KONE’s Digital Experience Centre in Pune, India, is presented as a place where a project team can see elevator planning, connected-building functions, equipment visibility and service operations in one customer environment. KONE announced the centre on October 9, 2026. The announcement names KONE Studio, MyKONE, E-Link and a Service Dashboard, but it does not publish a fixed visitor itinerary, opening hours, booking procedure or guaranteed demonstration sequence.

Plan the visit as a working session rather than a showroom tour. Bring your building type, design stage, traffic assumptions, shaft constraints, accessibility requirements, desired cab experience, integration needs and operating-team questions. Ask KONE India in advance which demonstrations are available for your market and project, then leave with clearly labelled preliminary assumptions, decisions still required and actions for the design team.

What the Pune centre is designed to show

The centre’s documented scope follows an elevator through the building lifecycle: early design and configuration, customer and project visibility, equipment operations, and service insight. That makes it relevant to owners, developers, architects, engineers, contractors, facilities teams and digital-building specialists—not only to an elevator buyer.

Area What KONE says it covers What to verify during your visit
Design and configuration Digital exploration of elevator options and configurations through KONE Studio. Which dimensions, specifications, saved project details and CAD/BIM export formats fit your current design workflow.
Project and equipment visibility MyKONE visibility across projects, equipment and services over the customer lifecycle. Which users can see which information, and whether the proposed account structure suits your owner, consultant and contractor teams.
Operations E-Link real-time visibility into equipment status and operations. What data is live, how alerts are presented, and what connectivity or contract conditions apply.
Service insight A Service Dashboard that consolidates service and operational information. Which measures, reports, permissions and workflows are available in your market and proposed service arrangement.
Connected-building experience KONE Journey, a modular combination of destination control, access management, infotainment and related services. Which modules are needed, how they integrate with your access or building-management systems, and what is included in the project scope.

This is the announced capability set, not a promise that every tool will be shown live to every visitor. Availability can depend on the project, market, system configuration and commercial agreement.

Prepare a project brief that makes the demonstrations useful

Send a concise brief before the appointment and bring the latest drawings or models that you are permitted to share. The aim is not to demand a final design during a visit; it is to give KONE enough context to distinguish a general demonstration from a project-relevant discussion.

Building and project status

  • New construction or modernization, building type and intended use.
  • Project location, number of floors, approximate floor-to-floor heights and expected completion date.
  • Current design stage, decision deadline and parties responsible for approving the elevator concept.
  • Known planning, fire, accessibility or conservation constraints.

People-flow and capacity assumptions

  • Occupancy by floor and the busiest arrival, departure or transfer periods.
  • Expected peak traffic, special events, visitor patterns and service or freight movements.
  • Whether separate passenger, service, fire-fighting or accessible movement is required.
  • Any target waiting-time, handling-capacity or destination-control objective that has already been set.

KONE describes its early People Flow Planning and Consulting as addressing layouts, shaft placement, elevator group sizing and movement through a building. Ask which of your assumptions need validation by a vertical-transportation specialist and which outputs would remain preliminary after the meeting.

Space, structure and equipment constraints

  • Available shaft positions, core dimensions, pit and overhead limits, machine-room assumptions and structural openings.
  • Relationship to stairs, entrances, reception, security points, loading areas and refuge spaces.
  • Modernization constraints such as keeping an existing car or shaft in service, restricted access, heritage finishes or phased works.
  • Maintenance access, replacement routes and the location of control, communication and power equipment.

Passenger experience and accessibility

  • Cab dimensions, door arrangement, finishes, lighting, handrails, mirrors, screens, signalization and acoustic expectations.
  • Requirements for wheelchair users, people with sensory impairments, older passengers, children, luggage or hospital equipment.
  • Wayfinding, destination selection, language, emergency communication and visitor information.
  • Whether the design should support a premium, restrained, branded or highly durable interior.

