The phrase “AI-powered platform automates key physical security processes” refers to a Buildings article published April 14, 2021 about Vector Flow’s Physical Security Automation Platform. That launch-era product was presented as a way to automate physical workforce identity and access management (PIAM), physical-security operations-center (SOC) work and cyber-physical risk analysis.
This is a historical product-launch explanation, not a statement that the platform is currently sold or supported. Vector Flow’s official website now displays “Site Discontinued,” while a Honeywell LenelS2 directory still lists a Vector Flow connector. Those two facts do not establish the company’s present legal status, licensing, customer support or commercial availability.

What the platform was designed to automate
Vector Flow described its platform as using domain-specific artificial intelligence and data-centric models to analyze information from otherwise disconnected security systems, data stores and input devices. The intended result was a common operational layer that could detect anomalies, identify trends, calculate key performance indicators and trigger a response without requiring an operator to move information manually between systems.

The platform performs real-time analysis to detect anomalies, trends and KPIs, and provides actionable insights, automated remedies and processes.”
That statement is a vendor description, not an independent technical audit. The launch article grouped the claimed automation into three areas.
| Area | Processes described at launch | Examples named in the article | Timing stated in 2021 |
|---|---|---|---|
| Physical workforce identity and access management (PIAM) | Identity onboarding and offboarding, access provisioning, audits, compliance and risk analysis | Unified identities, access and badges; mobile self-service; occupancy management; emergency and pandemic policies | Presented as part of the available platform |
| Physical security operations center (SOC) automation | Alarm reduction and reporting, device monitoring, optimization and configuration | Faulty-device detection and machine-learning playbooks for SOC assistants | Presented as part of the available platform |
| Cyber-physical security | Physical-security checks as part of cyber defense | Infrastructure and Internet-of-Things device vulnerability analysis | Article said this category would be available in 2022; delivery and continuing support are not established |
How PIAM automation was supposed to work
One identity record across physical systems
PIAM automation starts with the people and organizations that need access. Instead of treating a human-resources record, an access-control database and a badge inventory as separate sources of truth, the platform was intended to unify identities, permissions and credentials. A joiner could be onboarded once, assigned the required access and issued a badge through a coordinated workflow. When that person changed roles or left, the corresponding access could be modified or terminated rather than waiting for separate manual updates.
Provisioning, audits and remediation
The launch description included access provisioning, perpetual audit and remediation, identity-risk analysis and compliance work. In practice, those functions mean continuously checking whether a person has the access their role requires, whether a badge remains active after an employment change, and whether an exception has been corrected. The platform’s proposed value was not merely producing an audit report; it was linking the finding to a remediation process.
Self-service, occupancy and emergency policies
Vector Flow also listed mobile self-service, occupancy management and emergency or pandemic access policies. Self-service can reduce routine requests reaching a security desk, while occupancy data can help an organization understand who is in a facility. Emergency policies require especially careful governance: a rule that changes access for a large population must have an approved trigger, a named owner, a rollback path and a record of what changed.

How SOC automation was supposed to reduce alarm workload
Alarm reduction and reporting
Security operations centers often receive duplicate, low-value or nuisance alarms from access-control panels, intrusion systems and other devices. The described platform was intended to correlate events, reduce repetitive notifications and produce more useful reporting. Reducing alarm volume is not the same as suppressing risk: a safe implementation must preserve escalation for events that indicate a genuine threat and retain an audit trail for every filtering decision.
Device health and configuration
The SOC feature set included monitoring and optimization, faulty-device detection and configuration automation. A platform with those capabilities could identify a device that stops reporting, behaves outside its normal pattern or has a configuration inconsistent with policy. Automated configuration changes can save time, but they also need approval boundaries, version control and a tested recovery procedure so that a bad rule does not disable a critical control.
Machine-learning playbooks for operators
Vector Flow described machine-learning playbooks for SOC assistants. A playbook is a repeatable sequence that links an event to enrichment, decision rules and actions. For example, an alarm could be matched with the affected door, recent badge activity, device health and an occupancy record before an operator is asked to escalate it. The available evidence does not specify the training data, model architecture, confidence thresholds or human-approval requirements, so those details should not be inferred from the launch description.
What cyber-physical security meant in the launch plan
The third category connected physical security with cyber defense. It was described as auditing physical-security infrastructure and Internet-of-Things devices for vulnerabilities. That could include identifying exposed devices, outdated configurations or gaps between a device’s network presence and its physical-security role.
The Buildings article said the cyber-physical category would be available in 2022. The available sources do not establish whether it was delivered, what features it contained, or whether it remains supported. Organizations evaluating this capability would need current documentation covering asset discovery, vulnerability data, remediation ownership, network architecture and cybersecurity controls rather than relying on the 2021 announcement.

