Xeter Spark is a modular lighting system built around one removable LED Core. The Core attaches magnetically to a flashlight handle, headlamp mount, bicycle mount, or diffuser for lantern use. It is therefore better understood as one light engine with four mounting and power configurations—not four independent lights that can all operate at once.
The system was promoted through a 2022 crowdfunding campaign. Although the campaign was reported as funded, current retail availability, replacement-part support, and app support could not be verified as of 2026.

What is Xeter Spark?
Xeter Spark was designed as a compact outdoor-lighting system for camping, cycling, hiking, emergency kits, and hands-on work. Its central component is a removable LED module called the Core. Neodymium magnets attach the Core to four interchangeable accessories:

- a translucent matte diffuser for lantern use.
Contemporary product coverage describes the Core as using a single Cree LED, with adjustable brightness and a focusable beam. The modular design can reduce the number of separate light engines a user carries, but it also creates dependencies: if the Core fails, all four functions are affected; if a particular mount is lost, that use case disappears.

The phrase “four lights in one” should not be taken literally. Xeter Spark is not four complete, simultaneously usable lamps in one enclosure. It is one interchangeable light source that changes role when connected to different accessories.
New Atlas’ contemporary report describes the Core and its four peripherals in detail.
The four lighting modes
1. Flashlight
With the Core attached to its dedicated handle, Xeter Spark becomes a conventional directional flashlight. Campaign descriptions report that the head can slide in and out to change the beam from a concentrated spot to a wider spread. Brightness can reportedly be adjusted through the physical controls and, in campaign-era descriptions, through a smartphone connection.

This configuration would be the most natural choice for inspecting a dark work area, finding equipment at a campsite, or walking after dark. However, the published maximum of 1,200 lumens does not establish how long that output can be sustained, whether the lamp thermally reduces output, or how much useful runtime remains at maximum power.
2. Headlamp
The elastic headband mount positions the Core on the forehead, leaving both hands free for repairs, hiking, campsite setup, or emergency work. That is potentially useful for anyone who switches frequently between carrying a light and working with tools.
The available descriptions confirm the mount but do not independently establish long-term comfort, stability while running, sweat resistance, or performance in cold conditions. Those details matter because a general-purpose Core may not be as light or as balanced as a dedicated headlamp.

3. Bicycle light
The handlebar mount converts the Core into a forward-facing bicycle light. Campaign material describes adjustable positioning, including horizontal rotation and vertical aiming, which could help a rider direct the beam toward the road or trail.

Riders should also consider whether the mount can withstand potholes and rough trails, and whether the beam can be aimed low enough to avoid dazzling other road users.
4. Camping lantern
For lantern use, the Core fits into a translucent matte diffuser. Rather than projecting a narrow beam, the diffuser spreads the light for softer area illumination. It can reportedly stand on a flat surface or hang using an integrated loop or band.
This configuration is more suitable for illuminating a tent, table, or campsite than for seeing a long distance. The available material does not provide independent measurements for light distribution, glare, hanging stability, heat, or runtime at a comfortable campsite brightness. A diffuser should also be kept away from flammable materials and used inside a tent only if the manufacturer’s safety guidance specifically permits it.
How the Core and battery modules work
The battery architecture is one of Xeter Spark’s least certain technical details. Campaign and press materials describe batteries in the interchangeable accessories: reportedly 5,500 mAh in the flashlight, headlamp, and bicycle modules, and 3,000 mAh in the diffuser.
The strongest available description says the Core itself has no battery. However, campaign video material appeared to suggest otherwise, and another product description says that every module contains a rechargeable battery. The available evidence does not resolve this contradiction.

That distinction matters in practical use. If the batteries are housed in the accessories, users may need to charge the specific holder required for the next task. The system may provide useful redundancy if several holders can operate independently, but that benefit remains conditional because the charging method, cable standard, charging indicators, and Core battery arrangement are not conclusively documented.
The magnetic connection is convenient for changing configurations, but it also introduces questions that the available coverage does not answer: whether the Core locks mechanically into the bicycle mount, how well the electrical contacts tolerate grit and moisture, whether vibration can cause detachment, and whether a secondary tether is provided.

