The 2026 Fourth of July appliance sales are over. The strongest visible promotion came from Best Buy, which advertised up to 45% off select major appliances, free major-appliance delivery, and up to $1,000 in additional package savings. Lowe’s ran a broad June 18–July 9 event, The Home Depot promoted category-based appliance discounts, and Costco featured appliances in its seasonal sale without one universal appliance discount.
The useful lesson is that the biggest percentage is not necessarily the best deal. Compare the exact model, delivery, installation, required parts, haul-away, financing terms, and package price before deciding whether to buy during the next July 4 promotion—or wait for Labor Day, Black Friday, or another sale.

Best Buy: strongest headline offer
Best Buy’s 2026 appliance promotion was the clearest headline deal: up to 45% off select major appliances, free delivery on major appliances, up to $1,000 in additional appliance-package savings, and 24-month financing on qualifying purchases of $1,499 or more. The financing offer ended July 8.
The same promotion advertised French-door refrigerators from $1,099.99 after savings, washers and dryers from $399.99, and ranges from $499.99 after savings. Those were starting-price examples, not typical prices for every model. The “up to 45% off” claim applied only to selected appliances; individual products displayed different discount levels.
Best Buy also advertised select dishwasher installation as free, with a stated value of $179.99 on the relevant page. Delivery, however, was not the same as installation. Additional parts, extensive labor, installation, and haul-away could cost extra. Its price-matching policy also had exclusions, including Marketplace products.
Best for: a specific model with a substantial discount, a qualifying package, or a purchase where free delivery materially lowers the delivered cost.
Watch out for: assuming free delivery includes hookup, specialty parts, or removal of the old appliance.
Lowe’s: broad event, but no universal appliance discount
Lowe’s listed its 2026 Fourth of July event from June 18 through July 9 and specifically included appliance savings. The event also covered outdoor equipment, patio products, and other home-improvement categories.
The landing page did not establish one discount that applied to every appliance. Lowe’s also ran separate major-appliance promotions during the broader summer period, so not every June offer should be attributed solely to the July 4 event.

Best for: shoppers comparing appliances with installation, financing, local availability, or other renovation purchases.
Watch out for: treating the largest seasonal headline as though it applied to the refrigerator, range, or laundry pair you actually want.
The Home Depot: useful thresholds for larger purchases
The Home Depot’s July 4 appliance page covered refrigerators and freezers, dishwashers, ranges and ovens, microwaves, and washers and dryers. Its pages showed conflicting end dates: the appliance-sale page stated June 25 through July 8, while a broader July 4 landing page stated that the event ended July 9. That difference should be checked against the written promotion for any future sale.
A separate Home Depot offer-guidelines page illustrated the retailer’s recurring threshold structure, although the cited offer was a Memorial Day promotion rather than proof of the exact July 4 terms. It offered up to $400 off qualifying refrigeration purchases of $2,498 or more, up to $250 off laundry purchases of $1,698 or more, up to $250 off cooking purchases of $1,498 or more, and up to $100 off dishwashers of $798 or more.
The same guidelines showed why delivery must be included in the calculation: free standard delivery applied to qualifying special-order appliance purchases of $998 or more, while the cited promotion listed a $39 delivery fee below that threshold. Haul-away and installation were separate, with installation fees varying by ZIP code.
Best for: a kitchen or laundry purchase large enough to reach a qualifying spending tier.
Watch out for: a single appliance below the free-delivery threshold becoming less competitive after delivery, installation, parts, and haul-away.

Costco: evaluate membership value, not a headline percentage
Costco’s Fourth of July page grouped appliances with grills, food, outdoor products, mattresses, and other seasonal categories. It did not provide one universal appliance discount or one end date for every item.

Compare the Costco member price with the cost of membership and verify delivery, installation, haul-away, warranty, return, and fulfillment terms for the exact appliance. Joining solely for one purchase may not pay off if the membership fee or service limitations erase the price advantage.
Best for: an existing member who finds a competitive net price and values Costco-linked support or protection.
Watch out for: converting a general holiday page into a claim that every Costco appliance is discounted by the same percentage.
Best July 4 deals by appliance category
Refrigerators
Refrigerator discounts can look impressive because the starting prices are high, but fit and delivery risk matter as much as the sale price. Confirm width, height, depth, counter-depth versus standard-depth dimensions, door-swing clearance, water connection requirements, and the path through doors, hallways, elevators, and stairs.

A lower sticker price can be offset by a water line, installation charge, haul-away fee, or a failed delivery attempt.
Washers and dryers
Paired laundry appliances often receive useful bundle discounts, but compare the pair against the same models bought separately. Check whether the dryer requires gas or electricity, which cord is included, whether a stacking kit is required, and whether the delivery team will connect the units.

