In one popular modern chart, each of the 12 Western zodiac signs is paired with a flower—from Aries and honeysuckle to Pisces and water lily. These are symbolic associations, not a universal botanical standard: flower guides differ, and a sign flower is not the same as a birth-month flower.
What is my zodiac flower?
This guide follows the chart shared by the National Garden Bureau and Homes & Gardens. The pairings offer a theme for a bouquet or garden choice, not a scientific claim about personality.

| Zodiac sign | Flower | Why it fits symbolically |
|---|---|---|
| Aries | Honeysuckle | Early blooms and vigorous growth suggest beginnings and energy. |
| Taurus | Poppy | Vivid color and beauty make it a sensory, approachable choice. |
| Gemini | Lavender | Its fragrance and many uses lend it a versatile character. |
| Cancer | White rose | Often associated with love, peace, and gentleness. |
| Leo | Sunflower | Its brightness and warmth make a bold, visible statement. |
| Virgo | Buttercup | Its small, defined form suits an association with order; some guides also pair Virgo with chrysanthemum. |
| Libra | Rose | Beauty, balance, and romance are common themes. |
| Scorpio | Geranium | Rich color and layered character give it a more dramatic association. |
| Sagittarius | Carnation | Resilience and expressive color inform the pairing. |
| Capricorn | Pansy | Its cool-weather toughness suggests persistence. |
| Aquarius | Orchid | Its distinctive form is linked with individuality. |
| Pisces | Water lily | Water associations and a calm appearance evoke imagination and tranquility. |
What flower goes with my zodiac sign?
Use the chart as a starting point rather than a rule. Some guides offer alternatives: the National Garden Bureau, for example, also lists thistle for Aries and chrysanthemum for Virgo. Other charts diverge more widely. One florist guide pairs Aquarius with daffodil and primrose, Pisces with freesia and cineraria, Aries with tulip and calceolaria, and Taurus with iris and hydrangea (Nancy’s Floral). Charls Flowers also presents a different set of sign pairings.
There is no single chart that makes one pairing objectively correct. If you are choosing a gift, the recipient’s favorite flower and color can matter more than matching a guide. You can use the associated flower, borrow its colors, or choose a mixed arrangement when the flower is unavailable or out of season.

Are zodiac flowers the same as birth flowers?
No. Zodiac flowers are associated with astrological signs, while birth flowers are associated with calendar months. Because a zodiac sign can span parts of two months, someone’s sign flower and birth-month flower may be different. Interflora treats them as separate gifting traditions.
Can you grow your zodiac flower?
Some sign flowers can inspire a garden as well as a bouquet, but suitability depends on the particular plant and local conditions. Poppy is one example: Homes & Gardens connects it with Taurus and discusses sowing poppy seeds. Rachel Bull, Head of Gardens at Homes & Gardens, says, “I’m pleased to learn poppy is my zodiac flower because there are so many types of poppies I adore.” Before planting, check the species, local climate, and growing requirements; that a poppy is a sign flower does not mean every variety suits every garden.

Choosing a zodiac flower as a gift
A sign flower can make a bouquet feel personal even if the recipient does not follow astrology. Let the chart suggest a theme, then take season, local availability, and the recipient’s preferences into account. If the exact flower is hard to find, a florist may be able to build an arrangement around its color or general feel, but availability and delivery options depend on location and season.