Digital and operational requirements

  • Existing access-control, security, building-management, tenant or workplace systems.
  • Who needs information: owner, property manager, security team, facilities staff, service provider, consultant or tenant.
  • Required alerts, reports, audit trails, data retention, remote support and cybersecurity review points.
  • Preferred service response model, planned maintenance visibility and handover requirements.

What each named experience may contribute

KONE Studio for early design and configuration

KONE describes Studio as a digital tool for exploring and configuring elevator solutions. Its published description includes design options, building specifications, saved project details and CAD/BIM drawing exports. For an architect or engineer, the useful test is whether the tool can carry your actual constraints into a coordinated model rather than merely display attractive alternatives.

MyKONE for customer and project visibility

The centre announcement describes MyKONE as providing visibility across projects, equipment and services through the customer lifecycle. Ask for a role-based view: what an owner sees, what a project manager sees, what a facilities team sees and what information is available to a service provider.

Clarify how projects and individual units are organised, how documents and status information are updated, and what happens when responsibility moves from construction to operations. If several organisations will use the platform, establish account ownership, permissions, handover rules and the process for removing users when a contract or role changes.

E-Link and the Service Dashboard for operations

E-Link is described as providing real-time visibility into equipment status and operations. The Service Dashboard is described as consolidating service and operational insights. Those descriptions establish the intended function, not a guarantee that every data point will be available at your site.

Ask what “real time” means for the proposed connection, which events generate alerts, how faults are prioritised and what information is visible during an outage or communications failure. Ask whether the dashboard shows only KONE equipment or can combine information from other systems, and which reports can be exported for facilities, compliance and contract reviews. Confirm the network, gateway, cybersecurity, data-hosting and maintenance responsibilities that accompany the service.

KONE Journey and connected-building options

KONE presents Journey as a modular portfolio that can combine destination control, access management, infotainment and complementary services. It is described as suitable for new buildings and existing installations. Treat it as a set of selectable functions, not an automatic package.

Map each desired function to a building need. Access integration may control who can reach a floor; destination control may organise passenger requests; infotainment may deliver information or media in the passenger journey. Ask how these modules exchange data with your access-control and building-management systems, what happens if an external system is unavailable, and which interfaces, licenses, hardware and support obligations are part of the proposal.

Interior design and the passenger experience

KONE’s design material identifies materials, lighting, signalization, screens and other interior choices as part of elevator planning. It also describes a Digital Experience Car as an immersive in-car experience using displays, lighting and sound.

Do not assume that a physical Digital Experience Car or a particular finish mock-up is present at the Pune centre. Ask what can actually be viewed, touched or simulated on the date of your visit. If the project has strict cleaning, vandalism, fire, acoustic or maintenance requirements, test those criteria alongside the visual concept.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

A practical way to structure the meeting

KONE has not published a mandatory sequence. The following is a useful project-team agenda to request, not a promised centre itinerary.

  1. Start with the brief. State the building use, design stage, decision date and the two or three problems the team must solve.
  2. Review people flow and geometry. Discuss traffic assumptions, group sizing, shaft locations, accessibility and space efficiency before selecting finishes or digital features.
  3. Configure a representative concept. Use KONE Studio to explore the relevant dimensions, specifications and cab choices, then identify what remains subject to engineering validation.
  4. Trace the project lifecycle. Ask how the configured concept, equipment records, project status and service information would be handed from design to construction and operation.
  5. Test digital integration. Walk through the proposed Journey modules, access-control connections, alerts, dashboards, user roles and failure scenarios.
  6. Record decisions and open items. Capture assumptions, required drawings, responsible people, dates, commercial dependencies and questions that need a separate technical response.

Questions worth asking KONE

Design and performance

  • Which traffic and occupancy assumptions drive the proposed number, size and grouping of elevators?
  • How do shaft placement and core dimensions affect usable floor area, circulation and future flexibility?
  • Which calculations or approvals are needed before a Studio configuration can enter coordinated design?
  • How are accessibility, evacuation, emergency operation and service movements handled in this concept?