These figures should be treated as manufacturer or campaign claims rather than verified performance results. In particular, a 1,200-lumen maximum does not tell a buyer how bright the light remains after several minutes of operation or how quickly heat protection reduces output.
Brightness, focus, and controls
Reported controls include a rotating rim or head for mechanical brightness adjustment, sliding focus adjustment, button presses for different light patterns, and Bluetooth control through a smartphone app. Campaign descriptions also mention strobe, SOS, customizable shortcuts, and voice-control compatibility with Siri and Google Assistant.
The software features are now a significant ownership risk. The available sources do not establish whether the app remains listed in current app stores, supports current iOS and Android releases, works without an account, or allows basic operation without a phone. They also do not establish whether voice features require an internet connection or whether firmware updates are necessary.
A product intended for emergency use should therefore be judged primarily on its physical controls. If the app disappears, the Core should still offer the basic lighting functions; the available documentation does not fully confirm the extent of that independence.

Is IP67 enough for camping and cycling?
IP67 generally means that a device is dust-tight and can withstand temporary immersion in water under specified test conditions. Contemporary coverage describes the product as suitable for immersion to approximately one metre for about 30 minutes.

That rating is not a promise of indefinite underwater operation or universal protection in every configuration. It does not automatically guarantee safe use during repeated immersion, heavy cycling rain, freezing weather, surf exposure, or contact with mud and sand. Salt water can be particularly damaging to charging contacts and metal interfaces.
Users should distinguish between the rating of an assembled product and the rating of each individual component. The available information does not confirm whether every battery holder, the Core, the magnetic contacts, and the diffuser carry the same protection rating. After exposure to water or dirt, contacts should be cleaned and dried before charging, following the manufacturer’s instructions.

Xeter Spark was a crowdfunding-era product rather than an established retail light. An accessible campaign record identifies a campaign running from October 18 to November 23, 2022, with $87,538 raised against a $10,000 goal from 544 backers. The record is available through BackerKit’s campaign page.
There is a platform discrepancy in the historical coverage. New Atlas described the project as an Indiegogo campaign, while the campaign-tracking record identifies it as Kickstarter. The available sources do not establish whether this reflects a relaunch, a platform transition, separate pages, or inaccurate syndicated information.

As of 2026, the available evidence does not establish that Xeter Spark became a normally stocked, supported retail product. Buyers should verify live inventory, delivery terms, warranty coverage, replacement modules, battery support, and app functionality before paying. A funded campaign is not proof that a product shipped successfully to every backer or that it remains supported years later.
Advantages and disadvantages
Potential advantages
- One Core can serve as a flashlight, headlamp, bicycle light, or lantern.
- Users may carry fewer separate light engines.
- Magnetic module changes could be faster than switching between complete lights.
- Adjustable focus may be more versatile than a fixed-beam lamp.
- The diffuser creates a genuinely different area-lighting pattern.
- Several battery-equipped holders could offer some redundancy if the reported architecture is correct.
Important disadvantages
- The Core is a single point of failure for all four functions.
- The system may require charging several separate accessories.
- Magnetic and electrical contacts can be vulnerable to grit, moisture, and metal debris.
- A claimed 1,200-lumen peak does not establish sustained brightness or thermal performance.
- A flashlight beam is not automatically an appropriate or legally compliant bicycle beam.
- App-dependent features may stop working if software support ends.
- Replacement mounts and battery modules may be difficult to obtain.
- Four configurations do not provide four simultaneously usable lights.
Who should consider Xeter Spark?
Xeter Spark could appeal to campers, cyclists, hikers, and preparedness-minded users who value a shared light engine and are comfortable with crowdfunding-era uncertainty. It may also suit someone who wants one kit that can move from a tent to a bicycle or work area without packing four complete lamps.
It is a weaker choice for anyone who needs guaranteed retail support, field-replaceable batteries, proven long-duration output, certified bicycle performance, or a light that can be repaired locally. For those priorities, separate dedicated products are easier to evaluate: a rechargeable flashlight, a purpose-built headlamp, a bicycle headlight with an appropriate beam and mount, and a camping lantern.
Another modular lighting system may also be worth considering, but comparisons should focus on current availability, battery interchangeability, replacement accessories, mounting security, app independence, and warranty support—not just the number of advertised functions.
Bottom line for practical buyers
Xeter Spark’s central idea is straightforward and potentially useful: one removable LED Core can be adapted into four types of outdoor light. Its strongest selling point is versatility, not proof that it performs as well as four specialized products.
The caution is equally important. The battery design contains unresolved contradictions, the headline specifications are campaign claims without independent testing in the available coverage, software support is uncertain, and current retail availability has not been verified. Treat Xeter Spark as a historical modular-lighting concept unless a live official source confirms that the complete kit, replacement modules, warranty, and app support are currently available.
