The Xiaomi Robot Vacuum 5 Pro is a premium robot vacuum-and-mop with a self-emptying, mop-washing dock, camera-assisted obstacle recognition, and up to 20,000Pa of claimed fan-blower air pressure. Its dock washes mop pads with water heated to up to 80°C and dries them with hot air. However, the headline figures are Xiaomi or laboratory claims rather than standardized independent performance scores, and buyers must check regional availability, voltage, warranty coverage, and app support before purchasing.
What the Xiaomi Robot Vacuum 5 Pro does
The Robot Vacuum 5 Pro is designed to automate most routine floor care. Its dock collects dust, washes the mop pads, dries them with hot air, stores clean and dirty water, and helps clean the mop-washing area. The robot can vacuum, mop, return to the dock for maintenance, and resume scheduled cleaning through the Xiaomi Home app.

The “Pro” designation is not only about suction. The main upgrades are a triple-camera recognition system, dirt-aware cleaning behaviors, retractable dToF/LiDAR radar, extendable edge-cleaning mechanisms, and a more capable dock.
Xiaomi also supports room and zone cleaning, schedules, virtual walls, no-go zones, and compatible Alexa or Google Assistant voice controls. AI cleaning explained
The robot’s AI features refer to specific recognition and routing functions—not a general-purpose system that understands every household situation.
- Obstacle recognition: Xiaomi claims recognition of about 200 common obstacles across eight categories.
- Small-object detection: Xiaomi cites testing involving objects such as footwear, fabric, and earphone cables as small as 3mm.
- Dirt recognition: Xiaomi claims recognition of up to 47 types of liquid, solid, and mixed dirt.
- Adaptive cleaning: The robot may lift its mop pads and vacuum solid waste, stop suction and mop around liquid, or bypass soup- or porridge-like messes to avoid spreading them.
These are test-condition capability claims, not a guarantee of perfect recognition. Lighting, clutter, object position, reflective surfaces, and the appearance of the spill can affect camera-based detection. Users should still remove fresh pet waste, large spills, cables, and hazardous debris manually.
Camera and privacy considerations
The robot includes a front HD camera and optional video-manager and real-scene photo functions. Xiaomi says these features are disabled by default. Anyone considering the 5 Pro should review Xiaomi Home permissions and leave camera-related features disabled if remote viewing is unnecessary. Navigation sensors and an active camera are not the same thing, so privacy-sensitive buyers should treat this as an important purchasing factor.

Xiaomi says the vacuum’s fan blower produces up to 20,000Pa of air pressure. Its stated test involves a fully charged robot and a vacuum gauge covering 0–20,000Pa. Xiaomi also notes that results vary with the testing environment.
That number should not be treated as a universal ranking of carpet cleaning or pet-hair pickup. Robot-vacuum suction figures are not standardized enough for direct brand-to-brand comparisons. Brush design, airflow, floorhead sealing, cleaning passes, navigation, and selected power mode also determine how much dirt reaches the dustbin.
Xiaomi separately reports more than 99% hair-cleaning efficiency after two passes in an internal standard test using dry hair. That is not equivalent to a one-pass independent household test. The practical case for the 5 Pro is strongest for owners wanting frequent automated maintenance cleaning, especially on hard floors and around pet hair, rather than buyers choosing solely by the largest Pa number.
80°C mop washing happens in the dock
The dock heats mop-washing water to up to 80°C while the mop pads are scrubbed and spun. Floating scraper arms and a detachable washboard area are intended to help remove residue from the washing section.

This does not mean the robot sprays 80°C water across the floor. The heat is applied during dock-based mop-pad washing. It may help loosen stubborn stains from the pads and improve hygiene, but it does not make the dock maintenance-free.
Xiaomi claims approximately two-hour hot-air drying, with more than 99% drying after two hours in testing at 25°C and 55% relative humidity. Actual drying varies with room temperature, humidity, pad saturation, ventilation, cleaning frequency, and dock cleanliness. The sensible expectation is reduced damp-pad odor, not the elimination of manual cleaning.
Edge cleaning, carpets, and low furniture
The 5 Pro has both an extendable side brush and an extendable mop pad. Xiaomi reports that these can reach within 0mm of certain edges or corners under specified settings and test conditions. That should not be interpreted as a guarantee against gaps along every baseboard, wall, or furniture shape.
A retractable dToF/LiDAR radar allows the robot to lower its sensor assembly for some low-clearance areas. Xiaomi says it can access spaces higher than approximately 9.5cm. The robot itself is listed at approximately 350mm in diameter and 88mm high, but furniture geometry and the radar’s operating position still matter. Measure the actual clearance before buying.

