As of August 16, 2026, the clearest officially documented Apple Home-compatible robot vacuums come from SwitchBot and iRobot. Most use Matter rather than legacy HomeKit. Confirmed models include several SwitchBot robots and newer iRobot Roomba models such as the Roomba Max 705 Vac, Roomba Max 705 Combo, Roomba Plus 505 Combo, and Roomba Plus 505X Combo.

Exact model, firmware, region, and hub requirements matter. A product that supports an iPhone app, Siri Shortcuts, Alexa, or Google Assistant is not automatically compatible with Apple Home.

SwitchBot: the widest confirmed range, but often basic controls

SwitchBot has the broadest officially documented selection in this list. Its compatible robot vacuums include the S1, S1 Plus, K10+, K10+ Pro, K10+ Pro Combo, K11+, S10, S20, and K20+ Pro.

Matter over Wi-Fi

SwitchBot identifies the S10, S20, K10+ Pro Combo, K11+, and K20+ Pro as supporting Matter over Wi-Fi. This is the simpler route because the vacuum can expose Matter without relying on a separate SwitchBot bridge in the same way as Matter-over-Bridge products. However, “Matter over Wi-Fi” does not guarantee a completely hub-free installation in every configuration. You may still need the SwitchBot app for initial setup, current firmware, and account or regional configuration.

Matter over Bridge

The S1, S1 Plus, K10+, and K10+ Pro use a compatible SwitchBot hub for the documented Apple Home route. Supported hub options include the Hub Mini Matter Enabled, Hub 2, Hub 3, and AI Hub, subject to the model and current compatibility table.

SwitchBot’s specific K10+ and K10+ Pro instructions describe using a Hub 2 or Hub Mini Matter Enabled to expose the robots to Apple Home. SwitchBot also documents a capacity of up to 30 sub-devices for Hub 3; verify the capacity and compatibility of the exact hub before buying it for a larger installation.

What SwitchBot exposes in Apple Home

SwitchBot’s Apple Home sub-device documentation describes the robot vacuum mainly as a basic control:

  • On: start cleaning.
  • Off: finish cleaning, return, or recharge.

Do not assume that adding a SwitchBot vacuum to Apple Home also adds its maps, room selection, suction settings, mop behavior, obstacle-avoidance options, schedules, or detailed maintenance information. The SwitchBot app remains important for those functions.

iRobot: the clearest one-brand buying path

iRobot explicitly advertises Matter and Apple Home support on the product pages for the Roomba Max 705 Vac, Roomba Max 705 Combo, Roomba Plus 505 Combo, and Roomba Plus 505X Combo.

The cited product pages describe starting cleaning through Apple Home, using Siri commands, scheduling future cleaning, and creating Apple Home automations. iRobot also specifies an iPhone running iOS 18.4 or later, or an iPad running iPadOS 18.4 or later, for pairing and local control. A compatible HomePod or Apple TV home hub is required for features such as automations, notifications, and remote access.

That does not mean every current Roomba supports Apple Home. iRobot’s U.S. catalog includes additional 100-, 200-, Plus 400-, Plus 500-, and Max 700-series products, but the presence of the Roomba Home app or general Siri/Alexa compatibility is not proof of Matter support. Check the product page for the exact model and explicit Matter and Apple Home wording before purchase.

Prices seen on August 16, 2026

  • Roomba Max 705 Vac: $699.99 on iRobot’s U.S. site.
  • Roomba Plus 505 Combo: $999.99.
  • Roomba Max 705 Combo: $1,299.99.

These are dated price observations, not permanent prices. Check the current U.S. product page before buying.

What Apple Home can—and cannot—do

Matter gives a robot access to Apple Home, but it does not guarantee that Apple Home replaces the manufacturer’s app. The practical feature set varies by model and integration.

Function What to expect
Start cleaning Documented for SwitchBot and the listed Matter-enabled Roomba models.
Stop or return to dock Documented by SwitchBot as the Off action; iRobot advertises Apple Home control, but exact behavior can vary by model.
Siri Available where the vacuum is exposed to Apple Home; Siri Shortcuts alone are a different kind of integration.
Scheduling Advertised by iRobot for the listed Matter-enabled models. Do not assume identical scheduling options for SwitchBot.
Apple Home automations Advertised by iRobot. A HomePod or Apple TV home hub is needed for remote and automation features.
Room-specific cleaning Not established by the cited SwitchBot documentation. Keep using the manufacturer’s app unless the exact model documents room control in Apple Home.
Maps, suction, mop modes, and maintenance Generally remain in the manufacturer’s app unless the exact integration explicitly exposes them.
Battery, bin, dock, and error status Do not assume these details appear in Apple Home; verify model-specific documentation.

A generic switch in Apple Home is not necessarily a malfunction. For SwitchBot, it is the documented design: Apple Home provides a simple clean/recharge control while advanced settings remain in SwitchBot.

