Volvo Construction Equipment (Volvo CE) increased third-quarter 2026 net sales 5% year over year to SEK 19,904 million, compared with SEK 18,926 million in the same quarter of 2025. The quarter also showed stronger underlying momentum: organic sales rose 12%, machine net sales increased 13%, service sales grew 5%, deliveries climbed 8% and order intake jumped 16%.

The distinction between reported and organic growth matters. Reported net sales rose 5%, while Volvo CE’s organic measure, which the company uses to describe underlying development, rose 12%. Why did Volvo CE sales grow 5% in the third quarter?

Did deliveries and orders increase?
Yes. Machine deliveries rose 8% year over year, while order intake increased 16%. Orders represent customer commitments entering the business; deliveries represent machines shipped during the quarter. The faster growth in order intake indicates stronger incoming demand than the delivery increase alone would show, although the figures do not establish when every order will be delivered.

Volvo Mining planned inside Volvo CE
Volvo Group announced on October 19, 2026, that it would create Volvo Mining. The entity is planned to operate within Volvo CE from January 1, 2027, bringing together the group’s mining capabilities and offering trucks, construction equipment and autonomous solutions to mining customers and contractors.
Expanded US manufacturing
In August, Volvo CE produced its first US-built excavators and larger wheel loaders at its expanded Shippensburg, Pennsylvania, facility. The company described the investment as a way to move production closer to customers and improve responsiveness, flexibility and resilience in North America.

The quarter points to a construction-equipment market with broad but uneven support. Infrastructure and industrial projects are creating demand in several major regions, while mining and replacement cycles add volume in specific markets. For contractors, the 16% increase in order intake is a signal of active purchasing interest, but it should not be treated as a guarantee of immediate equipment availability because orders and deliveries are different measures.
The 16.1% adjusted operating margin also shows that Volvo CE remained profitable while reporting higher energy, raw-material and other inflationary costs. That margin is an adjusted company measure for the quarter, not a forecast for future periods.