Runtime and independent testing
Xiaomi advertises up to 140 minutes in vacuuming-and-mopping mode on Standard power when fully charged. An independent Notebookcheck review reported approximately 90 minutes of runtime in its testing and around four hours for a full recharge. This difference shows why the 140-minute figure should be treated as an upper manufacturer result, not a guaranteed household runtime.

Independent reviews such as Tech Advisor’s review can provide useful observations about cleaning, mapping, self-washing, and drying, but results depend on the home, settings, floor types, and test method. Neither a headline specification nor one review replaces checking how the robot fits a particular home.

The dock reduces daily work but does not remove routine maintenance. Owners should expect to:
- Refill the clean-water tank and empty the dirty-water tank.
- Clean the washboard, dock area, and dirty-water tank.
- Clean the clean-water tank and its filter.
- Replace the disposable dust bag.
- Inspect the anti-tangle brush and side brush.
- Clean filters, sensors, and charging contacts.
- Replace mop pads, filters, and brushes as they wear.
Manual-derived guidance suggests cleaning the dirty-water tank after use, cleaning the tanks roughly every two weeks, cleaning the washboard every one to two weeks, replacing brushes every three to six months, and replacing filters and mop pads approximately every six to twelve months. Household conditions can require more frequent care. The official FAQ and the available manual document should take priority for the exact regional model.
The advertised 75-day dust-bag interval comes from a test involving a 120m² home, three people, and one pet with daily cleaning and dust collection. Multiple pets, heavy shedding, children, a larger home, or more frequent cleaning can fill the bag sooner.

Regional availability and voltage
The product is not clearly presented as a normal US retail model in the reviewed sources. Xiaomi’s global specification lists a 220–240V dock input. US buyers should not assume that an imported unit is compatible with a 120V home. Confirm the regional model, plug, voltage, warranty, replacement parts, return policy, and Xiaomi Home region before purchasing. Xiaomi’s US support pages are a useful starting point, but do not by themselves establish US retail availability for this model.
No automatic water supply or drainage
The official FAQ says the Robot Vacuum 5 Pro does not support automatic water-supply and drainage installation. Its removable 4-litre tanks avoid plumbing work but require manual refilling and emptying.
Cleaning solution is unclear
The reviewed sources do not establish a universally supported detergent-dosing system. Notebookcheck noted that the dock lacks a dedicated cleaning-solution tank and mops with water only. Follow the manual for the exact regional version and do not add foaming, corrosive, or unapproved floor chemicals.

Dock placement
Xiaomi recommends a hard, level surface against a wall. The FAQ gives a minimum installation envelope of more than 0.82m high, 1.47m long, and 0.44m wide. Also allow room for the ramp, tank removal, dust-bag access, and opening the dock cover. The dock’s hot-water function is rated at 1,600W, so use the supplied cord and a suitable outlet for the regional model.
Useful recovery steps
If the robot loses Wi-Fi, hold the On/Off and recharge buttons together for seven seconds until it announces that it is waiting to configure the network. For factory restoration, hold the reset button for three seconds; Xiaomi’s FAQ also describes a ten-second hold for forced shutdown and restoration. For technical problems, open Profile → Help & Feedback in Xiaomi Home, select the model, and submit logs.
Who should consider the Robot Vacuum 5 Pro?
It is most compelling for households with mostly hard floors, regular pet hair, clutter where obstacle recognition may help, and buyers who want automated mop washing and drying without installing plumbing. Existing Xiaomi Home users may also value the app integration.
Be cautious if you need a US-authorized product with straightforward warranty service, a permanently plumbed dock, detergent dosing, strong privacy controls without a camera, or reliable handling of thick and delicate rugs. It is also a poor choice for anyone expecting zero maintenance or safe automated cleanup of fresh pet accidents and major wet spills.
Verdict
The Xiaomi Robot Vacuum 5 Pro is feature-rich and technically ambitious. Its combination of camera-assisted recognition, retractable sensing, extendable edge cleaning, hot-water mop washing, and hot-air drying makes it more than a basic autonomous vacuum.
But 20,000Pa, 80°C washing, 140-minute runtime, 75-day dust capacity, and the AI recognition figures are not universal guarantees. Treat them as Xiaomi’s stated test results, then verify the regional voltage, availability, warranty, dock space, privacy settings, and ongoing maintenance before buying.
