Harbor Freight names 13 Honda, Briggs & Stratton, Kohler, Yamaha and Kawasaki engines as replacement candidates for its PREDATOR 6.5 HP (212cc) horizontal-shaft engine, item 69730. That is a manufacturer-published candidate list—not a promise that the Predator will bolt straight into every machine using one of those engines. Check the shaft and mounting details against your equipment before buying.

The models below appear on Harbor Freight’s item 69730 product listing. Displacement figures are included to distinguish model variants; matching displacement alone does not establish interchangeability.

Harbor Freight cautions that replacement suitability varies with the individual engine’s shaft and mounting pattern, including shape, dimensions, thread size and orientation. The Predator Engines brand page states: “The ability to use a Predator® engine as a replacement may vary based on each engine’s shaft and mounting pattern shape, dimensions, thread size, and orientation.” A model’s presence in the list therefore identifies a candidate, not confirmed fit for a specific mower, pump or construction machine.

Predator 212 dimensions to compare
Harbor Freight lists the 69730 engine at 212cc and 6.5 horsepower, with a 3/16-inch (4.76 mm) keyway, 2.43-inch (61.7 mm) shaft length, counterclockwise rotation and a mounting pattern 162 mm long by 75.5–80.5 mm wide (6.40 by 2.95–3.17 inches). These figures are approximate and subject to change, according to the product listing. Confirm the current specification and the installed engine’s measurements before committing to a swap.
- Output shaft: Compare shaft diameter and usable length, plus keyway size and position.
- Rotation: Confirm that the replacement turns in the direction required by the driven equipment. The Predator manual identifies rotation as counterclockwise when viewed from the PTO, or output-shaft side. See the 69730 owner’s manual.
- Mounting: Measure hole spacing and check thread size, mounting surface and shaft orientation. A similar bolt pattern by itself may not settle whether the shafts align correctly.
- Equipment interfaces: Check throttle and choke linkage, controls, exhaust clearance, guards and the machine’s required speed and power. Harbor Freight’s published list does not verify these machine-specific details across all 13 engine families.
Applications named for the Predator 212
Harbor Freight lists pressure washers, cement mixers, compressors, mowers, log splitters, vacuums, tillers, water pumps, chipper/shredders, generators and blowers as application categories for the engine. These categories indicate intended uses; they do not confirm that the engine fits every make and model within them. For installation and safe operation, use the equipment maker’s instructions alongside the Predator manual.
