That made its core dual-drawer feature set look like a bargain beside a Ninja—but the price comparison is historical, and the Specialbuy may no longer be in stores. Similar headline features do not establish equal cooking performance, build quality or support.
Which Aldi air fryer was the £59.99 deal?
The model was the Ambiano Dual Zone XXL, an Aldi UK Specialbuy reported on 1 October 2024. It had 8 litres of stated capacity split between two 4-litre drawers. The report described it as an in-store offer that could not be bought online, so £59.99 should be read as the price reported for that offer—not a current or permanent Aldi price. What “dual zone” lets you do
Separate drawers let you set up two foods independently and cook them at the same time. For example, you could put chicken in one drawer and vegetables or chips in the other, using different cooking times or temperatures. The benefit is practical separation: flavours and cooking needs are easier to manage than in a single basket.

The available coverage confirms separate settings and simultaneous cooking, but does not establish that this Aldi model has a synchronised-finish feature. Do not assume it can automatically delay one drawer so both foods finish together. Presets are starting points, too; food thickness, quantity and whether it is fresh or frozen can change the cooking time needed.

Is 8 litres enough?
The 2024 report estimated that the appliance could handle a main and side dish for two to three people. That is a practical estimate, not a guaranteed serving count: food shape, recipe and how much room is left for airflow all matter.
- Good use: two modest portions of different foods that benefit from separate settings.
- Less suitable: a large roast, whole chicken or bulky ingredients that need one uninterrupted cooking space.
- Allow room: overcrowded drawers can restrict airflow and lead to less even browning. Chips also need space to circulate and be shaken.
Two 4-litre compartments do not work like one open 8-litre cavity. If you often cook one large item, check the basket’s internal dimensions and layout rather than relying on the total litre figure.
How does it compare with Ninja dual-basket fryers?
“Ninja features” is best understood as a comparison of basic format and functions, not a claim that Aldi duplicates a specific Ninja model. Ninja’s dual-zone range varies by product: its UK information describes separately controlled zones, with some models offering synchronisation, a probe, stacked drawers or a way to combine zones into a larger cooking area. Ninja’s UK dual-zone range overview explains that the brand’s models are not interchangeable feature-for-feature. Some are designed for a flexible large zone; others prioritise vertical counter-space efficiency or add a probe. Those extras matter only if they suit the way you cook.
Does “a third of the price” hold up?
It is a dated comparison, not an evergreen price promise. At £59.99, Aldi’s reported October 2024 price was roughly one-third of the approximately £180 price implied by the comparison with a basic Ninja dual-zone Foodi at the time. The coverage does not clearly identify the exact Ninja model and comparison price, so treat the ratio as an approximate description of that historical comparison—not a current, like-for-like market calculation.
Ninja prices change with model, retailer and promotion. Current US prices cannot establish a UK price ratio: the Ninja US air-fryer range lists examples in US dollars, which are not directly comparable with Aldi’s UK Specialbuy price.

What the similar feature lists do—and don’t—tell you
Both a low-cost dual-drawer appliance and a Ninja dual-basket model can offer separate cooking areas and multiple functions. That overlap is useful if all you need is the basic format. But a longer preset list does not prove better or more versatile cooking: ten programmes are not necessarily ten different heating technologies.

Aldi UK has also shown a 9-litre air fryer at £59.99 for a specific in-store April promotion. The listing does not establish that it is the same 8-litre Dual Zone XXL model; compare the model name and specification label before treating it as equivalent. What to check before buying one
- Confirm the exact model and capacity. Aldi has offered different Ambiano air fryers; check whether the product is the 8-litre model with two 4-litre drawers.
- Check the physical fit. Measure your counter space and, for large foods, compare internal basket dimensions rather than capacity alone.
- Read the manual’s cleaning instructions. The reported dishwasher-safe part is the non-stick frying basket; do not assume the complete drawer assembly or every removable part is dishwasher-safe.
- Check the exact returns and warranty terms. They are not established by the feature report and should not be borrowed from another Aldi product.
- Verify stock before making a special trip. A 2024 Specialbuy report is not confirmation of present-day availability.
Who is better served by Aldi—and who should look at Ninja?
Choose Aldi if
- You find the exact model at a price that suits your budget.
- Two independently set drawers are your main requirement.
- Your usual meals fit comfortably in two 4-litre compartments, and you do not need confirmed synchronised finishing or a flexible single large zone.
Consider a Ninja if
- You need a particular capacity or form factor and want to choose from an established product range.
- Synchronised controls, a temperature probe, a stacked layout or a flexible large cooking zone matters to you; confirm the chosen model has the feature.
- Model-specific manuals, support or parts availability are priorities, and you are prepared to check those terms and pay more if needed.
The original deal was compelling for its price and core dual-drawer format. The sensible comparison is not “Aldi is the same as Ninja,” but whether the Aldi model’s available features, capacity and terms meet your needs better than the current alternatives you can actually buy.
