Xiaomi’s Mijia Smart Aroma Diffuser Set is not a new August 2026 launch. The China-market product launched on October 19, 2024, at a reported price of 149 yuan through JD.com. Xiaomi later listed a closely related regional product as the Xiaomi Smart Scent Diffuser, model MJXFJ03XW.
Its headline feature is a claimed 50-day battery life—but only at the lowest diffusion setting with the ambient light switched off. The device also offers app control, motion-triggered fragrance, colour lighting and possible Xiaomi ecosystem integration, while introducing important questions about regional availability, refill compatibility and HyperOS branding.

What launched in China?
The original product was called the Mijia Smart Aroma Diffuser Set. According to launch coverage, Xiaomi introduced it in China on October 19, 2024, with a reported launch price of 149 yuan and initial sales through JD.com.

How is the global Xiaomi Smart Scent Diffuser different?
Xiaomi subsequently listed a closely related product internationally as the Xiaomi Smart Scent Diffuser, model MJXFJ03XW. Official regional specifications list it at 74 × 74 × 75 mm and 154 g—considerably shorter and lighter than the reported China set.
The regional package contains the diffuser, charging cable, user manual and warranty notice. Fragrance liquid is not included, so buyers should not assume that the 135 ml China bundle is part of the international package. Check the exact model, package contents and market before ordering. Xiaomi’s global product page and its Singapore specifications page identify the regional product and its contents.
Diffusion settings and app control
The diffuser has three basic diffusion levels. Xiaomi gives these default spray patterns:

Through the Xiaomi Home/Mi Home app, users can adjust both spray duration and interval. Xiaomi describes 15 combinations: three interval settings multiplied by five spray-duration options. That means 15 combinations of timing and duration, not 15 completely independent power levels.
The app also manages fragrance intensity, diffusion schedules, scene modes, ambient-light colour and brightness, and human-body sensing. Xiaomi’s support documentation explains the app, radar and scene functions.

What does motion sensing do?
The diffuser uses microwave motion sensing to detect a person and release a stronger fragrance burst. Xiaomi lists a detection range of up to approximately 2 metres and a front-facing detection angle of about 120 degrees. The motion-triggered burst lasts roughly three seconds.
Automatic person-detection spraying is disabled by default and must be enabled in the app. Placement matters: corners, furniture, walls and the diffuser’s orientation can reduce the useful detection area. This is a convenience feature, not security-grade human detection.
Ambient lighting and the real battery life
The device includes mood lighting with approximately 16 million colours and app-controlled brightness. That feature substantially changes the runtime.
- Up to approximately 50 days: Xiaomi’s manufacturer-tested result at diffusion level 1 with ambient lighting off.
- Approximately 10 hours: with lighting at 50% brightness.
- Approximately 6 hours: with lighting at 100% brightness.
In other words, the diffuser is not a 50-day battery-powered mood lamp. Using bright lighting continuously requires frequent charging and may make the product function more like a rechargeable light with fragrance than a long-life scent device.
The specifications list a rechargeable lithium-ion battery, USB-C charging, a 5 V / 0.5 A charging input, a rated voltage of 3.7 V and Bluetooth Low Energy connectivity. The 50-day figure is a manufacturer test claim, not an independent real-world measurement. Xiaomi’s regional specifications provide the battery conditions and figures.

What does HyperOS integration mean?
China launch coverage reported support for HyperOS Connect, allowing the diffuser to interact with compatible Xiaomi devices and scenarios such as Xiaomi AI speaker control. However, Xiaomi’s currently accessible global and regional pages emphasise Xiaomi Home/Mi Home, Bluetooth Low Energy, sensing radar, scenes and IoT functions without consistently repeating the HyperOS Connect wording.

The safest interpretation is that HyperOS refers to Xiaomi ecosystem connectivity—not that the diffuser itself runs HyperOS as a conventional operating system. Voice control and automation may depend on the product version, firmware, compatible Xiaomi hardware, account region and supported app configuration. The HyperOS Connect claim comes from secondary coverage of the China launch.
Noise, refills and ownership costs
Xiaomi rates average operating sound at no more than approximately 30 dB. That is a manufacturer figure, not an independent bedroom noise test. Short spray or atomisation sounds may be more noticeable in a quiet room, and the rating may not represent every mode or motion-triggered burst.
The regional specifications identify the standard Xiaomi Smart Scent Diffuser Refill as the supported refill. Xiaomi warns that other brands’ fragrances may produce different results or cause malfunctions. Essential oils intended for water-based ultrasonic diffusers should not automatically be assumed safe here.
This makes refill availability a central buying consideration. The 149-yuan China launch price was historical and does not represent a current international MSRP. Outside the China bundle, fragrance is sold separately, adding a recurring cost and creating possible regional supply issues.

Safety and placement guidance
Xiaomi’s guidance says to:
- Keep the area above the diffuser unobstructed to reduce the chance of liquid dripping back onto the device.
- Keep it away from direct sunlight and heat sources.
- Do not rinse, submerge, tilt or invert the device.
- Do not use it inside a car.
- Keep fragrance liquid away from children.
- Avoid direct inhalation near the nozzle.
- Use caution if you are sensitive to fragrances.
- Use only scents formulated for the diffuser and use the product only as an air freshener.
If fragrance stops spraying, check the refill installation, liquid level, device orientation, nozzle area and fragrance compatibility. Do not insert a sharp object into the atomisation outlet, as this can damage the component.
Availability and regional buying risks
The evidence establishes a historical China launch and official listings in some regional Xiaomi markets. It does not establish a current official US launch, US price, US warranty or US refill channel for this exact product.
Import buyers should verify the model number, Xiaomi Home app-region support, included fragrance, refill availability, warranty, returns and landed cost. A listing on an Asian marketplace may be genuine without providing the same software, support or consumables available in the buyer’s country. A Hong Kong Xiaomi Flagship Store listing has shown a price signal of HK$149, but that is a Hong Kong price—not a universal MSRP or US price. See the regional marketplace listing.
Who should consider it?
The Xiaomi Smart Scent Diffuser makes the most sense for Xiaomi Home users who want a rechargeable scent device with scheduling, adjustable diffusion, motion-triggered bursts and ambient lighting. Its compact footprint suits a bedroom, entryway, desk or living room.
It is a poorer fit for buyers who want generic essential oils, bright lighting for long periods, a water reservoir, guaranteed US support, or a device with no proprietary-refill dependency.

Without independent testing, it is not possible to claim that Xiaomi has better scent coverage, refill duration, noise performance or battery life than these alternatives.
