If your Samsung dryer tumbles but produces no heat, first check the cycle and settings, then consider the power or gas supply, venting, and installation. If the dryer is warm but clothes stay damp, troubleshoot it as a low-heat or drying-performance problem instead. The right steps depend on whether your model is electric, gas, or ventless.
First, tell the difference between no heat and weak heat
Check the display for an error code and confirm which cycle and options are selected. Some settings, including Eco Dry, can leave part of a cycle without heat. Samsung recommends testing with Time Dry and Eco Dry turned off, then checking for warmth after 30 seconds. If you feel some warmth, follow the checks for insufficient drying rather than assuming the heater has failed. See Samsung’s troubleshooting guidance for clothes that are not dry.
Check what type of dryer you have and whether it heated before
If the dryer has never heated at its current location, or the problem began after installation or a move, check the setup and supply before suspecting an internal part. Samsung’s dryer setup and installation guidance covers model-specific requirements.
- Electric model: Confirm the dryer has the correct electrical supply and that its power cord was installed properly. An electric dryer can still tumble if one of its two circuits trips, so a working display and drum do not prove that the heating supply is intact.
- Gas model: Confirm that the gas line is connected and the supply is on. If you suspect a gas connection or leak, stop and contact a qualified professional rather than attempting a repair.

Reset the breaker on an electric dryer
Samsung notes that one circuit can trip while the motor and controls continue to work. At the electrical panel, switch the dryer breaker fully off, wait 30 seconds, and switch it back on. Samsung also describes this power issue in its guide to a dryer losing power or not turning on. If the breaker trips again, stop resetting it and contact an electrician.
Check the lint screen and exhaust airflow
Clean the lint screen and inspect the exhaust vent for blockage, kinks, crushing, or unsuitable ducting. Restricted airflow can prevent heat and moisture from escaping; Samsung says the dryer may reduce heat when it detects that they are not leaving. Its guidance calls for an appropriately fitted duct—not plastic or foil—within the maximum length specified for the model. Each 90-degree turn reduces the maximum length by six feet, according to Samsung’s installation guidance. Follow the manual before changing ductwork or attempting to reach an inaccessible vent.

Where your model supports it, run the vent blockage test using the instructions for that model. Samsung recommends cleaning the exhaust vent once or twice each year, even when there are no symptoms.
Use the ventless-dryer checks if your model has no exhaust vent
Ventless models have a separate troubleshooting path; do not assume that a vented dryer’s exhaust setup applies. Samsung’s ventless dryer guidance recommends checking the household breaker or fuses, lint filter, exhaust duct, heat exchanger, gas supply on gas models, and selected cycle. Some ventless cycles do not require heat, and the machine may be in its cooling phase. Follow your model’s manual for cleaning and inspection steps.

Use error codes to decide what to do next
Record the exact code before restarting or changing settings. Samsung’s dryer error-code guide lists temperature-related codes that can point to a sensor or temperature issue and may be associated with a clogged lint screen or vent. Heating codes such as HC or hE can indicate overheating related to restricted airflow; Samsung also notes that low voltage may cause a heating error on an electric dryer. Clean the lint screen and check airflow as directed for your model. If the code remains, request service.

If the vent blockage test passes but the dryer remains completely cold, Samsung advises requesting service. Service is also the safer next step for a persistent error code, a breaker that trips again, or a suspected electrical, gas, or internal fault. A failed heating element should not be presumed from the symptom alone: the title does not identify a model, and Samsung says heater failure is rare in this troubleshooting context. Diagnosis is needed before choosing any replacement part.