Data flow and application design
Aggregating structured and unstructured information
The product was positioned as a data layer for “myriad systems, devices, logs, and journals,” including both structured records and less-formal operational information. The practical challenge is normalization: systems may use different identifiers for the same person, door or device, and event timestamps may not align. Any automation therefore depends on data mapping, identity resolution, retention rules and controls against duplicate or stale records.
Visual rules, playbooks and forms
Vector Flow described an application design studio and workbench with visual rules, playbook and form designers. Customers and systems-integrator partners were told they could extend or create applications without writing code. The runtime edition was described as available at launch, while a developer edition was planned for 2022. These are launch-era descriptions, not verified current product specifications. A no-code interface can broaden participation, but production governance still requires testing, change approval, role-based permissions and an owner for every workflow.
What the published customer and funding claims actually show
The Buildings report said Vector Flow announced a $9.2 million Series A. It also said the company reported onboarding a global telecommunications provider with more than 450,000 identities, replacing a legacy PIAM application. These figures are announcements attributed to Vector Flow in 2021, not independently audited deployment measurements.
The article gave one quantified operating example: a networking-products customer reportedly reduced false or nuisance alarms by more than 80 percent in a few months. That is a company-reported customer example, so it does not establish that every deployment will achieve the same result. The article also mentioned an unnamed pharmaceutical or research customer using the alarm-reduction application but provided no numerical outcome for that customer.
For context, the article quoted Mayfield investor Navin Chaddha citing a Gartner prediction that 75 percent of chief executive officers could be affected by cyber-physical security incidents by 2024. This was a dated, second-hand prediction reported in 2021; it should not be treated as a verified present-day statistic or current forecast.

Integration detail: the LenelS2 OnGuard connector
A current Honeywell LenelS2 Open Access Alliance Program directory entry lists a Vector Flow Connector for LenelS2 OnGuard. The entry describes identity provisioning and SOC automation, including the ability to add, modify or terminate cardholders, access levels and badges.
The directory identifies Connector version 3.2, states that an OnGuard API license is required and directs buyers to a LenelS2 value-added reseller for pricing. Honeywell limits its certification to compatibility with OnGuard and says it makes no representation about the product’s functionality or cybersecurity. Consequently, the listing confirms a directory entry and stated integration scope; it does not prove that the connector can currently be purchased, installed, supported or secured in a new deployment.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone.Present availability and what remains unresolved
The Vector Flow website currently displays “Site Discontinued.” That message alone does not prove whether the company remains legally active, whether existing customers have support arrangements, or whether any software rights can be transferred. The separate LenelS2 directory entry does not resolve those questions.
Anyone assessing the platform today would need written confirmation of vendor identity, licensing terms, maintenance coverage, supported software versions, security advisories, data-processing arrangements and an exit plan. Without that evidence, the 2021 feature list should be treated as historical product information rather than a current buying specification.
How to evaluate a similar automation project
Define the operational problem first
- For identity automation, document joiner, mover and leaver events, approval chains, badge issuance and termination deadlines.
- For SOC automation, measure alarm volume, duplicate events, response time, missed escalations and device-failure detection before changing rules.
- For cyber-physical work, inventory devices, owners, network locations, firmware and vulnerability-remediation responsibilities.
Demand evidence that can be checked
Separate vendor claims, customer references and independent validation. Ask how an outcome was measured, what baseline was used, which sites and time period were included, and whether the result was audited. The 450,000-identity deployment and the more-than-80-percent nuisance-alarm reduction are useful historical examples of the questions to ask, not guarantees for a new project.

- Keep immutable logs of automated decisions, overrides and remediation actions.
- Set human approval for high-impact access changes and broad emergency policies.
- Test failure modes, including missing data, duplicate identities, disconnected devices and incorrect time synchronization.
- Verify retention, encryption, API authentication and incident-notification commitments.
Badge hardware is a separate compatibility decision
The launch material discusses badges, cardholders and access levels but does not identify a card technology or certify a particular reader and card combination. A generic search for blank RFID access cards is therefore not a compatibility recommendation. Card frequency, encoding, encryption, reader model and the access-control system must match. Confirm the required credential technology with the system manufacturer or installer before purchasing cards; a connector that manages a cardholder record does not, by itself, make an unspecified badge physically compatible.
How to compare alternatives without overstating equivalence
Current products should be compared against the same questions rather than against Vector Flow’s unverified launch claims. Examine identity lifecycle and badge workflows; SOC alarm correlation and device-health automation; cyber-physical and IoT risk functions; supported integrations and deployment architecture; independently documented customer outcomes; and present vendor status, licensing, support and cybersecurity documentation.
For category context, Ontic’s physical-security platform page describes centralized data, AI summaries, automated triage, tasking and alerts. That page describes a different product and is not evidence of feature parity, migration compatibility or comparative performance with Vector Flow.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:

The 2021 announcement described a coherent automation model: unify identity and device data, apply domain-specific analytics, and turn findings into repeatable access, alarm and remediation workflows. Its most concrete published examples were a reported 450,000-identity telecommunications deployment and a reported reduction of more than 80 percent in nuisance alarms for one customer. Both remain attributed historical claims, not independent benchmarks. The platform’s current availability and support cannot be established from the discontinued website message and the surviving OnGuard directory listing alone, so any present-day decision requires direct, current vendor and integrator verification.
