head efficacy trials, so they do not establish which product works fastest, lasts longest, or controls the most pests.
When ant bait stations make sense
The EPA label for MGK Formula 31882 covers bait stations for specified ant species, but excludes fire, carpenter, harvester, and pharaoh ants. Its indoor directions call for placement near observed trails or suspected nesting areas, in places children and pets cannot access. The label also says to inspect stations periodically and replace them as needed. These directions apply to that product, not automatically to other baits. Read the MGK Formula 31882 label.
- Identify the ant as confidently as you can and check that the species appears on the label.
- Place the station only where the label permits and where children and pets cannot reach it.
- Do not spray insecticide over the station: the MGK label warns that this may make the bait repellent.
- Keep food and food-processing surfaces from being contaminated. The label notes that removing food and water sources helps bait acceptance.
When to use a spray labeled for both ants and spiders
A contact spray can address visible ants and spiders if the specific product label lists both pests and permits treatment at the intended site. For example, the EPA label for Insecticide 2656 RTU lists both pests for contact-spray uses and includes precautions for food, utensils, and food-handling surfaces. Check the Insecticide 2656 RTU label.

The EPA master label for CS 101 Roach & Ant Spray, dated September 29, 2025, also lists ants and spiders for specified spot and crack-and-crevice treatments. It limits spot-treatment size and directs users to avoid contamination and runoff. Those limits are specific to that label; do not apply them as general spray directions. Review the CS 101 master label.
Check the label before treating
Use the label for the exact product in hand, not directions copied from another spray or bait. Confirm that it lists the pest, the intended indoor or outdoor location, and the treatment method. Follow its precautions for food, utensils, surfaces, children, pets, and application. The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency’s consumer guidance is direct: “Always read and follow the pesticide label’s instructions and safety warnings.” See EPA’s Do’s and Don’ts of Pest Control and its consumer pest-control resources.
