The award covers existing facilities at Hides and Caution Bay, the project’s pipeline network, well pads and flowlines—not a new LNG plant or a new pipeline build.
What the contract covers
Wood says the work spans several parts of the operating PNG LNG system:

- Approximately 700 kilometres of pipeline network
- Associated well pads and flowlines
The project connects gas production in Hela Province with processing at Hides and liquefaction at Caution Bay. Oil & Gas Journal reports that gas is transported by onshore and offshore pipeline to the plant, then loaded onto LNG carriers for export. The publication says production began in 2014 and that the project has shipped more than 1,000 cargoes since startup, primarily to long-term customers in Asia-Pacific. Oil & Gas Journal

Why it is described as brownfield work
Brownfield construction services support existing operating assets. In this case, the announcement concerns maintaining and enhancing facilities already forming part of PNG LNG infrastructure. It is not an announcement of a new-build engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) project. Wood says the work is intended to help sustain asset integrity and reliable, safe operations; those are the company’s stated aims, not independently verified outcomes.
