Google’s June 4–28, 2026 Store promotion showed the Streamer at $79.99 and the thermostat at $239.99. That offer ended June 28, so those amounts should not be treated as current unless the live offers page shows a renewed promotion: Google Store offers.

Use the compatibility check
The fourth-generation thermostat is intended for many 24V systems. Retailer information describes compatibility with gas, electric, oil, forced-air, heat-pump and radiant systems, and says a C-wire is not required in most compatible homes. “Most” does not mean every installation: wiring, power availability, HVAC equipment and ventilation configuration determine compatibility. Use Google’s compatibility checker or arrange professional assessment before ordering; do not assume installation is guaranteed.

Plan for the Google Home app
Setup and control use the Google Home app. Buyers replacing older Nest hardware should not assume the legacy Nest app is the primary setup path.
Understand the included sensor
The bundle includes one Nest Temperature Sensor (2nd gen), useful for monitoring a room or floor that differs from the thermostat location. Google says up to six additional sensors can be used per thermostat. A sensor measures conditions where it is placed; it does not create an independent HVAC zone.
Quick Recap
Which buying route is safest?
- Start with the Google Store if first-party support, exact bundle confirmation or Google promotions matters most.
- Use Best Buy or Target when local pickup, a retailer return process or a retailer discount is more valuable.
- Compare the delivered total, not just the headline price, and confirm seller, condition, delivery and returns.
- For the thermostat, complete the compatibility check before scheduling installation or opening the package.
