Harp Design Co. closed its storefront and stopped taking orders in January 2023. As for Chip and Joanna Gaines, Harp has shared warm memories of their early friendship and work together; public evidence supports a positive history, but does not confirm the state of their private friendship today.
What is Clint Harp doing after Fixer Upper?
Harp’s work has extended beyond the furniture-making role viewers saw on Fixer Upper. He continued building projects for television, developed creative work of his own, and, according to a 2025 local report, entered the Waco real-estate business.

He hosted Restoration Road
Harp Design Co. says it worked with Magnolia Network on Restoration Road, a series focused on restoring historic structures. KWTX reported in April 2025 that the show ran for five seasons, from 2021 to 2024. Realtor.com had reported in February 2024 that the fourth season had wrapped and new episodes were being filmed at that time. That earlier production update is a snapshot from 2024, not confirmation of a current schedule. KWTX’s 2025 report and Realtor.com’s 2024 interview provide those dated details.
Harp Design Co. closed its storefront and stopped taking orders
Clint and Kelly Harp announced that Harp Design Co.’s storefront and website would close on January 20, 2023, and that the company would no longer accept new orders. They described the decision as a response to the demands of family life and running multiple businesses, including Clint’s television work—not as an announcement that he was leaving woodworking or television. In the announcement, Harp said he hoped to pursue new creative work while continuing Restoration Road. The company’s page still carries a closure notice. He moved into real estate in Waco
On April 23, 2025, KWTX reported that Harp had obtained a real-estate license and was working with Camille Johnson Realtors in Waco. The station said he was teaming up with agent Jonathan Grant, a longtime friend. This is the latest dated career update established here; it does not independently verify whether his role or brokerage has changed since that report. KWTX’s report on Harp’s move into real estate includes his remarks about pursuing a new dream.
He has other creative work, too
CAA Speakers lists Harp as host of the Man Unmade podcast and as the author of Handcrafted: A Woodworker’s Story. Those listings establish the projects, but do not establish whether the podcast is currently releasing new episodes. CAA Speakers’ biography has the listed details.

Why did Harp Design Co. close?
The 2023 announcement from Clint and Kelly Harp said the store and online business had become difficult to balance with their family and other work. Clint’s television commitments were among the demands they cited. The announcement framed the closure as a change in capacity and priorities: the storefront and order-taking were ending, while Harp planned to continue Restoration Road and explore other creative projects. It did not say that the couple had fallen out with the Gaineses.
Are Clint Harp and Chip and Joanna Gaines still friends?
The careful answer is that they appear to remain on warm terms, and Harp has spoken fondly about them, but the available public record does not definitively establish their current private friendship. Harp Design Co. describes working with the Gaineses on both Fixer Upper and Restoration Road. In a 2024 Realtor.com interview, Harp recalled Joanna visiting his shop with her children and remembered the families spending time together as Fixer Upper was getting started. He described those early days as, “We were all just hustling around the town, doing the best that we could.” The interview offers Harp’s own recollections.

A TV Insider recap published in February 2026 also characterized the relationship as continuing and pointed to Harp’s participation in a Fixer Upper anniversary project. That is secondary reporting, not a direct confirmation from the Gaineses or a recent statement from Harp about their private contact. It is reasonable to describe a positive professional history and affectionate memories; it would go beyond the evidence to state as fact that they are currently close friends. TV Insider’s recap provides that later interpretation.

Harp’s career after Fixer Upper has not followed a single-track path. His background in carpentry and reclaimed wood led into television, while closing the retail business made room for other priorities and projects. The 2025 report of his real-estate work is another change in direction, though it does not erase the earlier work that made him known to viewers. His book, Handcrafted: A Woodworker’s Story, is listed by CAA Speakers.
