Apple’s Five New Home Products: What Could Launch Next—and What’s Still Only a Rumor

Apple’s smart-home push looks real, but the five-product lineup is not fixed. Here’s what may launch first, how Siri fits in and when buying now makes more sense.

Apple appears to be preparing a broader smart-home push, but it has not confirmed a five-product hardware lineup. The strongest reports point first to refreshed Apple TV and HomePod mini hardware, followed by a screen-equipped home hub. An Apple camera and video doorbell are plausible longer-term additions, but their timing and specifications remain much less certain.

The common “five products” forecast began with an October 2025 report. Since then, the rumored lineup has shifted, and Apple’s official announcements have focused more clearly on the software foundation: a more capable Siri and expanded Apple Intelligence features.

Product What is rumored Reported timing Confidence
Apple TV 4K refresh A newer chip, possibly A17 Pro, Apple’s N1 wireless chip and a larger Home role Fall 2026 High for an update; lower for specifications
HomePod mini refresh New chip, improved audio, new colors and updated Siri capabilities Fall 2026 High for a refresh; moderate for features
Screen-equipped Home hub A roughly 7-inch display, speaker base or wall-mounted design, widgets and Siri control Late 2026 to early 2027 Moderate to high
Apple security camera A privacy-focused indoor camera with reported identity and occupancy features 2026 or later; unclear Moderate
Apple video doorbell A reported Face ID-style recognition system and smart-lock integration 2026 or later; unclear Moderate for development; low to moderate for timing

The original five-product report was published on October 28, 2025. “In the year ahead” should therefore not be read as a promise that all five devices will arrive together, or even that all five remain on the same schedule.

1. A new Apple TV 4K

A refreshed Apple TV is one of the more credible parts of the roadmap. Reports describe a possible move from the current model’s A15 Bionic to an A17 Pro chip, along with Apple’s N1 wireless chip. A built-in camera has also been suggested, although that detail is less consistently reported.

The most important change may be strategic rather than visual. Apple TV already serves as a Home hub, so a faster model could become a more capable control and automation center for Apple’s smart-home platform. Siri AI support is also rumored, but Apple has not confirmed the chip, camera, price, storage options or launch software.

Current reporting places the Apple TV refresh in a near-term group with the HomePod mini, potentially in fall 2026. That remains a report rather than an Apple announcement. People who need an Apple TV immediately can still use the current Apple TV 4K as a streaming device and Home hub.

2. HomePod mini 2

A second-generation HomePod mini is another relatively strong rumor. Possible changes include a newer chip, improved audio, new colors and an upgraded Ultra Wideband chip. Apple’s N1 wireless chip has also been mentioned.

The bigger purpose may be to distribute Siri throughout the home. A refreshed mini could act less as a dramatic new speaker and more as an inexpensive Siri endpoint that communicates with the Home app, Apple devices and future home hardware.

  • 【Matter: Smooth LAN Control】All Matter-certified devices in your local area network (LAN) will work smoothly even when your home internet goes offline. Matter allows effective communication directly between devices, without the need for a specific 'forwarding' device. For example, a Matter smart switch or sensor can turn on/off a Matter bulb directly without being connected to a cloud service, or other specific action. Once configured, communication and control between Matter devices can be achieved directly on the local network.
  • 【Matter: Future-Proofing】Matter devices will be compatible with future updates and advancements in technology, ensuring that your smart home system remains up-to-date and compatible with new devices and features.

  • 【App & Voice Control】Control your WiFi smart plug from anywhere, anytime via the free Tapo App or just give voice commands to Siri, Amazon Alexa, Google Assistant or Samsung SmartThings. Your favorite smart assistant enables you to have a truly hands-free experience.

None of the rumored specifications—including the chip, driver changes, colors, name or full Siri feature set—is confirmed. Buyers who want a small Siri speaker now should compare the price of the current HomePod mini with the value of waiting for an uncertain refresh.

3. The screen-equipped Apple Home hub

The most consequential rumored product is a HomePod-like device with a display. Reports have variously called it “HomePad” or “HomePod Touch,” while “homeOS” has been used as a possible name for its software. Apple has confirmed none of those names.

The reported design is a mostly square display of about seven inches, potentially built into a speaker base. Another version may be intended for wall mounting or attachment to a flat surface. Reported software features include:

  • Glanceable widgets and smart-home controls
  • Siri-driven device control
  • FaceTime or other video-calling functions
  • Possible access to Music, Calendar, Notes, Photos, Reminders and Safari

An earlier report attached an estimated price of about $350 to the device. That is not an Apple-confirmed price. The product could function as a smart display, a HomePod replacement, a wall-mounted controller, or some combination of the three.

The timing has moved. Earlier expectations were reportedly tied to the delayed rollout of Apple’s more capable Siri. More recent coverage places the hub between late 2026 and early 2027, although other reports describe a roughly seven-inch device as close to ready. The sensible conclusion is that development appears credible, but the launch window is unsettled.

