Choose a handful of simple, repeatable details—such as printed signs, framed table numbers, bud vases, or flameless candles—instead of decorating every surface. These ideas are designed for straightforward setup, but venue rules, safety, and setup time still matter.
Welcome signs and paper details
Printed pieces are among the easiest decorations to prepare in advance. Keep the design consistent—matching frames or one typeface can make a few signs feel intentional.

Check safety and venue rules before setup
Ask the venue for its written rules before buying or preparing open-flame candles, string lights, adhesives, hanging decorations, or anything that could affect surfaces, exits, or electrical circuits. The venue’s approval and applicable local requirements determine what is allowed at your event.
If open flames are permitted, follow basic candle precautions. NFPA says, “Keep candles at least 1 foot (30 centimeters) away from anything that can burn,” and recommends sturdy holders and extinguishing candles when leaving the room or going to bed (NFPA candle safety). The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission advises keeping candles away from flammable items, never leaving burning candles unattended, and using flameless candles whenever possible (CPSC candle safety). Follow any stricter venue rule, including a complete ban on open flames.
