UGREEN introduced SynCare at CES 2026, but it is not yet a confirmed retail-ready security system. The company’s first smart-home security ecosystem combines indoor and outdoor cameras, a video doorbell, a dedicated control display and local video storage through UGREEN NASync hardware. UGREEN said SynCare should become available in the second half of 2026, but the launch announcement did not include final pricing, a firm shipping date or complete compatibility details.

That makes SynCare an interesting development for homeowners planning connected security into a renovation or new-build project—not an immediate replacement for established camera systems.

What UGREEN announced at CES 2026

UGREEN announced SynCare on January 6, 2026, during CES in Las Vegas. The company described it as an integrated smart-home security ecosystem rather than a single camera or mobile app. A follow-up release on January 9 provided further details about the cameras, doorbell, Smart Display and local-storage strategy.

UGREEN’s stated target is the second half of 2026. As of August 18, 2026, the available official material still does not establish confirmed public retail availability or SynCare pricing. Readers should therefore distinguish between an announcement-stage product and a system that can be specified, purchased and installed today.

What “platform” means in this case

SynCare is best understood as a proprietary security ecosystem made up of six connected layers:

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.
  1. Camera and doorbell hardware for indoor spaces, outdoor areas and the front entrance.
  2. A Smart Display hub intended to provide a central in-home view of events.
  3. AI detection that identifies people, pets and other activity.
  4. Cross-camera awareness intended to connect activity seen by more than one device.
  5. Local storage through UGREEN NASync hardware.
  6. Mobile management for alerts and remote access.

The word “platform” does not establish compatibility with general smart-home standards. The announcement does not confirm support for Matter, Apple Home, Google Home, Amazon Alexa, ONVIF, RTSP or third-party automation systems. That distinction matters when security wiring, network equipment and home-automation controls are being planned together.

How the proposed system is supposed to work

In UGREEN’s model, cameras and the doorbell send footage and event information into a unified environment managed through the D500 Smart Display and connected to NASync storage. The system is intended to do more than save clips: UGREEN says it can interpret activity using multimodal AI, correlate events across cameras and issue risk-based alerts.

For example, a person detected at a side gate could potentially be linked with movement near the front entrance. That could be more useful than receiving separate, disconnected alerts from several cameras. However, no independent testing identified in the available coverage establishes how accurately this works, how quickly alerts arrive or how often the system generates false alarms.

Blink Outdoor 4 – Wireless smart security camera, two-year battery life, 1080p HD day and infrared night live view, two-way talk. Sync Module Core included – 3 camera system
  • Outdoor 4 is our most affordable wireless smart security camera yet, offering up to two-year battery life for around-the-clock peace of mind. Local storage not included with Sync Module Core.
  • See and speak from the Blink app — Experience 1080p HD live view, infrared night vision, and crisp two-way audio.
  • Two-year battery life — Set up in minutes and get up to two years of power with the included AA Energizer lithium batteries and a Blink Sync Module Core.
  • Enhanced motion detection — Be alerted to motion faster from your smartphone with dual-zone, enhanced motion detection.

UGREEN also promotes UltraColor Night Vision for brighter nighttime images. This is a manufacturer claim, not an independently measured result. Glare, rain, darkness, moving foliage, crowded scenes and reflective surfaces can all affect real-world camera performance.

Local storage is the main selling point

UGREEN’s central argument is that SynCare can store recordings locally through NASync rather than relying on a mandatory cloud-recording subscription. Local recording can offer several advantages:

  • Fewer recurring fees for retaining video.
  • Greater control over how long footage is kept.
  • Less dependence on a third-party cloud service.
  • A potentially better fit for privacy-conscious households.
  • Centralized retention for multiple cameras if the NAS is properly sized.

But local storage is not the same as guaranteed privacy or zero cloud use. Mobile apps, account systems, remote viewing, firmware updates, diagnostics and future AI features may still require internet connections. UGREEN says footage can be encrypted and stored locally, but the announcement does not provide enough technical detail to evaluate the exact encryption implementation or determine what information leaves the home.

The local approach also moves responsibility to the homeowner. A NAS needs storage drives, power, maintenance, access controls, backups and protection against theft or physical damage. A device sitting beside the router may be vulnerable to the same fire, flood, theft or power event that affects the cameras.

Is a UGREEN NAS required?

This is one of the most important unanswered questions. UGREEN positions NASync as the local-storage backbone for SynCare, but its CES material does not clearly state:

What’s actually slowing this PC down?

Pick the symptom - the matching free tool is one click away.

  • Whether a NAS is mandatory.
  • Whether cameras can record to microSD cards.
  • Which existing NASync models will be compatible.
  • Whether the D500 display includes internal storage.
  • Whether recordings can be exported to a computer or third-party NAS.
  • Whether ordinary network shares or standard video protocols will work.
  • Whether remote access depends on UGREEN’s relay service.

Until those details are published, it is more accurate to say that UGREEN proposes NASync as the local-storage path—not that every SynCare buyer must purchase a NAS.

  • FULL-COLOR 1080P, DAY AND NIGHT: See clearly in low light with a large-aperture lens and built-in spotlights. Capture full-color night vision up to 30 ft away to monitor for possible intruders or motion.

For context, UGREEN’s official NASync DH4300 Plus page showed a diskless four-bay NAS at $399.99, discounted from $439.99, in the August 2026 material. Drives are separate. That product’s price is not a SynCare package price and should not be treated as one.

