Why does the appointment matter to Walplast?
Chakraborty’s remit links manufacturing categories that often reach the same projects through overlapping contractor, dealer and channel networks. A single business head can coordinate category planning, customer development and channel priorities instead of treating each line as an isolated operation.
For customers, the immediate significance is organizational rather than a confirmed change in products. The announcement signals that Walplast is placing additional leadership focus on gypsum systems and construction chemicals, while the cited ceiling priorities show attention to handling, consistency and dependable fixing.

Walplast Products Pvt. Ltd. is a subsidiary of DryChem India Pvt. Ltd. and was founded in 2004. On its official company profile reviewed in 2026, Walplast says it operates 25 manufacturing facilities and NABL-accredited research and development laboratories, and exports to more than 23 countries.
Its official homepage describes the company as India’s third-largest manufacturer of wall putty. That is Walplast’s own market-positioning statement, not an independently audited ranking, so it should be read as a company claim.
What should contractors and channel partners watch next?
The appointment establishes leadership scope but does not set out a public timetable or measurable targets. The useful indicators to monitor are whether Walplast introduces coordinated channel programs, expands market coverage, publishes new installation guidance, or reports category-specific investments and results.
- Changes to distributor and dealer coverage across the three categories.
- New contractor or installer support focused on ceiling and interior applications.
- Capacity, laboratory or market-expansion announcements from Walplast.