Best Buy’s 2026 pages showed featured washers and dryers from $399.99. The exact model, configuration, installation requirements, and availability determine whether that starting price is relevant to your home.
Dishwashers
Dishwasher offers should be judged partly by installation cost. A discount can disappear if the promotion excludes the connection kit, shutoff valve, electrical work, or labor. Best Buy advertised select dishwasher installation as free, while other retailers may charge separately.

Before ordering, confirm the opening width, height adjustment, drain connection, electrical configuration, and whether the existing installation can be reused.
Ranges, cooktops, and wall ovens
Cooking appliances vary significantly by fuel type and installation complexity. Verify gas versus electric compatibility, circuit requirements, anti-tip hardware, venting, cabinet dimensions, and whether a new gas connector or electrical work is needed.
The Home Depot’s cited threshold promotion illustrates how cooking appliances may receive larger savings when combined with other qualifying purchases. Do not assume those Memorial Day terms were the July 4 terms; compare the exact live offer.
Over-the-range microwaves
Over-the-range microwaves require more than a countertop outlet. Check cabinet width, mounting hardware, venting configuration, clearance above the range, and whether the retailer’s installation service covers the existing electrical and ductwork conditions.
Complete appliance packages
Packages can produce the largest dollar savings, but only when every included appliance is needed. Best Buy advertised up to $1,000 in additional package savings during the 2026 sale. Compare:

- The package price for the exact model numbers.
- The individual sale prices for those same models.
- Delivery, installation, parts, and haul-away in both configurations.
- Warranty, return, and damage-reporting terms.
- The cost of an unwanted appliance if the package requires it.
A package is not automatically cheaper. Sometimes buying three discounted appliances separately costs less than accepting a package containing one appliance that is priced above its usual street price.

- Record the exact model number. Similar-looking appliances can have different features, dimensions, warranties, and prices.
- Calculate the dollar discount. Compare the sale price with the stated comparison price, but identify whether that reference is an MSRP, former selling price, or retailer comparison value.
- Check the same model at competing retailers. A 45% discount from an inflated comparison price may be less valuable than a 15% discount from a lower normal price elsewhere.
- Use price history where available. A price-tracking service can help show whether the current price is meaningfully below recent prices; verify its current retailer coverage before relying on it.
- Test package math. Add the standalone prices and all service charges before accepting a bundle.
- Read the exclusions. Membership pricing, clearance products, Marketplace sellers, financing, coupons, rebates, and limited-time offers may not combine.
Calculate the all-in delivered price
Use this formula:
All-in cost = appliance price + delivery + installation + required parts + haul-away + taxes − instant discounts − eligible rebates − usable gift-card value.
“Free delivery” does not necessarily mean free installation. Possible additional costs include a refrigerator water line, dishwasher connection kit, dryer cord, gas connector, stacking kit, anti-tip bracket, microwave mounting hardware, trim kit, venting, electrical work, or extensive labor.

Should you buy during July 4, Labor Day, or Black Friday?
There is no reliable universal rule that July 4 always produces the lowest annual appliance price. The right timing depends on the model, inventory, package requirements, delivery capacity, and the cost of waiting.
- Buy during a July 4-style sale if an appliance has failed, the exact model is meaningfully discounted, and it is available with acceptable delivery and installation terms.
- Consider Labor Day if the existing appliance works and you are watching late-summer promotions, especially when a competing retailer offers better service terms.
- Consider Black Friday and the surrounding November period for broad package promotions, while recognizing that popular models may sell out and delivery schedules may tighten.
- Watch year-end clearance and model-year transitions when a retailer is making room for replacement models or discontinuing a finish.
- Do not wait for a holiday if the refrigerator, washer, range, or other essential appliance has failed and a delay risks food loss, water damage, or an emergency purchase.
For a functioning appliance, wait when the current offer is ordinary, the model is readily available, and you have not compared the final installed cost. For a planned remodel, start measuring and comparing well before the sale because the lowest-priced unit is not useful if it cannot arrive when the project needs it.
Pre-purchase appliance-sale checklist
- Measure width, height, depth, and required clearance.
- Confirm door swing, drawer clearance, and counter-depth requirements.
- Verify gas, electric, water, drain, circuit, and venting requirements.
- Measure every doorway, hallway, stairway, elevator, and turning point.
- Check local stock and the earliest realistic delivery date using your ZIP code.
- Get installation and required-parts pricing in writing.
- Confirm whether haul-away includes the old appliance and any restrictions.
- Ask whether packaging removal is included.
- Save the order confirmation, model number, promotional terms, delivery promise, and installation terms.
- Inspect for dents, scratches, missing accessories, and packaging damage before signing or within the retailer’s required reporting period.
- Photograph exterior and interior condition, model and serial labels, and any damage.
- Read the return, damage-reporting, warranty, financing, and cancellation terms.
