How is the farmhouse organized?

How did the site shape the design?
The architects retained approximately 40 existing coconut trees and arranged the building around them. The terrain is sloped, but the published measurements conflict: ArchDaily reports an 8-foot gradient, while Architectural Digest India reports around 15 feet. Both descriptions support the same design consequence—volumes are stepped and connected by outdoor movement rather than placed on one level. Because the sources do not reconcile the figures, neither should be treated as a definitive survey measurement.

Courtyards and dense boundary planting preserve views within the property while limiting direct exposure from outside. The landscape is therefore part of the privacy strategy, not simply decoration added around a completed building.
What are the poured-earth walls made of?
Excavated soil from the site was mixed with lime, cement and aggregates, then cast between shuttering to form poured-earth walls. This technique turns locally available soil into a compact wall material while giving the surfaces a visibly layered, earthen character. The reports do not publish wall thickness, structural calculations, embodied-carbon figures or a cost comparison with conventional masonry, so those performance claims cannot be inferred from the material description alone.

What makes the Nodecraft Studio farmhouse different?
