Choosing plants and materials for your conditions
Real or faux pumpkins?
Choose real pumpkins for natural variation and faux pumpkins when you value reusability and have somewhere to store them. Both can work in an outdoor display; the right choice depends on the appearance you want and how you plan to handle the decor after the season.
Fresh plants or dried accents?

Plant advice is regional. UF/IFAS Extension Jackson County’s guidance is specific to Jackson County, Florida: it recommends selecting mums that have not fully bloomed and covering them when night temperatures fall below 40°F. That temperature recommendation is not a universal frost rule; consult guidance for your area and the conditions at your home.