The real cost could be much higher than the camera price

When SynCare pricing is released, homeowners should calculate the complete installation rather than comparing only individual camera prices. The total may include:

  • Indoor, outdoor and doorbell hardware.
  • The Smart Display.
  • A NAS and compatible hard drives or SSDs.
  • Network cabling, weatherproofing and installation hardware.
  • A UPS or other backup-power equipment.
  • Off-site backup storage.
  • Replacement drives and long-term maintenance.
  • Any future cloud, remote-access, AI or support fees.

UGREEN also announced separate NASync iDX6011 products at CES, including promotional prices from $999 to $1,559 depending on model and memory. Those figures relate to NAS hardware, not SynCare cameras or bundles. The CES announcement lists those prices.

What remains unproven

SynCare’s marketing describes AI-powered recognition, cross-camera awareness, risk-based alerts and improved night vision. There are currently no independent benchmarks in the available material for:

  • Person, pet or event-detection accuracy.
  • False-alert rates.
  • Alert latency.
  • Nighttime image quality.
  • Performance in rain, glare or low light.
  • Reliability during internet or NAS outages.
  • Long-term firmware support.

Before specifying SynCare for a construction project, buyers should also ask whether detection zones, alert schedules, household-member exclusions, vehicle and package detection, optional facial recognition and explanations for risk classifications will be available.

Reliability and security questions for a real installation

A security system should be evaluated under failure conditions, not only during a product demonstration. UGREEN has not yet specified what happens when:

  • The internet connection fails.
  • The NAS is offline or its drives fail.
  • The Smart Display loses power.
  • A camera is physically stolen.
  • The home loses power for an extended period.
  • The homeowner needs emergency off-site footage.

Local recording may continue to work during an internet outage, but that cannot be assumed without final documentation. Similarly, encrypted storage and two-factor authentication are valuable safeguards, but they do not remove the need for strong passwords, secure network configuration, timely updates, drive redundancy and a separate backup strategy.

UGREEN’s existing NAS marketing refers to features such as encryption, firewall protection and two-factor authentication on some products. Those features should not automatically be assumed to apply identically to SynCare until the company publishes its security architecture and support commitments. Useful questions include whether AI processing occurs on the camera, Smart Display, NAS or cloud; whether remote viewing is relayed through UGREEN servers; and how long firmware and vulnerability fixes will be provided.

Who should be interested?

SynCare could appeal to:

  • Existing UGREEN NAS owners who want a single-vendor security ecosystem.
  • Homeowners planning several cameras rather than one inexpensive indoor unit.
  • Privacy-conscious households that prefer local video retention.
  • People who want a dedicated in-home event display.
  • Small properties needing indoor, outdoor and doorbell coverage.

It may be a poor fit for:

  • Renters who cannot install outdoor cameras or replace a doorbell.
  • Buyers who need a system immediately.
  • Anyone seeking one cheap, standalone camera.
  • Users who depend on mature third-party integrations.
  • Homeowners unwilling to manage NAS drives, backups and network security.
  • People who require a long history of independent testing and established support.

How SynCare compares with other architectures

Architecture Primary advantage Main trade-off
SynCare with UGREEN NASync Unified local-storage ecosystem with a dedicated display. New platform with unresolved pricing, compatibility and support questions.
Cloud-first systems such as Ring or Arlo Mature apps, accessories and generally straightforward setup. Important features may depend on recurring subscriptions and cloud services.
Local-storage brands such as Reolink or Eufy More local-recording choices and potentially lower ongoing costs. Integration, privacy behavior and features vary significantly by model.
Synology Surveillance Station Established NAS-based approach with broader camera compatibility. More technical setup, plus possible hardware and licensing costs.
DIY systems such as Home Assistant and Frigate Maximum control and customization. Higher setup and maintenance burden, with possible requirements for dedicated hardware or AI acceleration.

No architecture is universally best. The decision depends on whether the priority is simple setup, local ownership, third-party compatibility, mature support or the lowest upfront cost.

What construction and renovation projects should plan for

Because SynCare’s final networking requirements are unknown, it would be premature to design an installation around specific hardware. A new-build or major renovation can still prepare sensibly by allowing for:

  • Structured Ethernet runs to likely exterior camera positions.
  • Weather-protected junction boxes and service access.
  • Doorbell wiring that can support the eventual device requirements.
  • A secure, ventilated location for networking and NAS equipment.
  • Dedicated power and UPS capacity for the network, hub and storage.
  • Network segmentation for cameras and smart-home devices.
  • Physical security for the NAS so recordings are not lost with a stolen camera.
  • Clear sightlines that avoid glare, reflective surfaces and unnecessary privacy intrusion.

These provisions preserve options for SynCare, Reolink, a Synology-based system or another future platform. They are safer than assuming a CES announcement will deliver a particular protocol, connector or storage model.

Availability: announcement, not confirmed retail launch

UGREEN announced SynCare at CES 2026, which ran January 6–9 in Las Vegas. The company said the SynCare Series would be available in the second half of 2026, but no cited launch material confirms a final retail price, guaranteed shipping date or immediate order path. Independent coverage also noted the absence of pricing; see this report.

That wording matters. “Launches” can imply that a product is available to buy, while the evidence supports “unveils,” “announces” or “introduces.” Buyers should wait for official product pages and verify regional availability, warranty terms, return conditions, required hardware and any recurring fees.

Product prices and availability are accurate as of the date/time indicated and are subject to change. Any price and availability information displayed on Amazon at the time of purchase will apply.
