The Cerceaux is a roughly 20-foot trailer-based tiny house by Modern Tiny Living. Its raised U-shaped living area is the standout: it seats up to six, hides storage beneath the seating, and converts into a guest bed. The home also includes a kitchen, compact bathroom, and one loft bedroom. New Atlas reported rooftop solar panels and a battery setup, but no system specifications or performance figures.

What does the “Swiss Army Knife” living room do?

The entrance opens into the raised MTL Social Area, a U-shaped seating space designed for up to six people. Rather than dedicating this footprint to a single use, the arrangement combines everyday seating, concealed storage, and occasional guest sleeping.

  • Seating: The U-shaped sofa accommodates up to six, according to New Atlas’s 2024 feature.
  • Storage: Pull-out drawers and bookshelves are built beneath the seating.
  • Guest bed: The sofa converts into a bed, giving the home a second sleeping option beyond the loft.

That combination is the source of the “Swiss Army Knife” comparison: the room adapts to different needs without adding a separate enclosed room. The source does not specify the converted bed’s dimensions or how many guests it sleeps.

How big is the Cerceaux, and what is its layout?

New Atlas reports that the Cerceaux is about 20 ft (6 m) long and built on a double-axle trailer. Its reported exterior features include engineered-wood finishing, a steel roof, and an exterior storage box. The compact footprint is organized around the social area, kitchen, bathroom, and a single loft-style bedroom.

How is this tiny house powered?

The New Atlas report says the Cerceaux uses roof-based solar panels and a battery setup. It does not give panel wattage, battery capacity, system voltage, or runtime. Those missing specifications mean the report cannot establish how much energy the system produces or stores, which appliances it can run, or how long the house can operate without another power source.

  • 🏞️【Check Fit Before Use】 – Made for DIY lights, electric toys, science experiments, and low-power solar tests; confirm voltage, current, size, and wiring before connecting to your project.

For a construction or off-grid planning comparison, treat “solar-powered” as a description of the reported equipment, not a performance rating. A useful specification sheet would need to identify the panels, battery and inverter, and explain any limits on appliance use and backup charging.

Is the Cerceaux for sale, and what does it cost?

The New Atlas feature did not report a price, and it does not establish whether the Cerceaux is currently available for sale. The article credits Modern Tiny Living, but a reported feature list is not a current listing or a confirmed build specification. Anyone considering a similar project would need current details directly from the builder, including pricing, availability, trailer and load requirements, and the complete electrical design.

What the layout offers—and what remains unspecified

The Cerceaux’s best-documented design choice is its multifunctional raised living area: seating, storage, and a convertible guest bed share one zone. The rest of the reported plan provides the essentials—kitchen, bathroom, and one loft bedroom—in a home about 20 ft (6 m) long.

For evaluating it as a build concept, the reported room arrangement and equipment list are useful starting points, but key project details are absent. The available report does not give construction drawings, appliance dimensions, solar-system capacity, or current pricing and availability. Its feature descriptions should therefore be read as reported details, not independently verified specifications.
