If your Samsung dryer keeps tumbling after the cycle, first check whether Wrinkle Prevent is on: it tumbles without heat after the cycle and stops when you open the door. An END display or a drum light that stays on briefly may be normal. If the drum keeps spinning or the panel ignores Power, follow Samsung’s reset steps and arrange service if the problem persists.
Is the dryer still running, or is only the display or light on?
Check what remains active and when it happens. Samsung says END can remain on the display until you open the door. On some newer models, the drum light may also stay on briefly after the dryer is powered off. Neither indicator alone means the dryer has failed to turn off.
Continued drum movement after the cycle is different. Samsung’s guidance identifies a drum that will not stop spinning, or a panel that will not turn off when you press Power, as abnormal. The exact controls and features depend on the dryer model.
Check whether Wrinkle Prevent is tumbling the load
Wrinkle Prevent continues tumbling after a cycle without heat. The drum may turn for a few minutes, then tumble intermittently. Opening the door stops the feature.

Samsung says the feature may run for up to 90 or 180 minutes, depending on the model. Check your model’s manual for its specific setting and duration rather than assuming either time applies to every Samsung dryer. If the drum stops when you open the door and the load is not being heated, Wrinkle Prevent may explain the movement.
What to do if the dryer will not stop or power off
- Press Power. If the panel responds and the dryer shuts down, the immediate issue is resolved.
- If Power does nothing, reset power at the circuit breaker. Then try turning the dryer on and off again, following Samsung’s troubleshooting guidance.
- If it still runs or the panel will not turn off, request service. Contact Samsung support or a qualified appliance repair professional. The symptom alone does not establish which component, if any, has failed.
Samsung notes that a dryer may not stop immediately after Power is pressed because of safety precautions. Use caution when opening it: the drum and metal garment parts may still be hot. For exact controls and instructions, use the manual for your model and market.

Does a clogged vent cause the dryer to keep tumbling?
Samsung’s vent guidance addresses blockage, exhaust, and heating or drying behavior; it does not identify a clogged vent as the cause of continued post-cycle tumbling. Treat vent cleaning as separate maintenance, not as the fix for a dryer that will not stop. Samsung recommends cleaning the exhaust vent once or twice each year, and describes model-dependent vent blockage tests. Follow the instructions for your model.

Escalate the issue if the drum continues running after the Wrinkle Prevent check and the power reset, or if the panel still will not turn off. Samsung recommends service when its basic steps do not resolve the behavior. Do not assume a relay, control board, or other particular part is defective without a diagnosis.

Have the model number available when you consult the manual or contact support. Model-specific instructions determine the available controls, indicator meanings, feature duration, and tests. If an error code is also displayed, follow Samsung’s model-specific guidance; a persistent error may require service.
