Top-freezer

Choose this format if that arrangement suits your routine and the particular model fits your measured space.
Bottom-freezer
A bottom-freezer places fresh food higher and frozen food below. Listed examples include ABB1921BRM (29-inch), ABB1924BRM (29-inch), and ABB2224BRM (33-inch, listed at 22 cu. ft.). The chart’s dimensions and capacities are model-specific; check the exact listing and installation guide before deciding.

Side-by-side
A side-by-side keeps fresh and frozen food in adjacent vertical compartments, with narrower doors than many wide-swing layouts. Amana’s chart lists ASI2175GRS (33-inch) and ASI2575GRS (36-inch). Amana’s general clearance guidance calls for 3-3/4 inches on both sides of a side-by-side refrigerator, so account for that when checking the opening.
The listed models are examples from Amana’s comparison page, not a ranked shortlist or a promise of current stock. Check the current model listing for exact capacity, finish, dimensions, features, availability, and price.

How to measure for an Amana refrigerator
Amana’s buying guide says: “Before you buy, measure the height, width and depth of your cutout space.” Measure the full delivery route as well; a refrigerator that fits the finished opening may still be blocked by a doorway, hallway, or other entry point.
Check the opening and clearances
- Measure the cutout’s height, width, and depth, and compare those figures with the exact model’s dimensions.
- For a refrigerator with an ice maker or dispenser, allow 1/2 inch behind the unit for water lines, according to Amana’s general guidance.
- Allow 1/2 inch above the refrigerator.
- Allow at least 3-3/4 inches on the hinged side and 1/2 inch on the non-hinged side. For side-by-side refrigerators, Amana calls for 3-3/4 inches on both sides.
- Measure doorways, hallways, and other entry points on the way to the kitchen.
These are manufacturer guidelines, not a substitute for the installation instructions for the model you are buying. Confirm the exact clearances and any other installation requirements in that model’s guide.
What to compare beyond configuration
Once the layout and fit work, compare the exact model’s capacity and features against your needs. Do not assume a feature is included across the Amana range just because it appears on a brand feature page.
- Capacity and dimensions: Check the model-specific capacity, width, height, and depth rather than relying on the configuration name alone.
- Ice and water: Decide whether you need an ice maker or external ice and water dispensing. Confirm the feature is listed for the exact model, and include water-line clearance in your fit check when applicable.

- Cooling options: Amana describes a Fast Cool option; verify its availability on the particular model. Feature descriptions are manufacturer claims, not independent performance findings.
- Finish and availability: Confirm the finish and variant you want are available where you plan to buy. Prices, promotions, inventory, and model availability can change.
Does the evidence establish a best Amana refrigerator?
No independent comparison of Amana models’ reliability or cooling performance is established by the available manufacturer sources. The official chart identifies models and features, but it does not provide a basis for naming a performance or reliability winner. How to verify a model before buying or maintaining it
Use the full model identifier—not just “Amana refrigerator”—to confirm that you are comparing the right unit. For example, a search for “Amana ABB2224BRM refrigerator” is more specific than a brand-only search, but any retailer or marketplace listing still needs to match the model and finish you intend to buy.
For an existing refrigerator, Amana’s owner center links to manuals, troubleshooting, parts, service, and refrigerator water filters. Check compatibility by exact model and part number before ordering a filter or replacement part.