Digital systems

  • Which hardware, connectivity and software services are required for each Journey, MyKONE, E-Link or dashboard function?
  • What data is collected, who owns it, who can access it and how long is it retained?
  • How do the proposed systems integrate with access control, security, tenant applications and the building-management system?
  • What remains operational if the network, cloud service or an integrated third-party system is unavailable?

Service and handover

  • What information will the owner receive at practical completion, and in what file or platform format?
  • Which condition, fault, usage or maintenance indicators are available under the proposed service contract?
  • How are alerts triaged, acknowledged and escalated, and can the owner audit response history?
  • What training is provided for facilities and security teams, and how are user permissions managed after handover?

How to compare elevator concepts after the visit

A demonstration can make one configuration feel compelling, but the right choice depends on the building’s objectives and constraints. Use the same criteria for every concept and mark whether each result is measured, calculated, assumed or still to be confirmed.

Comparison axis Evidence to collect Decision question
People flow Traffic assumptions, group arrangement, destination-control logic and specialist validation. Will the system handle the stated peaks without compromising accessibility or service movement?
Space and construction Shaft, pit, overhead, core, structural and installation requirements. Does the concept fit the building without unacceptable loss of floor area or construction risk?
Passenger experience Cab dimensions, finishes, lighting, screens, signalization and wayfinding. Does the experience meet user, accessibility, durability and maintenance requirements?
Integration Interfaces, network needs, permissions, failure behaviour and cybersecurity responsibilities. Can the elevator system work reliably with the building’s digital environment?
Operations and service Equipment status, alerts, reports, response workflows and handover information. Will the operating team receive actionable information throughout the asset’s life?
Lifecycle priorities Modernization path, maintainability, replacement access, training and contract scope. Does the option remain practical when the building, technology or service provider changes?

KONE’s materials identify people-flow and space-efficiency planning, destination control, access integration, infotainment and modernization as relevant solution areas. They do not provide a project-specific performance comparison for your building, so do not declare one option superior until the project data and specialist checks support that conclusion.

What is and is not established by the published evidence

KONE’s public announcement establishes that the documented Digital Experience Centre is in Pune and that its announced focus spans design and configuration, lifecycle visibility, equipment operations and service insights. It does not establish that every KONE market has an equivalent centre, that every named tool will be available in a live demonstration, or that a visit includes a physical elevator car.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

KONE reported in a June 15, 2021 article that 45 percent of users gave its tools the top score of “extremely satisfied.” The cited passage does not state the survey sample size, field dates or methodology, so treat this as KONE-reported feedback from 2021 rather than a current independent performance statistic. The same article quotes Aleksi Marjamäki saying, “Our tools speed up the work process and ensure optimal use of building space,” and Aedas senior associate Miguel Falcao Fernandes saying, “The tools are very easy to work with. We simply feed in the parameters and get instant access to valuable data in the initial concept stages.” Those comments describe user impressions and intended benefits; they are not a guarantee of savings or outcomes on your project.

No centre-specific visitor numbers, independently measured project results or attendance statistics are established. Request project-specific evidence where a decision depends on performance, capacity, cost or savings.

After the visit: turn demonstrations into project controls

  1. Issue minutes within your normal project-documentation process, separating agreed decisions from suggestions and assumptions.
  2. Save any Studio configurations, drawings or exports with a revision number, author, date and status such as concept, coordination or approval.
  3. Assign owners to unresolved traffic, structural, accessibility, integration, cybersecurity and service questions.
  4. Ask for written confirmation of interfaces, responsibilities, exclusions, data access and handover deliverables before design freeze.
  5. Update the project risk register for dependencies such as network availability, third-party access systems, specialist approvals and long-lead equipment.
  6. Revisit the concept when occupancy, floor layouts, tenant requirements or the operating model changes; an early digital configuration is not a substitute for coordinated design.

The most productive outcome is a traceable set of project decisions: which elevator arrangement is being considered, why it fits the people-flow and space constraints, how the passenger and digital experience will work, what the operating team will receive, and which items still require specialist confirmation.
