A heavy blanket or curtain can contribute to the code on some models, so check the load and your washer’s manual first. If 3C keeps appearing, Samsung recommends model-specific service assessment.
What the 3C code means
Samsung US groups 3C with 3E, E3 and 1 3C under “Motor Error.” Samsung Korea likewise discusses 3C/3E as motor-operation trouble. The display points to the motor or drive system, but it does not establish which component has failed. Samsung notes that the manual for your exact model may be needed to interpret a code: Samsung US washer error codes.
Model generation and region affect the terminology. Samsung Korea says that for newer models introduced from 2015, the notation changed from E (Error) to C (Check). Confirm the exact code shown and consult your washer’s manual rather than assuming every model uses identical code definitions. Samsung Korea guidance for 3C/3E
Check the load before assuming a part has failed
Samsung Korea identifies a heavy blanket or curtain as a possible contributor to 3C/3E. Its guidance is to wash such items one at a time, use the appropriate bedding cycle, and distribute the item evenly as shown in the instructions. If the code clears after correcting an unsuitable or uneven load, the load may have been the trigger; that does not prove the washer has no other fault.

What to do when 3C appears
- Record the details. Note the complete code, washer model number, cycle stage, and whether the load contains a heavy absorbent item. Use the model number to find the correct manual and support information.
- Correct a potentially unsuitable load. If washing a blanket or curtain, follow the one-at-a-time, appropriate-bedding-cycle and even-distribution guidance from Samsung Korea.
- Check whether the code returns. If it persists or appears with an ordinary load, contact Samsung support or a qualified appliance technician for an assessment based on the exact model. Samsung Korea advises service inspection when the laundry is not the cause.
The cited guidance does not establish a universal reset procedure, electrical test, or internal inspection for every Samsung washer. Do not treat an unverified procedure as a model-independent fix.
Why the code is not a motor diagnosis
Samsung service documentation for a specific Canadian service context groups 3C and 3C1–3C6 as a main motor error and describes an inverter-reported motor-error condition. For the covered platform, it lists several possible causes: an obstruction stopping the main motor, a defective main motor, a defective main PCB, or a defective inverter PCB. For that reason, do not order a motor based on 3C alone. A technician needs the full model and diagnostic evidence to distinguish a motor problem from a control-board or inverter issue and to confirm compatible parts. No specific part number or listing can be inferred from the code.

Arrange model-specific service if the code recurs after checking the load, or if it appears when the load is not a plausible explanation. Provide the technician with the full model number, complete code, cycle stage, and what was in the washer. These details help direct the assessment without assuming which component needs replacement.
