The best Bosch option depends on whether you want a compact standalone grinder or an espresso machine with grind adjustment. Bosch lists the TSM6A011W and TSM6A013B as standalone blade grinders, with up to 75 g capacity; its HomeCafé Series 4 is a separate semi-automatic espresso machine with an integrated grinder Bosch says has 30 settings. Bosch’s published specifications establish features, not a tested winner for grind consistency or cup quality.
Which Bosch coffee grinder fits your brewing method?
Bosch’s standalone TSM6 models are the relevant choice if you want a grinder separate from your brewing equipment. The HomeCafé Series 4 is a different product category: a semi-automatic espresso machine that includes a grinder. Its adjustment range is documented, while Bosch’s cited TSM6 specifications do not document grind-size adjustment.
| Option | Product type | Documented grinding details | Best fit |
|---|---|---|---|
| TSM6A011W / TSM6A013B | Standalone coffee grinder | Blade; 180 W; up to 75 g capacity. Bosch’s catalog does not state adjustable grind settings. | A compact standalone option when the documented capacity and operation suit your routine. |
| HomeCafé Series 4: PFE401B3, PFE403B3, PFE403C3, PFE401C3 | Semi-automatic espresso machine with integrated grinder | Bosch states the integrated grinder has 30 settings; the reviewed page does not identify its mechanism. | Someone seeking an espresso machine with stated grind adjustment, rather than a standalone grinder. |
Bosch’s standalone grinder category lists TSM6A011W and TSM6A013B. Its HomeCafé Series 4 page describes the integrated grinder and its 30 settings. These figures are manufacturer specifications, not independent comparative test results.
What is the difference between TSM6A011W and TSM6A013B?
In Bosch’s 2021 catalog, both models are specified as 180 W blade grinders with capacity for up to 75 g of coffee beans. Both have a stainless-steel grinding bowl, a safety switch, and operation only when the lid is in place. The model suffixes correspond to white (TSM6A011W) and black (TSM6A013B) listings in Bosch’s regional category; the cited specifications do not establish a performance difference.

Bosch Germany also lists beige TSM6A017C and red TSM6A014R. These listings show that model and color availability can vary by market; they do not establish that every variant is sold everywhere. Check the product label and current regional Bosch listing before buying. The specifications above come from Bosch’s 2021 coffee machines and grinders catalog, so confirm current-market details against the applicable product documentation.
Does the Bosch TSM6 have adjustable grind settings?
Bosch’s cited TSM6 catalog entry specifies a blade grinder but does not state adjustable grind settings. That is not evidence that no market or variant could have other instructions; it means adjustment is not established by the cited specifications. If a specific grind range is essential, check the current manual for the exact model before purchase. Do not assume the adjustment instructions for Bosch espresso machines apply to a TSM6 standalone grinder.

For its countertop espresso machines, Bosch says to adjust grind while beans are being ground, with counterclockwise adjustment for finer grinding on light roasts and clockwise for coarser grinding on dark roasts. Those are machine-scoped instructions in Bosch’s grind-adjustment guide, not directions for the TSM6 absent a matching manual.
What Bosch’s specifications can—and cannot—tell you
The available Bosch material supports a features-and-fit comparison, not a ranking by grinding performance. It does not provide independent comparisons of grind consistency, particle distribution, noise, durability, or brewed-cup quality for these models. Bosch’s category tagline about freshly ground beans is marketing language, not a comparative test result. A blade mechanism and a stated setting count are useful distinctions, but neither alone establishes which option will make the better cup for your method.

For buyers considering an espresso workflow, Bosch’s 30-setting claim applies to the integrated grinder in the HomeCafé Series 4 semi-automatic espresso machine—not to either standalone TSM6 model. The HomeCafé is not a like-for-like replacement in a standalone grinder comparison, and its machine price and other features are not established here.

Bosch warns that unsuitable beans can block a grinder and may damage the appliance. For countertop fully automatic coffee or espresso machines, its guidance is to use pure roasted bean mixes suitable for those machines, avoid beans that are coated, caramelized, oily, or sugar-treated, and store beans sealed in a cool place. Bosch also says not to use ground coffee in that appliance context. This advice is specific to the covered countertop machines and should not be treated as universal guidance for every grinder.
