There is no single gas grill that is best for every household. The 2025 ratings below favor three different models, but the right choice depends on your fuel hookup, cooking space, budget and desired features. Consumer Reports’ listed prices and scores are from its 2025 guide—not live offers or current rankings—and similarly named grills can differ by model year, fuel type and cooking-area measurement.
What the 2025 ratings say
Consumer Reports’ 2025 gas-grill guide ranked the Weber Genesis Smart Grill EPX-335 highest among the three models covered here. Its overall score combines performance tests with survey data for predicted reliability and owner satisfaction, so it is not a cooking-performance score alone. The guide says predicted reliability estimates the likelihood of problems or breakage during the first five years and refers to its Fall Quarterly surveys from 2021, 2022 and 2023.

How the grills compare in a cooking test
Epicurious tested a 2022 Weber Genesis E-325s against a Napoleon Rogue XT 425 SIB. In that outlet’s side-by-side cooks, the grills cooked or seared meat in nearly the same time. The reviewer preferred the Genesis in that test, citing a sturdier feel and no high-wind issues. That is one reviewer’s experience under that test’s conditions, not a guarantee that the Genesis will outperform every Rogue or suit every outdoor space.

Epicurious described its tested E-325s as having 787 sq. in. of total cooking area, including 513 sq. in. of porcelain-coated cast-iron grates plus an expandable warming rack. Consumer Reports’ 2025 guide lists 485 sq. in. for the E-325s. Those figures should not be treated as a like-for-like capacity comparison: they come from different sources, and the available information does not establish that the exact SKU or area definition is the same.
Choose by fuel, space and features—not the family name
Check the fuel connection first
Weber’s current US Genesis lineup includes both liquid-propane and natural-gas products. A propane grill and a natural-gas grill are not interchangeable choices: confirm the exact fuel configuration against your connection and the product listing before comparing prices. Do not assume that a current Genesis model is the same grill as a 2025-rated E-325s simply because the names are similar.

Measure the cooking area and footprint
Compare the main grate area with the main grate area, and total area with total area. A total that includes a warming rack can look much larger than the primary grilling surface. Check the exact model’s dimensions as well as the space needed around it; the 48 × 61 × 27 in. dimensions reported for the E-325s in Consumer Reports’ 2025 table should not be applied to another Genesis version without confirming its listing.
Match features to how you cook
Decide whether you will use a side burner, sear burner, rotisserie or griddle insert before paying for a model or accessory built around one. Features vary across a product family, and accessory fit can be generation- and model-specific. Weber Canada says all 2024 Genesis models are compatible with WEBER CRAFTED when equipped with a frame kit if not already equipped, and that rotisserie units made for Genesis II fit 2024 Genesis grills. Those statements apply to the specified model year and market; they do not establish compatibility for every Genesis generation.

What current product listings can—and cannot—tell you
Manufacturer listings are useful for confirming current model specifications, fuel type, warranty terms and compatible accessories, but they do not update the historical 2025 ratings. Weber’s current US Genesis lineup includes products such as Genesis E-325W Titanium Edition variants; these should not be silently substituted for the E-325s model and SKU in Consumer Reports’ table. Weber states that its Genesis line has a 12-year limited warranty; check the terms for the exact SKU and market.
Napoleon’s current Rogue 525 listing is for model R525PSS-2, a propane grill with four main burners, 48,000 BTU, 525 sq. in. of main cooking area and 711 sq. in. total cooking area. The product page states a 15-year warranty and lists a compatible cover, Rogue rotisserie kit, griddle insert and burner-brush maintenance kit. These are Rogue 525 details, not specifications for the Rogue XT 425 SIB in the older comparison.

A practical shortlist before you buy
- Confirm your hookup: identify whether you need liquid propane or natural gas, then verify that the exact grill SKU matches.
- Set a usable-space limit: measure the cooking footprint and compare exact-model dimensions, not just the product-family name.
- Compare capacity consistently: distinguish main cooking area from total area, and check whether a warming rack is included in the stated total.
- Choose features you will use: verify burner and accessory compatibility for that model and generation.
- Check the live listing: confirm stock, current price, warranty terms and included components with the manufacturer or retailer. Consumer Reports’ 2025 prices are historical guide figures, not current offers.
