What does a Samsung refrigerator warranty cover?
Samsung’s U.S. overview says most refrigerators include one year of parts and labor. It also lists longer, component-specific coverage: five years of parts and labor for the sealed system, and ten years of parts plus five years of labor for the digital inverter compressor. These are not ten years of full-refrigerator coverage. Samsung notes that terms vary by model, so the warranty supplied with your refrigerator and any purchase-date addenda control. For a specific example of why model and date matter, a posted Samsung U.S. limited-warranty PDF describes one year of parts and labor for the refrigerator, two years of parts and labor for the ice maker, five years of parts and labor for listed sealed-system components, and ten years of parts plus five years of labor for the digital inverter compressor. Those ice-maker terms are from that model-specific document; they should not be assumed to apply to every refrigerator. The document also says Samsung may repair, replace, or refund at its sole option during the applicable period. This is a versioned reference, not a substitute for the warranty for your exact product. How to check your warranty and register the refrigerator
- Locate the product details. Find the model and serial number on the refrigerator’s product label. Keep a dated receipt, invoice, or order confirmation showing the purchase date. Samsung’s registration guidance asks for the model number, serial number, and proof of purchase.
- Register or access the device. Sign in to your Samsung Account and register the refrigerator online, scan its QR code, or use a supported Samsung app flow. If it is connected, SmartThings may show its product information; Samsung says some connected devices are registered automatically. Registration makes warranty status, support requests, and repair history easier to access.
- Check the warranty record. Open My Page > Products, select the refrigerator, and review its product details. - Correct a date that looks wrong. In the product details, follow the instructions beside the warranty information to validate it. Have the dated purchase evidence ready, since the purchase date determines the warranty period. Samsung’s warranty support page describes this status-check process.
How to make a Samsung refrigerator warranty claim
If the symptom may fall within the applicable coverage, start with Samsung’s product page or repair route and choose Request Service or Request a Repair. Samsung also lists chat and phone support at 1-800-SAMSUNG (1-800-726-7864). The exact service options depend on the warranty and location; the posted warranty document specifies authorized service centers, so do not assume every area has authorized in-home service. Have this information ready
- Refrigerator model and serial number
- Purchase date and dated receipt, invoice, or order confirmation
- A concise description of the problem and when it began
- Details of any previous repair or service
Samsung’s posted U.S. limited-warranty document says proof of purchase may be requested. Before arranging independent work or fitting parts, check the applicable warranty: that document excludes some unauthorized repairs and parts. Coverage is for qualifying manufacturing defects under normal household use, subject to the product’s terms and exclusions.

What can be excluded from coverage?
The posted U.S. warranty document lists exclusions that include shipping, delivery, or installation damage; cosmetic damage; unauthorized modification; misuse or accidents; certain damage involving non-authorized equipment, parts, or repairs; power issues; failure to follow instructions; and some installation or household plumbing and electrical corrections. These are terms in that specific document, not a complete universal list for every refrigerator. Check the warranty issued for your model and purchase date. Manufacturer warranty, Samsung Care+, or a retailer plan?
These are separate routes with different administrators. A manufacturer warranty is tied to the refrigerator’s model, purchase date, and applicable terms. Samsung describes Care+ as optional protection that may be added at checkout, with plans described as three, five, or seven years and features that can include an extended service contract, dedicated support, power-surge coverage, and food-loss reimbursement. Check the current Care+ contract for limits, availability, and claim steps. A plan bought from a retailer is handled under that retailer’s terms; Samsung directs customers to the retailer’s website to begin a claim. Is a Samsung warranty extension available?
As described on Samsung’s U.S. home-appliance warranty page on October 8, 2026, a limited promotion covers eligible Samsung appliance purchases, including refrigerators as an eligible category, made July 9 through December 31, 2026 at participating retailers. A valid claim can provide a one-year extension to the original one-year manufacturer warranty; the extension is not automatic. Samsung says the completed redemption form and supporting documents must be submitted online within 30 days after the promotional period ends. Confirm that the exact refrigerator and retailer qualify, and check the current offer terms before relying on the extension. Samsung’s page has a category summary date that differs from its detailed footnote; the detailed footnote gives December 31, 2026 as the purchase-period end date.
