The Secretlab MAGNUS Pro builds cable management into the desk: a concealed power cable runs through a leg to an integrated power column, and a covered tray spans the rear edge. That design can reduce visible wiring, but it does not eliminate every cable run—especially the lead from the desk to a wall outlet or wired network. Secretlab describes the system as a product feature; this article does not verify the first-person claim that the desk “solved my cable management woes.”
How the MAGNUS Pro’s built-in cable management works
Power routed through a desk leg
Secretlab says its integrated power supply column uses a concealed cable inside one desk leg and provides a built-in electrical socket for the desk and connected devices. In practical terms, this moves the desk’s own power connection out of the usual exposed path down a leg. It does not mean the desk has no external power lead: the desk still needs to connect to a wall outlet. A full-length tray with a hinged cover
The rear cable tray runs the full length of the desk and has a hinged cover for access. Secretlab also describes side routing options. The tray gives cables a place to collect and route along the back rather than hang visibly below the desktop. Which cable problems still need attention
The outlet lead and wall route
The concealed leg route tidies the desk’s internal power path, but the external lead still has to reach an outlet. In a Reddit discussion, one MAGNUS owner asked how to hide that cable; a Secretlab account replied that many users route it along the wall and also mentioned the Cable Management Bundle. That is brand advice in response to one user, not a universal installation method. Check the route for slack and clearance through the desk’s entire height range, and avoid pinching the lead under furniture or putting tension on the connection. Reddit discussion

Display, peripheral, and network cables
Connected devices still have their own cables. Secretlab’s MAGNUS monitor arms include cable-routing channels and magnetic guides intended to route display and power leads along the arm and into the tray. Magnetic cable anchors and sheaths attach to the steel chassis to secure and organize runs on the desk. For wired Ethernet, the cable must still reach the router or network point; Secretlab’s Magnetic Ethernet Cable Extender attaches to a desk leg and conceals a coiled, retractable cable, with the stated aim of reducing strain as the desk moves. What to consider before choosing the desk
Workspace, height, and load
Secretlab’s US product page lists the standard MAGNUS Pro at 59.1 × 27.6 inches and the XL at 70.0 × 31.5 inches. Both are listed with a 25.6–49.2-inch height range, three custom height presets, and a 265 lb maximum distributed load. Mounting and accessory fit
The steel surface supports magnetic accessories, but TechRadar notes that it does not accept screw-mounted additions in the way a traditional wood desktop can. If you rely on a clamp, drilled mount, or aftermarket attachment, verify its fit and the desk’s mounting limits before purchase. Secretlab lists monitor arms, a PC mount, desk riser, headphone hanger, cable anchors, and cable sheath among the accessory suite; compatibility can vary by product and model.
Warranty and manufacturer test claims
The US product page lists a five-year warranty; read the terms for the market where you are purchasing, since coverage and service conditions may differ. Secretlab also reports that its hinged tray cover underwent 10,000 open-and-close cycles, its dual motors underwent 20,000 up-and-down cycles, and a functional load test used a distributed 118 kg load. - Measure the desk footprint against the room and the clearance needed behind it to access the tray.
- Identify where the wall outlet and any wired network connection sit relative to the desk’s full movement range.
- List the cables for monitors, computer, and peripherals, then decide whether the tray and any compatible guides can route them without tight bends or strain.
- Check whether the mounting approach you need works with the metal desktop and the particular accessory model.
- Compare the desk’s built-in power route and tray, footprint, height range, rated load, accessory fit, and warranty terms against other desks you are considering.