How to add a compatible robot vacuum to Apple Home

General Matter setup

  1. Set up the vacuum in the manufacturer’s app.
  2. Update the vacuum and any required hub to current firmware.
  3. Confirm the exact model, region, and Matter path in the manufacturer’s documentation.
  4. Put the vacuum or hub into Matter pairing mode.
  5. Open Apple Home and tap Add Accessory.
  6. Scan or enter the Matter setup code.
  7. Assign the vacuum to a room and give it a clear name, such as “Downstairs Vacuum.”
  8. Test start, stop, return-to-dock behavior, Siri, and any automation you intend to use.
  9. Keep the manufacturer’s app installed for maps, room cleaning, maintenance, and advanced settings.

SwitchBot-specific notes

For Matter-over-Wi-Fi products, SwitchBot says to use Connect Device in the SwitchBot app to put the product into Matter setup mode. For Matter-over-Bridge models, first add the vacuum to the SwitchBot app, ensure it is online, and connect it to a supported hub. Some S1 and S1 Plus devices may appear under Matter Setup → Secondary Devices → Lab Feature (Beta), according to SwitchBot’s compatibility documentation.

iRobot-specific notes

Use the Roomba Home app to complete the robot’s initial setup and updates, then follow the Matter and Apple Home instructions shown for the exact supported model. Pairing requires iOS 18.4 or later or iPadOS 18.4 or later. For automations, remote access, and notifications, use a compatible HomePod or Apple TV home hub.

Troubleshooting Matter pairing

  • The model is missing from Apple Home: Confirm that the exact model—not merely the product family—is on the manufacturer’s Matter list.
  • Pairing fails immediately: Update the vacuum, hub, and manufacturer app. Check that the Matter code has not already been used or expired.
  • Discovery fails: Temporarily disable VPNs and avoid guest Wi-Fi, router isolation, multicast filtering, or incompatible network segments.
  • A SwitchBot robot is unavailable: Check that it is online in the SwitchBot app and that the required hub is supported and online.
  • The device appears only as a switch: This may be the expected SwitchBot Apple Home integration rather than a setup failure.
  • Automation does not run away from home: Check that an Apple Home hub—HomePod or compatible Apple TV—is configured and online.
  • The Apple Home state conflicts with the manufacturer app: Refresh both apps, restart the home hub, and confirm that the robot has a stable network connection.
  • The feature is unavailable in your country: Check the model number, sales region, app region, and firmware. Matter availability can vary by market and rollout.

Brands that are not verified here

The following brands should not be presented as confirmed Apple Home-compatible based only on community posts, retailer listings, third-party integrations, or general Matter claims:

  • Roborock
  • Dreame
  • Ecovacs
  • Eufy
  • Shark
  • Dyson
  • Samsung
  • Narwal

This does not automatically mean those brands are incompatible. It means a current, official, model-by-model Apple Home or Matter list was not established in the cited evidence. Treat claims such as “Matter-ready,” “works with Siri,” or “works with Alexa” as insufficient until the manufacturer documents Apple Home support for the exact model in your region.

How to choose

Choose iRobot for the clearest official Apple Home path

The listed Matter-enabled Roomba models are the simplest choice when official Apple Home language is your priority. The trade-off is price: the confirmed models are newer products, and Apple Home still may not expose every advanced cleaning function.

Choose SwitchBot for model variety or an existing SwitchBot ecosystem

SwitchBot offers more confirmed model flexibility, including compact robots and floor-cleaning models. It is especially practical if you already own a compatible SwitchBot hub. The trade-off is that some models need a bridge and Apple Home control may be limited to cleaning and returning or recharging.

Do not choose based on Apple Home alone

Also compare navigation, vacuum and mop performance, obstacle avoidance, pet-hair handling, dock size, noise, maintenance, replacement consumables, privacy, cloud dependence, warranty, repairability, and availability in your country. Apple Home compatibility is a useful control feature, not a substitute for evaluating the vacuum itself.

Advanced alternatives

Unsupported vacuums can sometimes be exposed to Apple Home through Home Assistant, Homebridge, vendor plugins, third-party Matter bridges, or Shortcuts automations. These approaches are not equivalent to official Apple Home support. They may require a local server, cloud API access, ongoing maintenance, and troubleshooting when an app or integration changes. Use them only if you are comfortable maintaining a smart-home system.

Bottom line

For a verified Apple Home purchase, start with the Matter-enabled Roomba Max 705 Vac, Roomba Max 705 Combo, Roomba Plus 505 Combo, or Roomba Plus 505X Combo, or with one of SwitchBot’s officially listed models. Choose SwitchBot carefully according to whether the robot uses Matter over Wi-Fi or requires a Matter bridge. In every case, verify the exact model, firmware, region, and expected Apple Home controls before buying.
