Yes, Wyze’s first 4K security camera is real, and Wyze listed the Wyze Cam Pan v4 at $59.98 when checked. But it launched on August 26, 2025, so it is no longer a brand-new release. The more important qualification for homeowners, landlords, and small-site operators is that this is a wired pan-and-tilt camera—not a battery model—and its advanced cloud and AI features may require a separate subscription.
What the Wyze Cam Pan v4 actually is
The Wyze Cam Pan v4 is a motorized Wi-Fi security camera that Wyze marketed as its first 4K camera. It records at 3840 × 2160, pans 360 degrees horizontally, tilts 180 degrees vertically, and can track people, pets, and vehicles.

It is designed for indoor or outdoor use and has an IP65 rating. That makes it dust-tight and resistant to water jets, but not submersible. The camera also requires wired power, so installation needs a nearby outlet and suitable cable routing.

Is it really a 4K camera?
According to Wyze’s technical specifications, yes: the Pan v4 outputs 3840 × 2160 video. However, resolution alone does not guarantee a sharp image in every situation.

- Daytime recording is listed at 20 frames per second.
- Night recording is listed at 15 frames per second.
- It uses a 1/2.7-inch CMOS sensor and H.264 encoding.
- It offers up to 8× digital zoom, not optical zoom.
Digital zoom enlarges existing pixels; it cannot restore detail that the sensor did not capture. Lighting, distance, compression, movement, and the camera’s relatively modest frame rates will all affect what usable detail you get. The 4K label is therefore best understood as an output-resolution specification, not a promise of premium image quality in darkness or at long range.
Pan-and-tilt coverage has a trade-off
The motorized head can cover a much larger area than a fixed camera, making it useful for a room, yard, workshop, or general property monitoring. It supports preset waypoints, customizable tracking priorities, and a privacy position that points the lens downward and turns off its view.
But a moving lens is not the same as simultaneous coverage. If the camera follows a person across a yard, it may temporarily stop viewing a doorway or another part of the property. For uninterrupted coverage of one critical entrance, a fixed camera may be the better choice. Pan-and-tilt motors also add mechanical complexity, although the available information does not establish a product-wide failure rate.

Outdoor installation: what the IP65 rating does—and does not—mean
The stated operating range is -4°F to 122°F (-20°C to 50°C), and the IP65 rating supports outdoor placement. However, the included power adapter is intended for indoor use. An exposed outdoor installation may require a suitable outdoor-rated power solution or weather-protected electrical setup.
Before mounting the camera, test Wi-Fi at the intended location. Exterior walls, distance from the router, and construction materials can weaken the signal. A wired camera also needs a practical route to power; IP65 does not remove that requirement.
Night vision, spotlight, and siren
The Pan v4 includes infrared night vision, a 60-lumen white spotlight, color night vision, two-way audio, and a 100dB siren. Color night vision generally requires visible light from the spotlight or another light source. That can improve identification, but it may also attract attention or disturb neighbors.

- SMART 2.5K QHD RESOLUTION — CAPTURE EVERY DETAIL — Record in crystal-clear 2560×1440 video with a 120° wide field of view. This smart camera captures license plates, package labels, and faces with clarity that standard 1080P cameras miss. Ideal for homeowners monitoring driveways, porches, and entryways where detail matters most.
- ENHANCED COLOR NIGHT VISION — SEE CLEARLY IN TOTAL DARKNESS — Industry-leading Starlight Sensor paired with a 72-lumen spotlight delivers vivid, full-color footage even in pitch black. Whether watching your backyard at midnight or checking the garage after hours, this smart indoor/outdoor camera delivers color clarity that (infrared) IR-only cameras cannot match,
- IP65 WEATHERPROOF — BUILT FOR EVERY SEASON — Rated IP65 for dust-tight, water-jet-resistant protection against rain, snow, heat, and humidity. Operates from -4°F to 113°F (-20°C to 45°C). Mount on your front porch, garage, backyard fence, or driveway post — one camera built for year-round outdoor security.
- MOTION-ACTIVATED SPOTLIGHT WITH DETERRENT SIREN — When motion is detected, the 72-lumen spotlight floods the area and the 100 dB siren sounds to deter intruders and package thieves on contact. Trigger both remotely from the Wyze app or set automated rules. Built-in active deterrence for homeowners and renters who want home security that fights back.
- AI-POWERED SMART ALERTS — On-device AI distinguishes people, packages, pets, and vehicles[XC1.1] so you receive only the notifications that matter. Ignore false alarms from passing cars or swaying branches. Perfect for pet monitoring when you’re away and package detection during delivery season.
The siren is a deterrent, not a guarantee against intrusion. Two-way audio and app alerts depend on network connectivity, and any camera should be positioned so its audio and video monitoring complies with applicable privacy expectations and local rules.
What the roughly $60 price includes
Wyze listed the single-camera Pan v4 at $59.98 when checked. Prices, tax, shipping, promotions, stock, and regional availability can change, so treat that figure as a snapshot rather than a guaranteed permanent price.
The hardware price should not be confused with the total cost of ownership:

Inside, outside, right-side-up, or upside down, IP65 weather resistance lets you mount it anywhere (mounting kit included).
- Pan & Tilt Motion Tracking — Detects, follows and records motion with 360° of pan and 180° of tilt for complete coverage.
- Clear 2K HD Resolution with WDR and Color Night Vision — See all details in full color, day or night. WDR (Wide Dynamic Range) balances dark and light spots in the same scene for a more even picture.
- Integrated Spotlights + Siren — Deter intruders or light your way home with two motion-activated spotlights. Activate the loud 98db siren for extra "get outta here" power.
- Camera: about $60 at the cited Wyze listing.
- microSD card: optional and sold separately for local recording.
- Subscription: potentially required for advanced cloud history, AI search, descriptive alerts, and related features.
- Installation: outdoor-rated power or weather-protection accessories may add cost.
- Electricity and connectivity: the camera needs continuous wired power and a working Wi-Fi connection.
Local storage versus Wyze subscriptions
The camera supports microSD cards up to 512GB and specifies exFAT formatting. A card is the main route for buyers who want local recording without paying for ongoing cloud storage, but it is not included by default.
Wyze also supports the Pan v4 with Cam Plus-family plans. Plan-dependent features can include cloud video history, advanced detection, AI search, and descriptive alerts. The official plan-compatibility page explains which services apply. Subscription prices should be checked on Wyze’s live plan or checkout page because pricing can change.

Setup requirements
- Update or install the Wyze app. Wyze lists app version 3.7 or later, Android 10 or later, and iOS 16 or later.
- Connect the camera to power.
- Open the app, tap +, and select Add Device → Cameras → Pan and Tilt Camera → Wyze Cam Pan v4.
- Follow the Bluetooth and Wi-Fi pairing instructions.
- Install firmware updates if prompted.
- Configure privacy mode, detection settings, tracking priorities, and waypoints.
- Insert and format a compatible microSD card if local recording is required.
App labels can change, so confirm the current path in Wyze’s live setup materials if a menu differs.
Common problems to plan for
- No power at the mounting point: plan cable routing or use an appropriate outdoor-rated power arrangement; do not assume the included indoor adapter is safe when exposed to weather.
- Weak outdoor Wi-Fi: test the signal where the camera will be installed before permanent mounting.
- No recordings on the card: check that the card is recognized, formatted as exFAT, and configured for event or continuous recording.
- Less detail than expected: confirm the viewing stream is using the available resolution, then consider distance, lighting, compression, and the limits of digital zoom.
- Missed activity: review tracking behavior, detection zones, waypoints, camera orientation, and whether the lens has moved to another area.
- Privacy concerns: use Privacy Mode when the camera should not view a room, while still protecting the Wyze account and home network.
- Older devices: Android versions below 10 and iOS versions below 16 fall outside Wyze’s stated compatibility range.
How it compares with other choices
| Option | Why consider it | Where it falls short |
|---|---|---|
| Wyze Cam v4 | Fixed 2.5K camera for buyers who want a simpler view and do not need pan-and-tilt. | It is not 4K and cannot follow movement around a large area. |
| Ring Pan-Tilt Indoor Cam | A natural option for households already using Ring or Amazon devices. | Indoor-focused ecosystem and subscription considerations; not the same outdoor-rated proposition. |
| TP-Link Tapo C120 | Alternative ecosystem with local-storage support. | The cited product information does not establish it as a 4K pan-and-tilt equivalent. |
| Fixed outdoor camera | Continuous coverage of one driveway, gate, entrance, or work area. | Less flexible if you need to monitor multiple directions. |
Who should buy the Wyze Cam Pan v4?
It makes the most sense for buyers who want broad pan-and-tilt coverage at a low hardware price, already use the Wyze app, have reliable wired power, and are comfortable choosing between a separately purchased microSD card and a Wyze cloud plan.
It is a weaker fit for anyone needing a battery camera, simultaneous coverage of several directions, high frame rates for fast-moving subjects, or every AI feature without a recurring subscription. For a single critical entrance or driveway, a fixed camera may provide more dependable continuous coverage.

Wyze’s $59.98 claim is broadly accurate, and the Pan v4 is genuinely specified as a 4K camera. But the headline leaves out the details that determine whether it is a good security purchase: it launched on August 26, 2025, requires wired power, uses a moving lens that can create temporary blind spots, needs a separate microSD card for local recording, and may require a subscription for advanced cloud and AI functions. It is best viewed as an inexpensive 4K pan-and-tilt platform—not a complete $60 security system.
