Where will Bayer build the Ohio campus?
The planned site is the New Albany International Business Park in New Albany, Ohio. Bayer announced the investment on October 2, 2026, describing a modular campus that will bring drug-substance and drug-product manufacturing together. When is construction expected to start?
ENR reported a mid-2027 construction target. At the time of its October 2026 reporting, the project was moving into early design with Fluor; detailed design and construction procurement selections were still pending. The reported start depended on design, due diligence, required approvals and permits. Bayerโs announcement did not provide a detailed construction schedule, acreage, utility allocations, or a breakdown of investment between construction and equipment. No general contractor or construction manager had been selected in the cited October 2026 reporting.

What will the New Albany campus make?
The campus is planned to combine two stages of pharmaceutical manufacturing. Bayer says it will initially support medicines for oncology, cardiovascular and renal care. Its stated module milestones distinguish the planned production stages:

How many jobs does Bayer project?
Bayer projects around 600 high-value jobs at the site and roughly 1,500 construction jobs during the build. These are company projections, not current headcount or verified realized employment. Ohio has pointed to the Ohio Life Science Training Center as a separate workforce resource for biomanufacturing operators and technicians. What is announced, and what remains to be delivered?
Bayerโs October 2026 announcement establishes the companyโs investment plan, location, manufacturing concept, job projections and module targets. ENRโs contemporaneous reporting adds the conditional mid-2027 construction target and early-design and procurement status. The distinction matters: investment announcements and target dates describe intent, while permits, procurement, construction progress, hiring and module operations are milestones that still have to occur.
