The ACMER P3 48W is an enclosed diode laser engraver with CoreXY motion, a 400 × 390 mm working area and a manufacturer-rated maximum engraving speed of 800 mm/s. ACMER also advertises cuts up to 30 mm plywood and 45 mm dark acrylic, but those figures are manufacturer claims—not independently verified results. Here’s what the specifications establish, and what they leave unanswered.
What the ACMER P3 48W is
ACMER describes the P3 48W as an enclosed diode laser engraver with CoreXY motion and an integrated camera. Its comparison page lists a 400 × 390 mm working area, dimensions of 577 × 655 × 286 mm and a weight of 19 kg. These are manufacturer specifications, not measurements independently confirmed here. ACMER sells multiple P3 configurations, including 48W/24W and 24W variants, and lists basic, rotary, rotary/conveyor and all-in-one packages. Check the exact configuration before ordering: the P3 name alone does not identify which laser module or accessories are included.
What can the P3 48W cut?
ACMER’s product page claims maximum cutting thicknesses of up to 30 mm for plywood and 45 mm for dark acrylic. Its comparison page separately lists 18 mm plywood and 22 mm black acrylic as one-pass figures for the P3 48W/24W configuration. Maximum-thickness claims and one-pass claims describe different outcomes, so they should not be treated as interchangeable. Neither page provides a standardized independent test protocol for these figures.

Cutting results depend on the specific material and its condition; the published claims do not establish that every plywood sheet or acrylic product will cut the same way. ACMER provides a P3 48W material-settings resource and a linked parameter file. Use material-specific starting settings, then test on scrap rather than assuming a single setting suits every job. No feed rates or power settings are reproduced here because the current parameter file has not been checked directly.
ACMER lists paper, wood, leather, MDF, felt, opaque acrylic, stainless steel, bamboo, fabric, dark glass, ceramic, jade, marble, shale, cement, brick, plated metal and painted metal among the materials its product can work with, with capabilities varying by module. This list is not a blanket safety or suitability guarantee. Do not assume an unidentified plastic or coated material is safe to laser.

Speed and engraving workflow
ACMER specifies a maximum engraving speed of 800 mm/s. That is a manufacturer rating, not a measured production rate. The available product information does not establish how quickly the P3 completes a particular job, or how its throughput compares with another engraver on the same material and design.
The integrated camera is listed as a product feature, but the available specifications do not quantify positioning accuracy. For work where placement matters, confirm alignment on the actual setup before committing valuable material.

Software and operating-system compatibility
ACMER lists ACMER Studio, LightBurn and LaserGRBL as compatible software. The product page also names Windows, macOS, Linux, iOS and Android, but that list does not show that every application supports every platform or device. Check the current ACMER downloads page, manual and the software maker’s requirements for your intended computer and workflow before purchase. ACMER’s download page lists a P3 manual, drivers, firmware and TF card resources; it showed firmware V1.0.8_20240702 in the retrieved listing, which should not be assumed to be the latest version now.
Enclosure, safety claims and air handling
ACMER describes the P3 as FDA Class 1 and says that opening the lid stops the machine. Its product page also states: “After the lid is opened and the machine stops, closing the lid will automatically resume engraving.” These are the manufacturer’s descriptions; the available material does not independently establish the certification record, test conditions or complete risk profile. The classification language is not a reason to treat laser operation as risk-free.

ACMER’s EU product page has featured an AP220 air purifier promotion, and its support center lists accessories such as rotary and air-assist equipment. Those listings establish optional product paths, not the effectiveness of fume capture or a complete ventilation recommendation. Confirm accessory compatibility and consider the intended installation and materials before selecting an air-handling setup.

The manufacturer’s specifications make the P3’s format and headline features clear, but they do not settle how it performs in repeated shop use. The available materials do not provide independent repeatable cut samples, measured throughput, noise readings, smoke-capture testing or long-term reliability results. They also do not support a comparative value verdict against other enclosed diode engravers. A meaningful comparison would require like-for-like tests of working area, module type and power, cut quality and speed, enclosure and documented safety details, positioning, software, included air handling, accessories, footprint, warranty, returns and current total price.
