Xiaomi’s Mijia Rotary Tool Kit is a compact, rechargeable rotary tool for fine engraving, grinding, polishing and drilling. Xiaomi lists a 2 cm-diameter anodised-aluminium body, a brushless motor with a 15,000–22,000 rpm speed range, an 800 mAh battery and 16 included bits with 2.35 mm shanks. Its small format is aimed at detail work rather than replacing larger construction tools.
What the Mijia electric grinding pen is designed to do
Xiaomi markets the tool for detail work on small objects and materials. Its examples include carving wood; sanding wood, metal and models; drilling holes in pendants; and polishing jade, silver and other handheld items. The slim, pen-like form has a stated 2 cm diameter and an anodised aluminium-alloy body. Xiaomi specifies a brushless coreless motor, a power button and a speed-adjustment knob. The listed weight is approximately 310 g for the portable case/product presentation; Xiaomi’s page does not establish that the bare tool alone weighs 310 g.

Xiaomi gives a speed range of 15,000–22,000 rpm. The upper figure is the motor’s stated maximum, not an independent measurement of cutting or polishing performance. The speed-adjustment knob lets the user select a setting within the stated range.

The tool has an 800 mAh lithium battery. Xiaomi claims up to 60 minutes of continuous operation after a full charge, based on controlled conditions. It notes that actual runtime varies with factors including ambient temperature and workload, so demanding tasks may not match that figure. The product also supports plugged-in operation; it does not charge while running. Charging starts after the tool stops. Xiaomi recommends a 5 V / 3 A input when the low-battery indicator flashes red. Included bits and replacement compatibility
The kit includes 16 bits with 2.35 mm shanks. Xiaomi’s listed types include a wool polishing wheel, twist drill, diamond grinding bits, abrasive grinding bits, rubber grinding heads and wool grinding heads. The global product page identifies bits as consumables, so replacements will eventually be needed.

Do not assume that every bit sold for a rotary tool will fit. Before fitting a replacement, check that its shank matches the chuck and that its rated speed is at least the tool’s maximum speed of 22,000 rpm. Also choose an accessory intended for the material and task. Inspect each accessory before use, as directed by the manual.

Safety for detail grinding, drilling and polishing
Small rotary tools can still throw debris, generate dust and damage a workpiece quickly. Xiaomi’s manual advises using appropriate eye or face protection and, depending on the job, dust and hearing protection, gloves and protective clothing. Secure small workpieces where appropriate and keep bystanders clear. Do not operate near flammable materials or use liquid coolants. Follow the accessory maker’s instructions as well as the tool manual.

Take particular care with valuable objects: Xiaomi cautions that mistakes can cause irreversible damage and recommends professional supervision for this work. The same caution applies to any delicate or irreplaceable item, regardless of the tool’s compact size.

Xiaomi’s product pages state that packaging with a multilingual information label would be added starting 15 July 2026, with either packaging version potentially shipped during the transition.
