How the investigation and public appeal were described
Investigators had collected evidence and were reviewing security-camera footage sent for digital analysis. The tools reportedly had recorded serial numbers and the construction company’s initials marked on them.
Sheriff Lukas urged prospective buyers to be cautious about suspiciously low-priced tools, including listings on Facebook Marketplace and items at pawn shops. He asked people who see tools bearing the company’s initials or otherwise suspect they are stolen to contact the sheriff’s office so detectives can check them.

Sheriff Lukas said thefts can slow projects and raise insurance costs. This case illustrates the immediate disruption a missing set of portable tools can cause, but it does not establish a broader trend in construction-site theft.