4. An Apple security camera

An Apple-branded indoor camera would represent a more significant expansion than another speaker or streaming box. Reports describe a privacy-focused device that could use facial recognition and infrared sensing to identify household members even when ordinary facial visibility is poor.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

The proposed use case goes beyond recording. A camera might recognize who is present and trigger personalized automations—for example, changing lighting or playing a particular person’s music. Those are reported possibilities, not confirmed features.

Apple’s official 2026 software material does show camera-related functionality in the Home app, including generated descriptions of camera scenes. That confirms work on camera experiences, but it does not confirm that an Apple-branded camera is ready to ship. Apple has not disclosed whether video would be processed locally, in iCloud or through a hybrid system; whether a subscription would be required; or how the product would handle guests, children, false matches and privacy-sensitive rooms.

Compatibility is also unknown. Buyers should not assume an Apple camera will automatically support every existing HomeKit Secure Video or Matter feature until Apple publishes final requirements.

5. An Apple video doorbell

A video doorbell is reportedly being considered as another part of Apple’s home-security strategy. The concept has been described as using a Face ID-style identity system to recognize approved visitors and potentially work with compatible smart locks.

“Face ID doorbell” is shorthand for a reported facial-recognition capability. It does not establish that Apple will use the Face ID brand, the iPhone’s sensor system, or the same biometric-storage model. Apple has not confirmed the hardware, lock compatibility, subscription terms or launch date.

The doorbell appears less imminent than the Apple TV and HomePod mini. Anyone who needs a doorbell now should choose based on currently available reliability, local recording, cloud costs and lock compatibility—not on this rumor.

Why Siri matters more than the product count

The central story is not simply five devices. It is Apple’s attempt to connect Siri, Apple Intelligence, the Home app, cameras, household identity and device automation into one system.

At WWDC 2026, Apple previewed its next-generation Siri and additional Apple Intelligence capabilities. Apple said the new Siri would become available as a beta later in 2026 for supported devices, initially in English, with broader language support to follow. Availability can depend on the device, language, region and software version. Read Apple’s official Siri announcement before assuming that a future Home product will receive every feature at launch.

A more context-aware Siri could make a display useful for household information, let users control devices more naturally and connect actions across apps. It could also make cameras and doorbells more valuable if Apple can safely handle identity and presence. If Siri’s rollout is delayed or limited by region, however, the hardware’s main selling point may be weaker at launch.

What Apple has actually confirmed

Apple has publicly confirmed the software direction, not the rumored hardware list. Its 2026 announcements cover next-generation Siri, Apple Intelligence and new Home app capabilities, including camera-related scene descriptions. They do not announce an Apple camera, video doorbell, HomePad, HomePod Touch or homeOS.

Apple’s existing platform already supports compatible Home and Matter accessories. Apple documentation identifies Apple TV or HomePod as examples of home hubs for certain Home and Matter features. Matter may improve cross-platform compatibility, but Matter support and Home support are not identical: an accessory may still require a manufacturer’s app, bridge, account or subscription for some features. Check the final compatibility list rather than assuming a new Apple device will eliminate third-party requirements.

The “five” count is already becoming unstable

Later reporting has mentioned possible additions or alternatives, including a third-generation full-size HomePod, a compact indoor sensor, a larger display with a robotic arm and higher-end versions of the home hub. These ideas appear less settled than the Apple TV and HomePod mini refreshes.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

That matters because counting five products can make Apple’s expansion appear more defined than it is. Two items are updates to existing categories. The meaningful strategic change would be Apple entering smart displays, cameras and doorbells while building the software layer to connect them.

Should you buy Apple Home hardware now?

Buy now if:

  • You need reliable smart-home control immediately.
  • You need an Apple TV for streaming or an existing Home setup.
  • You want a low-cost Siri speaker and do not need a screen.
  • You are comfortable with the possibility that future products will arrive later or differ from reports.
  • You have a security or accessibility need that cannot wait.

Wait if:

  • You specifically want a screen-equipped Apple Home controller.
  • Your purchase depends mainly on the new Siri AI features.
  • You are about to buy several HomePods or Apple TV units and can tolerate uncertainty.
  • You specifically want an Apple-branded camera or doorbell.

Do not redesign an entire home around the rumor

For a new installation, standards-based Matter products can reduce dependence on one unannounced device. Verify support separately for Apple Home, Matter, Thread, HomeKit Secure Video, bridges and subscriptions. A current third-party camera, lock or sensor may be the better choice if it solves a real need today.

Apple’s late entry also creates trade-offs. Amazon and Google have longer-established smart-display, camera and doorbell ranges, while Apple’s advantages would likely be ecosystem integration, privacy positioning, design consistency and links among Siri, iCloud and existing Apple devices. First-generation Apple hardware could nevertheless be expensive, limited in third-party compatibility or dependent on software features that arrive later.

Product prices and availability are accurate as of the date/time indicated and are subject to change. Any price and availability information displayed on Amazon at the time of purchase will apply.
