Completion is expected in 2028, but that remains a target, not a confirmed finish date. The planned 1,007-metre tower would exceed the Burj Khalifa if completed to its design height.
What is Jeddah Tower?
Jeddah Tower, in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, is also referred to in corporate reporting as Jeddah Economic Company Tower, or JEC Tower. It was previously known as Kingdom Tower. Jeddah Economic Company is the project company; Kingdom Holding Company reports the project as an associate investment. The tower was designed by Adrian Smith + Gordon Gill Architecture, with structural and wind-engineering work described by Thornton Tomasetti and engineering support attributed to Dar Al-Handasah.
The project resumed after a lengthy interruption. In a 2024 announcement about an agreement for Saudi Binladin Group to complete construction work, Kingdom Holding said 63 of the planned 157 floors were complete at that time. Prince Al-Waleed bin Talal’s short social-media message, reported by New Atlas, was “We’re back”—a statement of resumption, not an assurance about the schedule.
How far along is construction?
The reported milestones show substantial progress, but they come from different dates and sources and should not be treated as measurements taken on the same day.

The latest figure here is the one reported by AS; it is a secondary report, while the earlier level-91 milestone comes from company financial reporting. Floor and level counts are not necessarily interchangeable measures, and the 157-floor figure is a planned count reported in 2024, not a confirmed as-built total.
When will Jeddah Tower be completed?
Completion is currently expected in 2028. Kingdom Holding’s financial reporting continued to target that year, and the September 2026 AS report cited an August 2028 opening expectation. Both are forward-looking dates: construction progress does not make either a guaranteed completion or public-opening date.

How tall will Jeddah Tower be?
New Atlas reported a planned height of 1,007 metres (3,303 feet) and 157 floors in 2024. Those are design figures, not completed measurements. At the planned height, the tower would surpass the 828-metre Burj Khalifa. It can claim a world’s-tallest-building record only after completion and subject to the height criteria used by the relevant ranking body.
How is the tower designed for its height?
The reported design uses a tapering, three-sided plan. Its form is intended to help address wind forces and sun exposure at extreme height. A tall, slender structure must contend with wind as well as the weight of its own materials; the shape is part of the design response, not a guarantee that those challenges disappear.

The foundation combines a thick concrete raft with deep bored piles. New Atlas reports 270 piles reaching depths of up to 105 metres; Thornton Tomasetti describes a 5-metre-thick raft supported by the piles. These are project-specific reported design details, not a general specification for skyscrapers.

Project coverage describes an observation point, hotel, offices, residences and serviced apartments as planned uses. These are proposed facilities, not places currently open to visitors or occupants. The reported mix would make the tower a mixed-use development rather than a building devoted solely to offices or housing.
