For US buyers who want a large drum and hands-off convenience features, the LG SIGNATURE WM9901HBA is the strongest single washer candidate in this guide. It is not the best choice for every household. Its listed price, fit requirements, and the value of its features depend on your laundry space, how you wash, and whether you also need a matching dryer. Treat the model as a starting point for comparison, not a verdict.
This guide covers the LG SIGNATURE WM9901HBA, the closely related LG SIGNATURE WM9700HPA, and the washer-dryer pairs that Consumer Reports rated in its 2026 Buying Guide. It also explains which models to rule out and how to check fit and total cost before you buy.
The short answer for most buyers
A high-end front-loader is worth paying for when you need a large capacity, want automatic detergent and softener handling, and plan to keep the machine for a long time. Consumer Reports’ 2025 brand guide describes the category this way: “Front-loaders are the highest-performing and most expensive washers you can buy, ranging from $650 to $2,100 in our ratings.” That range reflects the models Consumer Reports rated in 2025, not every premium machine on the market today.
If your priority is the lowest total cost, or if you have a small laundry closet, a premium washer may not be the right use of budget. The sections below explain where the money goes and how to test whether a given model fits your space.

LG SIGNATURE WM9901HBA: what the listing claims
LG lists the WM9901HBA as a 5.8 cu. ft. smart front-load washer. Its feature set includes AI-selected wash settings, a 7-inch LCD touchscreen, ezDispense automatic detergent and softener dosing, TurboWash 360, and an Allergiene steam cycle. LG also lists ThinQ app functions and several finish options. LG’s US product page showed a price of $1,899 when accessed on October 8, 2026. Promotional and retail prices change often, so confirm the current figure before you budget for it.
Capacity
The 5.8 cu. ft. figure is LG’s rated drum capacity. The listing does not state usable capacity, so compare drum measurements across models rather than assuming a larger number always means more usable space for bulky items like comforters.
Cycle time claims
LG says TurboWash 360 can complete a load in “under 30 minutes.” That claim comes from LG’s internal testing of a normal cycle, the TurboWash option, and an 8-pound load in October 2024. LG states that results vary with the clothes and the environment. Plan around the normal cycle length for your typical loads, not the headline figure.
Steam and hygiene cycles
The Allergiene steam cycle is LG’s specified option for the use cases it describes. It is a manufacturer feature, not an independent claim about sanitizing performance, so read LG’s cycle description before relying on it for a specific need.

App and automatic dispensing
ezDispense automates detergent and softener dosing from a reservoir, which suits households that want fewer manual steps. ThinQ app functions depend on a home Wi-Fi connection and on your comfort with connected appliances. If you do not want a machine that depends on an app, check which functions still work without it before you buy.

LG SIGNATURE WM9700HPA: a related alternative
The WM9700HPA is a separate model and should not be treated as the same product as the WM9901HBA or the WM9900HSA pair washer. LG lists it at 5.8 cu. ft. with hybrid controls, AI wash settings, TurboWash 360, ezDispense, an Allergiene steam cycle, and ThinQ functions. LG displayed a price of $1,599 when accessed on October 8, 2026.
LG gives the WM9700HPA’s dimensions as 29 inches wide, 54 5/16 inches deep, and 43 3/4 inches high. Those dimensions apply to the WM9700HPA only. Do not use them to judge the WM9901HBA’s fit; check that model’s own specification sheet.

The WM9900HSA score of 86 cannot be attributed to the WM9901HBA on its own. If you buy the WM9901HBA without the matching dryer, you are not buying the pair that Consumer Reports scored.
Consumer Reports says its 2026 washer scoring uses stain removal for washing performance, water used on an 8-pound load for water efficiency (6 pounds for compact models), and judgments across fill, wash, drain, and spin for noise. Those are separate dimensions, and a pair score combines the performance of both machines.

Will a large-capacity washer fit your laundry room?
Fit is where many premium purchases go wrong. Before you compare features, check the space you actually have. Measure the following at the installation location:
- Clear width, depth, and height, including the door swing when the door opens to its full angle.
- Full depth from the back wall to the front of the door, plus room for hoses and the drain standpipe.
- The route the machine will take through doorways, hallways, and stairs. A washer that fits the laundry room may not fit the path to get there.
- Service access, including room to pull the machine out and reach the rear panel and hoses.
- Water supply and drain hookups, and whether they match the machine’s requirements.
- Floor level and load capacity, especially on upper floors or in closets with a wood subfloor.
If you are working with a contractor, share the official specification sheet for the exact model and finish. Installation details that look minor on a plan, such as a recessed valve box or a low ceiling, often decide whether a model fits.

Speed Queen LFNE5BSP119TW01
Speed Queen labels the LFNE5BSP119TW01 for commercial use only and states it is not approved for residential installation. Its listed MSRP of $3,749, accessed October 8, 2026, does not make it a home-use high-end option. Do not buy it for a house or apartment on the strength of its price or capacity.
Electrolux Arabia UltimateCare models
Electrolux’s Arabia regional catalog lists other UltimateCare models and features. Those Middle East product names and availability cannot be assumed to apply in the United States. Check the US Electrolux catalog for the model you are considering.
How to shop for a high-end washer
- Measure the installation space and the delivery path, as described above, and write down the minimum clearances.
- Choose whether you need a washer alone or a washer-dryer pair. If you need a pair, compare the pair score and pair price, not the washer price alone.
- Confirm the current US price, finish, and availability on the manufacturer’s site and at your retailer. Note whether the price is promotional.
- Ask the installer or retailer whether delivery and installation are included in the quoted price, and what they cost if not.
- Check the warranty terms and the service network for your location. Warranty coverage, service availability, and retailer return policies vary, so do not assume the terms from a temporary online offer.
- Test the features you will actually use: normal-cycle length for your typical loads, automatic dispensing, and any app functions you need.
Costs beyond the sticker price
Keep the purchase price, the pair price, and installation or delivery costs separate in your budget. Ask whether any rebate or retailer promotion applies to the specific model and finish you want, and confirm the terms before you assume the discount.
