Rechargeable under-cabinet lights come in two practical formats: linear bars for a longer, more even run of light and compact puck fixtures for targeted spots. The right choice depends on the area you need to illuminate, the controls you want, and whether you can easily remove or reach the light for charging. The examples below use manufacturer and retailer specifications, not independent side-by-side testing.
Choose a bar or a puck based on the space
Linear light bars
A bar spreads light along a cabinet run, making it a practical format for counters or work areas where illumination across a longer stretch matters. Check the fixture’s length against the available mounting space and consider whether one light will cover the area or several may be needed. Feit lists a 14.5-inch rechargeable light at 320 lumens and 4000K; these are the manufacturer’s specifications for that model, not a category-wide benchmark. See Feit’s 14.5-inch rechargeable light.
Puck fixtures
A puck is a compact option for a focused pool of light, such as inside a cabinet or beneath a smaller section. Feit’s 3-inch rechargeable puck is listed at 100 lumens and 3000K. Its smaller footprint may suit a spot where a longer bar will not fit, though the light covers a more localized area. See Feit’s rechargeable puck fixture.

Understand runtime claims before choosing a light
Continuous-use runtime and motion-activated runtime describe different patterns of use. A light that switches on only when it detects activity may last much longer between charges than one left on continuously, but the actual interval depends on how often the sensor activates it. Feit’s stated 60 days in automatic mode for its puck is not equivalent to six hours of continuous operation. Treat each figure as a claim for that specific model and mode, not a direct comparison with another brand’s runtime.
Brightness settings also matter. Costco’s Energetic listing gives different maximum runtimes at 100%, 50%, and 10% brightness. Lower output can extend stated operation, but it may not provide enough light for a detailed task. Choose a level suited to the counter or cabinet use rather than relying on the longest advertised runtime alone.

Check charging access and mounting before installation
A rechargeable fixture is only convenient if you can charge it without dismantling the installation. Feit describes its puck as removable from a magnetic mounting bracket and USB-chargeable, with an adhesive bracket. LEDVANCE specifies USB-cable charging for its linear model, but the cited datasheet does not establish its mounting or removal method. For other models, the cited information does not state the charge connector or how easily the light detaches.

- Confirm the connector type and whether the required cable is included before buying.
- Check the listed charge time where available; Feit states a full charge within 3 hours for its puck.
- Plan where the light will be removed and recharged, or verify that its charging port remains accessible in place.
- Confirm the mounting method suits the cabinet surface and allows any needed removal.
Use a buyer checklist to narrow the choice
- Match the form to the coverage: choose a bar for a longer run or a puck for a compact, localized area.
- Set a brightness target: compare stated lumens, while remembering that the figures here are product specifications rather than controlled comparisons.
- Choose the light color: fixed-color models such as Feit’s 3000K puck or 4000K bar differ from a model listing multiple selectable color temperatures.
- Decide how it should switch: a motion sensor and automatic mode can suit a space used intermittently; an on/off mode gives direct control. Do not assume every rechargeable light has both.
- Check charging logistics: identify the connector, charge time, removal method and a practical place to recharge.
- Verify current product details: specifications and availability can change, and the cited information does not establish current prices.
